I don't know how the classes work and if you guys would even be racing head to head against Porsches but if so, how are you doing against the above? Other than tires, I'm talking stock vs. stock. I've got an old girlfriend who loves racing her 2001 Carrera 4 and I wanted to give her a little good natured smack talk (if I could). TIA...

On the SCCA website you can look up cars and their classes. That would give you some insight into competition.

For NASA, it looks like the 993 and 996 Carrera 4's are a class B car and an LTx 'vette is a class C car.

A is highest, the B, C, etc. down the alphabet.

The newer 997 Carreras are class A.

Thanks for the reply. So theoretically, the late model C4s and the 993/996 Carrera 4s would never be racing against each other, at least in a SCCA sanctioned event. Is that correct?

I'm using NASA (the 2nd largest amatuer motorsports sancioning body behind SCCA) classes because that's what I'm familiar with, but assuming similar rules in SCCA, yes. They are not in direct competition with each other.

However, modify the cars and it's a whole different story.

Stay tuned for NASA Mid Ohio results (April 11-13)........

The TTS class will have a GT3 running against some fast C4's. (Spectator) On another note, if any of you watch the show "Setup" on Speed, Mike "Junior" Johnson will also be competing in TTS.

My money is on the vintage bowtie brigade.

Matt - if the GT3 you're referring to is Jerry, no problem...I took him at Putnam (his home track) last October.

We're set for some wins.

I'm also curious to see how Jr Johnson does in his Z06. For those of you who watched the show "setup" on Speed, he was the Bridgestone then Sketchers drvier. Seems like a real nice guy, but I hope to pass him anyway...

I think we both were faster than Jerry at Mid Ohio last August but that was his first weekend w/ the car. (I just wanted to point out the GT3 for the OP to see a comparison) And yes, I think you'll have him covered.

Also for the OP, on paper a six figure supercar wins every time but on the track the driver is the biggest performance factor.

I agree w/ you on "Junior". He seems like a pretty cool character. I wonder if he's sick of people asking him to do the Ward Burton imitation.

I'm mostly worried about the red C4 in ST2...

So we have a problem. Rob ordered the Specatator Racing stickers in red. Not sure that's going to show up real well on your car.

Just checked...he got you a black one.

Kewl. He didn't pick up an extra differential by chance??? DHL lost mine!! It shows that it's been in Wilmington , Ohio all week. Stupid Phuckers.......grrrrrr

This has actually given me time to mount my G2x,Hans, and a rear view camera! It's sweet, a little 2.5" screen is mounted on my dash and the wireless camera mounts to the rear license plate. My mirror sucks so maybe this will help. ($98 at WalMart)
