This is an old one.

This vid shows how quickly things can get ugly at a leisurely track day, in a pretty dramatic video. The silence at the end of the vid is deafening.

Drive safely!

He was bouncing around a lot, very poor setup. I am not surprised he crashed.

From other stuff I read, he was a very experienced driver, just new to that track. And lots of people screw up that decreasing radius turn. It's infamous.

Ouch! The hard truth about how close we are to having a really bad day every time we hit the track.

Also a good reminder that safety mods should come before performance upgrades.

I am very familiar with WSIR, and by eastern standards it is billiard table smooth. As I watch this again, I am impressed by now awful his suspension is. It is hard to tell from the after pics, but it appears that the car was slammed and even the best tires don't work very well if they are not in contact with the track. The lesson here is if you are going to go fast, don't be cheap on you safety equipment, suspension and brakes. If you can't afford the good stuff, park it until you can.

The car does look like it's moving around a lot, reminds me of a Spec Miata I drove that had crappy shocks.

I haven't driven Willow since somewhere around 1993 but there used to be a dip there at the apex, drivers right, that would move the car around quite a bit.

If he was new to the track, he was pushing too hard.
