Friday I had a spinal MRI. Today I saw my pain management doctor. His recommendation was surgery. I have almost a complete blockage of the nerve canal around L4 and L5.I told him I prefer to put off surgery until it is absoltely necessary. He suggested I at least go talk with the surgeon to discuss what my options are. I don't want to get screwed. Lost a childhood friend to what I believe was liver disease. He lived most of his life drinking and drugging. There day comes when the body says no more. He was 71ish. There is something to be said about sobriety. You're still gonna die but don't force it.Side note. My father died from an alcohol related issue when he was 38. I was 12. He just couldn't seem to kick it.

Good afternoon, upper 90s here, hotter through the week, rain cloud overhead and it stopped right at the end of the driveway. Literally. Street wet, my yard dry. Now I have to water plants.Sorry for your news Tommy, but with that sort of level of obstruction, I'd get it corrected. Quality of life means a lot, you never realize how much pain you've been dealing with till you aren't. I'm different, I don't want to put off surgery if I can be fixed and better now rather than later. My father had alcohol issues too, died when I was 21 to lung issues and heart failure.
Marcus, I just recenlty learned about evapotranspiration in relation to corn fields. Apparently they can increase humidity quite a bit locally. Corn sweat can give off 3-5,000 gallons per day. No wonder it's humid and hot here, corn fields all around me, minus 2 bean fields.

I looked at the surgeons reviews and he 's got a 4.7 out of 5. I liked that they mentioned minimally invasive surgery so I guess I'll go talk with him. He is also trained in robotic surgey. Maybe I can get away with just a spacer. One can hope.

My hip surgery as well as my kidney extraction were both done robotically, pretty groovy stuff.

Hey guys, That sound just like mine, Tommy. Minimally invasive, Robotic, installed a spacer and the 4 screws, NOT SORRY I had it done. At least talk to the doc.

Took GGD back this morning, going to be quiet around here.

Talking with Rosie on the way home, decided to replace the battery on the Cadillac as it is the original, and is 7 model years old. Ordered an OEM AC/Delco from Amazon. Really don't want to have battery issues while on the trip.

Hot is the word of the day. Did about 2 hours of yardwork this morning. In my older (wiser?) age I take better precautions. Long sleeve outdoor ventilated work shirt, full length pants, straw hat for the sun. And water. Can't forget that. Tommy might have offered me a job had he seen my keen get-up. Wife said I was crazy. I said work doesn't disappear just because it's hot outside. Work is always there. Just have to be smart about it.

Teach tonight and even with the air going it's hot in there. Extra water breaks for the kids.

Good plan, TB. Batteries fail more often from hot than they do cold.

...Teeb when we took the 17 Tahoe to Seattle last year I had all the fluids changed and everything checked out and up to snuff.... got out there and the next morning the car would not turn over...... the original Delco battery was 7 years old... went to the parts store and bought whatever they had and changed it out.... so far so good....
