My wife really likes the C5. I didn't like them when they came out and have slowly warmed up to them to the point I'd consider it now.

There is a 2001 Mag Red Coupe (Auto) for sale near the house, 29K miles for 25K. We stopped and checked it out on the way back from Lowe's. Very clean looked new from all angles.

Much easier to get into and more spacious inside. The salesman drove it down the street (blahing about how nice it was and how he wishes he could have one...) then he pulled over and I got behind the wheel.

I was totally underwhelmed by it steering felt totally disconnected, really smooth ride, you sit higher off the ground and when I punched it from a stop sign (about 3/4 throttle) just didn't impress me at all. I was really surprised at the difference. After driving my 90 Z51 6sp daily for about 7 years the C5 didn't feel like a Vette to me.

I'll have to try a 6sp to be fair...but have any of you guys driven a stock C5...how did it feel to you?

Mate ive never been a fan of them since i first saw one in the flesh. Ive never had anyone tell me a stock one is anything to rave about. If it was me, id pour the money into that black beast you have sitting there and give it some new parts or something like that.

I agree with you...just had to check it out. I wouldn't replace "FB" with a C5....now a C6 after a few year is a different story :D
