Good Morning CGs!

Monday evening I had an opportunity to work on the Corvette. I finished the intake manifold installation, dropped the dizzy, and tied up the loose ends. I was able to bump the key around 8:30 pm. The car started up and idled for a few seconds before it died. The timing is off and I know that. So I need to fix that and make sure the valves are adjusted properly. But with the kids in bed I didn't have time. Hopefully this week.

Tool sales were good this week for me. I sold a considerable amount over the weekend. That's a stark contrast with the past few weeks which were slow. I can't explain it.

It seems like everyone else has been busy as well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Morning guys....another chilly start, below freezing, but headed toward the upper 60s today. Tomorrow not so much, with highs in the 40s are expected.

I never got to the shop yesterday. I needed to talk the my friend, the electrician, about the job for the family. He approached me wanting to help, so I took him up on the offer to come look at what we had this last weekend. He gave his thoughts and recommendations. After my visit with the family, Monday, they gave me the OK to get stated. So yesterday right about noon, I stopped to see him and discuss what I had learned, and told him we could, at any point now, pick up the materials needed to get going. Without hesitation, he suggested we go now and pick them up. So we jumped into my pickup and headed over to the 'city' to get what we needed and then back home. We dropped off the stuff at the house, visited with 'mom and dad' explaining we were going to start Thursday morning replacing the electrical service panel. Then we headed down t the city office to inform them what we were doing and arranged to have them come remove the meter. This brought us to nearly 5pm. I had not eaten lunch and was hungry.

We were expecting a Medicare insurance specialist to come talk to us about our options, at around 5:30. So I quickly grabbed something to eat. Then he called and said, he was running about a half hour late. When he got here he cleared many of our questions up and left us with his recommendations. As soon as we pin down the date for Rosies' retirement. we will contact him again and he will come back and we will get enrolled.

Shortly after he left, I had to go to a church council meeting. Bids for repairing the roof on the rectory was first order of business, $12,600. Then they want to build additional classrooms in the hall....guess who was put in charge of that project....

I have things I've got to get done today....got to go.

So,tee. What were the suggestions? I'm coming up soon behind you. I'm keeping my group insurance and signing up for parts A & B. Drug coverage will come from my private insurer. At least that's the plan for now. GRIS, what was the surprise you got from medicare last time you went to sign up for something? Was it A, B, D or other?

Pace has slowed down. I'm just doing stuff I know needs to be done before I commit to the caulk and paint project out back. Ceiling fan came in yesterday so I installed it. I had to order it online since none of the local stores had a 30" fan/light combo. Came in a few days. The UPS guy dropped it over my front fence. (cringe) The globe survived so all was well. Delivery drivers do all kinds of wacky stuff. Leave it outside my gate where a thief can help themselves. Drop it over the fence onto the electric gate track. Leave it without putting it in a plastic bag. You know the rain in Spain mainly dumps on Florida. I prefer to purchase fragile stuff locally but sometimes there is no other choice. Then of course there are unexplained folds, cuts and gouges suffered during the shipping process. Sounds like I'm griping again. Of course I am. I wouldn't be happy unless I was bitchin.

IT WAS PART B. I STARTED SS AS SOON AS I COULD, THE "GUBMT" WAS PIMPING WAIT, WHICH IMMEDIATELY MADE ME SUSPICIOUS.
I WORKED ALMOST ALL MY ADULT LIFE FOR THE FEDS AND NEVER DID I SEE THEIR "NEW IMPROVED" PROGRAMS WORK TO THE INDIVIDUAL'S ADVANTAGE.

I HAVE GOOD HEALTH INS, GEHA, FROM MY CIVIL SERVICE TIME SO I DID NOT SIGN UP FOR PART B. THEY HAD ALREADY RENEGED ON MY SS PAYOUT; CUT IT IN HALF BECAUSE I HAD CS RETIREMENT. SO I WANTED TO GET EVERY $ I COULD FROM THE CHEATING BASTARDS.

WHEN IT LOOKED LIKE I MIGHT BE FACING A LOT OF MED BILLS I ADDED PART B. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME RETROACTIVELY. ---WE'RE HERE TO HELP YOU---

I GUESS YOU HAVE USPS RETIREMENT OF SOME SORT, IT'S A WHOLE 'NOTHER BALLGAME I THINK. HAVE NO IDEA HOW THAT INTERACTS WITH SS/MEDICARE ETC.

I am signed up for Medicare..... Part A I think..... I am still covered under Uwoman's health car from her teaching job. I do use it occasionally though... like when I go to the Joint.....my new chiropractor place it only costs me 29 dollars and medicare pays the rest......

Got the Corvette tucked in for the winter and a new car cover coming from CCA. It was on sale for 120 bucks..... and is a real nice one. Inside only but will be able to be used outside on a trip if I want. Still need to unhook the battery and air up the tires a bit.....

gotta go to work now..... have an intellectual day Guru's......

GRIS I have GEHA and retired under CSRS. I too was set for the SS offset so I never even bothered to qualify. I have 36 quarters. I'm not going back to work. They gave me an offer I couldn't refuse and went out at 53 1/2. 30 years Postal plus 5 years USAF time. Cant believe at the end of this year I will be out 11 years. I also opted not to join into FERS, the new and improved retirement model. I understand from many they did well with it. I'm not crying. I'm doing alright. Never be rich, never be poor. I'm going to go with signing up for A & B. That's what my friends and former coworkers are doing. One is very investigative. A former shop steward, so I trust his evaluation and judgement. My monthly outgo is going to go up with that so I'm less than thrilled about he financial impact. I think I just read about GEHA kicking back a little to medicare beneficiaries. Have to look into that.

I STUCK WITH CSRS ALSO AND HAVE NO REGRETS ABOUT IT.
I THINK A AND B WILL BE A GOOD CHOICE. WHEN I HAD ONLY A IT CAUSED A LOT OF CONFUSION AMONG INADEQUATELY TRAINED CLERKS.

Part B when Rosie retires, until then I'm covered under her insurance. Then we will sign on to Part B.....our guy will sign us up with a Medigap package to cover what parts A & B wont cover. The Medigap price that he's recommending, is stays the same, no matter how old we get. And because we are in, basically, good health, the rates are pretty cheap. As soon as we actually get signed up for Part B, he will come back and find us the best package for our drugs, vision and dental.

Rosie will start her SS when she retires and we will pay for our medicare insurances with that....There should be a pretty decent amount left over. And with her (and my) KPERS (Kansas Public Employee Retirement) we should do OK. Then in a little over a year, I'll start drawing my SS (at my full retirement age).

We can't even get Rosie signed up for another couple weeks, because it's too soon. Three months prior to 65th birthday.

Y'all wear me out with how busy you all get. I'm tired reading all of it. The insurance discussion confuses me. I remember my bother being all upset about it. And how the one I have in the nursing home had the 'wrong' one to cover long term residential care.
Just doing the regular thing on BSBS for now. BF has his crappy plan at work that means he has to pay himself for everything.
Anywho, the truck is mostly printed and it's on to another project. The pool people have ruined my weekend away and I"m cancelling so they can be there thurs/Fri for refit and refill or whatever. We had planned to go the hills but now if we do it'll only be Sat/Sun. He's talking a mini beach trip the following weekend. We'll see. Carry on!
