My stock 1985 leather is probably going to start falling apart soon.

One options is to pay out the butt for new leather covers, but for that price I could put race seats and a harness in there.

It would have to at least use a manual seat track, the electric mechanism is sloppy and expensive to replace and you end up with the same GM crap. Something that folds forward would be a nice touch also, but I may be dreaming there.

All the C4 installs I've seen so far either stick up way too high, or have these non-adjustable hack jobs for a mounting system, and just plain don't fit the car.

I'm using the term "racing seat" pretty loosely, as these would also be my seats for daily use.

I put some Corbeau A4 seats in mine. I've very pleased with the setup. Bolting the brackets in the way I did was pretty difficult but with the shaved seat bases I now have headroom with a helmet on. With the stock seats my head was tipped to the side which totally sucked.

I used their double locking manual sliders.

The harness bar I made, it was $50 in materials.

Is that floor bracket just an adapter to mount to their tracks? I'm not sure how the seat would need shaving for that... or are you talking about removing some foam and recovering it? I'll see if I can find a pic of this slider setup.

How tall are you?

I'm around 6'3" and with my helmet on I really didn't fit. Now I have about 1/2" of clearance to the top with my helmet on and I don't hit my head when I jump the local train tracks.

The bracket shown is their adapter bracket, it's suppose to be used with many washers but I used as few as humanly possible to keep the total height down. I even took out the carpet, about 1/4" of height.

The seat bases I had shaved when I bought the seats. This keeps the total height of the seat the same but lowers the seat cushion where you sit. You can tell by looking at the seat as there is a noticable gap between the back part and seat bottom part. I asked the max shave they would do. I also have the sub belt hole.

The sliders are locking on each side, I thought that would be safer for track use. I got the seats with free shipping at streetortrack.com

The harness bar is gas welded to federal aircraft spec.

There are racing seats out there that fold forward and recline, but they're pricey. Expect to pay at least $700.

Here are a couple examples:

http://www.saferacer.com/sparco-siena-seat.html?productid=782

A fixed back seat is safer (and required for W2W), but if you're going to spend more than an hour at a time in the seat you don't want one.
