WOKE UP, MISREAD THE CLOCK AND GOT OUT OF BED AN HOUR EARLY. WAS WONDERING WHY THE COFFEE POT HAD NOT COME ON---OF ALL THE THINGS I'VE LOST, I MISS MY MIND THE MOST :-0

CLEAR,COOL, AND CALM THIS MORNING, 60 DEGREES. OUR PRETTY WEATHER IS SUPPOSED TO END TONIGHT, THE CHEROKEES ARE SAD TO SEE IT GO. WIND IS TO PICK UP LATER, THEY SAY.

AUTO ROTATION DAY TODAY, HARVEY GOES IN THE READY RACK.

UPDATE FROM BIG DAUGHTER ON SWEETHEART: STABLE, SHOWING A LITTLE IMPROVEMENT. SEEMS #4 GRANDDAUGHTER HAS BECOME THE FAMILY "DOG GIRL" AND IS INVOLVED IN HER CARE. IT'S SO INTERESTING WATCHING KIDS PERSONALITIES DEVELOP.

OUT IN THE COUNTRY WE PAY ABOUT $1K PROPERTY TAX ON HOUSE AND FIVE ACRES. WE ALSO PAY FOR TRASH PICKUP AND A SMALL FEE FOR COVERAGE FROM THE FT GIBSON FIRE DEPT.

GOING TO TRY TO BLOW THE LEAVES OFF THE PATIO WHILE IT'S STILL.

ALWAYS FORWARD, GURUS!

Bob, that is /year in our case.

You’re very fortunate. We pay almost 6 grand annually. All we get for that is the our name on a mailbox. We’re getting raped by the schools and our local library. Of course, there’s fire/rescue, street services. Police is county sheriff. We’ve discussed moving when she’s done working, but that’s a ways off.

Bob, we don't get a 'mailbox', not at the house anyway. We have to go to the PO to pick up our mail. We pay extra for 'city' services and the state assesses for the schools...locally we don't have any choice. The sheriff is our police force as well and we fund the fire/EMS through those property taxes. We also have a hospital that we fund the difference of cost/what they bring in, which is getting closer to a break even.

Warm this morning, but more than a bit breezy. Tomorrow is going to be considerably cooler.

Glad to hear the pup is responding to treatment, Gris.

Back in the olden days with some of the fire departments you pre-paid for services. If you contributed they responded to your fire. If not ..... Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. A sort of fire insurance.

I can only guess that’s before all our different taxes were started up.

Tee, again, I guess it’s all how a state or local decides to break it down.
My issue is that here in the Centerville/Washington Twp area, there doesn’t seem to be any definite accountability for where the money goes after the schools get it. And don’t get me going on the library.
Oh well, happy Monday everyone!

We had to deal with tropical force winds and rain throughout the night. Woke up to flooded conditions mainly by the back lawnmower shed and the shipping container area. The container had a little intrusion but I had most stuff up off the floor. It has already dropped lower than floor level. The lawnmower shed has a couple of inches in it. No big deal Just covering up some of the tires or the metal parts of shovels or handles of yard tools. It will be down in a couple of hours below floor level. Yard flooding won't be down for a couple of days back there. The office and bathroom stayed high and dry. My patches to the bathroom roof held nicely. All I had were a few drops on a window ledge. If that's all there was from a tropical storm I'll say the place is pretty well dried in. That may have come in from the glass. Dottie the pig was walking around a little confused with all the water. She had some high ground places to go if she really wanted. Tortoises did OK. Both in the Spur Thigh pen and the Redfoot pen. Couple of dry days and we'll be good as new. Rainy season is over. Someone tell Mother Nature.

GRIS, my heart goes out to you. I have cried more than once at the loss of one of my good friends. Our dogs. I always feel like we will all be together again in the great beyond. In a spiritual kinda way. Like the light emitted from a sun long dead, love transcends space and time.
