Considering the state of the union, the results are really no surprise. People are discontent. The promise of change and a new approach was too much for many to resist. There is plenty of work to be done. The actions taken in the next four years will be dramatic. When looking for the results, I remain cautiously optimistic.

P.S. Be prepared for changes in the capital gains tax structure.

Many who voted were ignorant. Typical Obmam voter:

http://abcnews.go.com/Video/playerIndex?id=5990076

We haven handed control to the ignorant voter.

Anyway, it all starts with stifling dissent. They kicked reporters off the campaign who did not tow the company line. They are already are calling for the re-establishment for the fairness doctrine, which stifles free speech. And they black list tv stations which ask tough questions.

They are already talking about raising taxes and cutting military spending, even thought military spending is so insignificant in the scheme of the budget.

Clearly what we have seen is the death of Capitalism, conservatism, and growth of greed.

This didn't start with Obama it started with Bush, and will accelerate with Obama.

The repulicans had their ass handed to them, and quite frankly they deserved it. They spent like Drunken Democrats and ran up an $11 TRILLION debt.

They did not cut spending, they did not stop earmarks, they had no restraint....so they got exactly what they deserved.

The American Public is in search for a conservative, positive message. The republicans did not step up. I fault my fellow wimp republicans who decide the remedy to losing an election is to move further left, which is not the case. They elected McCain because they decided that someone liberal can combat a liberal...problem is, they let the liberals set the framework for the conversation. You never win an argument when the other guy sets the framework. They argued on liberal premise.

Anyway, we will see if we can question the great Obama without being called racist. We will see if he will make better decisions about surrounding himself with America Hating Racists...

Anyway, time will tell. I fear for what kind of socialist experiment we are turning into and what my kids will have to give up to support it.

Clinton left with what, $3 trillion surplus

Bush is leaving with $11 trillion debt

who were they spending like?

i watched McCain's concession speech, which was a very good one. but the people in the crowd who booed when he mentioned Obama disgusted me - they'll be the ones trying to drive a wedge between us instead of bring the parties together to fix what is broken. I didn't hear any jeers or boos when Obama mentioned he got a call from McCain.

I just don't comprehend these actions.

Just like the sheeple quietly waiting in large crowds, until the RED light illuminates on the camera, and they start whooping, screaming, flailing arms, etc.

OH stop, I don't hear a single republican saying their moving to France, or giving speeches about "shrub".....c'mon your whining about booing falls on deaf ears here pal, the democrats are not exactly the arbiter of class.

Liberals have clearly demonstrated such low class attacks on Bush I best not hear anyone whine about a couple boos..be real, stop whining.

And, BTW, there was no surplus under Clinton, that is a complete lie. It was a "paper" surplus found by using some bullshit accounting methods.

Second, Bush was handed a failing economy and got hit with 9-11, that does not excuse the spending spree.

Third, the housing crash didn't help. However, the DEMOCRATS are responsible for the freddy/fannie crash. Rebpuclicans kept saying there was a problem, democrats ignored it. The proof is all over the place. Two weeks ago Clinton himself took the blame for that and said he never should have signed it.

So anyway, try a little depth in your comments, shallow, baseless, bumper sticker garbage gets under my skin...

did you all see some of the stats? 97 percent of blacks voted for obama yet they said it was not about race? WTF? Do you think that if it was about race someone would actually tell you? Polls like that are so stupid. There is no way they are accurate. Same thing goes for the people who said they did not care about race. I am not mad at Obama but rather the ignorate voters and young voters who dont know any better. I am really upset with the racist blacks who voted Obama ONLY because he was black. I fear those numbers are in the millions. I think that elections need to be question based....IE are you for or against this or that and after a question sheet is filled out of say 40 or so questions it tallys who you should vote for who shares your views. Maybe that will open peoples eyes up a bit.

Anyway, here is to 4 years of "Change" and I hope its for the better.

That's funny.
People don't like Obama and boo, you get disgusted.
Calling Palin a "C"... that's ok?

Obama is a disaster that will make Bush look like the good old days. Obama is Jimmy Carter on steriods.

I believe you own a small business? I really want to hear your story on tax day 2010. Actually, I can't wait.

Clearly a couple boos are worse than calling someone a c***.

Also, Steele is being interviewed on Fox. Remember when he ran? Democrats went and threw Oreos at him, I missed the outrage to that. Steele is a black guy just in case you don't remember... I didn't see any Republicans throwing Oreos at Obama.

Yeah, it was not about race. But all of the TV coverage was all about race. The first black president... historic moment... interviews with any and every black they could find. The not so subtle subtext was: "This will make up for slavery."

It won't. The victims will remain victims, because they want to use victimhood. I had nothing to do with slavery. So, I don't feel a need to make up for it.

What this is really about is electing a inexperienced, racist, socialist. Obama is each of those, and it's easily proven. Acorn leaders will be invited to the White House in the first 100 days to help "set the agenda", that's an Obama promise.

Get ready for:

- Stricter gun laws.
- Fairness doctrine.
- Expanded affirmative action (I know he said it's over, but he lies).
- Increased taxes on middle class and up. Allowing the Bush cuts to expire will raise taxes, and Obama can claim he didn't do it. The number floated down as low as $120k, I think it will go lower.
- Increased minimum wage, which will fuel inflation, and cause the economy to shed lower level jobs.
- Increased unionization with with "card check", (no secret ballot for union votes).

BTW, Hoover, an inept Republican, (Bush?), drove the country into the crash in '29. Contrary to what Joe Biden says, it was Hoover, not FDR who was president then. FDR took over an ailing economy and promptly rolled out the New Deal, which had a host of taxes, and unionization provisions. Historians now believe the crash of '29 was deepened and lengthened by FDR's economic policies.

We could ride out Obama with a Republican Congress. Obama, Reid and Pelosi will be tragic for America.

I was never a huge fan of Bush, I'm not a fan of what Osama has done here in IL. I'm hoping it will be different now that he's on a national platform. I am hoping that what will happen is all the people who voted for him thinking they will get a "free ride" will be sorely disappointed when he does nothing for them. Remember, he is a politician and nothing he says really matters and he won't be held accountable for any promises he makes.

A lot of people hoped that Bush would do better on a national platform than he did in Texas. Didn't work out so well.

Bush's legacy is Obama/Reid/Pelosi.

I like the quotation marks.

I remember my first black teacher. Fifth grade, Baltimore, around '70. I told my mom; she gasped.

The first day was novel; the rest of the year was school as usual.

I haven't seen much integrity in Obama. I think he will be more of a puppet president, compared to Bush who seems very bullish. The next 4 years will depend more on who he appoints around him.

All these people with high hopes will soon realize you can't have your cake and eat it too... because when you leave it to government, you often get neither.

Anyone spend any time on Obama's website? I did. I really wanted to be an educated voter and not just vote a party ticket.

I saw a lot of contradiction and more McCain mudslinging. Nothing of any substance regarding the HOW, no matter how deep I dug.

Here are my two questions:

1. If Obama is going to attack "big business" with tax hikes, how does he propose to keep jobs in North America? As soon as it's too difficult for business to stay here they'll leave in even bigger droves...doesn't anyone see that the jobs go, too?

2. The next item up is attacking "big oil." And we're also going to investigate alternative fuels as another way to stick it to "big oil." Doesn't anyone realize that the oil companies are funding the highest level of alternative fuel research? They're not stupid. They know that they need to expand their reach into energy as a commodity, not only oil.

And I loved how he painted McCain's abortion views...it sounded like if you voted for McCain he would personally come to your house, rape your wife and daughter, and make them keep the baby.

Another thing that has been killing me all day is the worldwide community and our media exclaiming how the races are coming together and choosing a black man to lead the most powerful nation on the planet. That it is so wonderful.

As I see it... they (Obama) spent a ton more money getting the black voter to get out and vote black. I know there were a bunch of white voters casting a vote for Obama, but I think blacks had one advantage that us whites don't have and that's unity inside their race!!

Am I a racist? Probably to some extent. I never thought I was, but I think racism is worse today than yesterday and might even get worse before better. I also think there is a whole lot of people in denial about racism too! They say they're not, but I really think inside they wouldn't share their dinner table or allow their children to marry black.
Is that racism? I don't know. I think there a lot folks that think they just got some extra privileges today and it aint me.

A few things regarding this:

First, racism isn't illegal. It's not a desirable trait, but it's not illegal. You are free to like who you want, based on whatever criteria you choose. (At least for now).

Second, I don't care about Obama's skin tone. Unlike most of the American electorate, I know something about the man, and I detest him. He's a racist, and a marxist. A couple of quotes from Obama's book:
"white man's greed runs a world in need" - B.H. Obama
"That's just how white folks will do you." - B.H. Obama
One of my favorites:
ย“How I learned to talk to white people is to not scare them... don't make any sudden moves... don't appear radical...ย” - B.H. Obama
Obama was mentored by Frank Marshall Davis, a communist.

Finally, race relations will get worse, much worse. I am already sick of the first black this, the first black that, blacks can do this, or that... As long as we cast each other into groups, we are doomed to be divided. The country won't progress until we quit noticing skin pigment.

I can't comment in here about this, my racial bone will stick out for sure after what I just saw on CNN. And, it's not him that I'm referring to....

You mean the news reporters that seem to have a hard time finding any exuberant people that aren't black?

Surely just a coicidence. All I've heard from them is "Black. Black. Black. Black."

I can't but wonder if many of those celebrating even voted.

I'm thinkin' some people changed their votes...

Black republican votes (approximate):

2000: 750,200
2004: 293,000

And for what it's worth:

Black democratic votes (approximate):

2000: 5,710,000
2004: 7,880,000

B Hussien O, Promised to take wealth from those who earned it to give more to those who don't. Thats why he won. He is a socialist, marxist, racist person and is not my pres. Never will be. Jeremiah Wright sealed it for me. All of a sudden maintaining my emmissions dosen't seem that important anymore. 2 of my three vehicles are exempt under my state law so screw algore too, that crap comes off. From now on consider me anti green and anti democratic. I will never forget the radio broadcast of that young female gushing that if B HUSSEIN O wins she won't have to pay her mortgage or for gas anymore!!! BHO landed the idiot vote, none of his principals are American principles. Sorry for the rant, just how I see it. This is just the beginning of the end of something great.

Sorry, I'm a little bitter.

I didn't know either and so Googled it. I guess it means "Head Nigga in Charge." Not really funny IMO, even if a black guy was wearing it. If a disparaging term is going to be off limits, it should be off limits to all.
I also found some things said in this thread regarding race to be quite disappointing. You know who you are.

The race issue isn't pleasant. I seriously doubt it will go away by ignoring it.

It was strongly implied that whites who didn't vote Obama were likely racist.

Blacks voted 90%+ for Obama. Are you telling me that black people are different than whites and are a monolithic political block?

And now, there is the strong possiblity that any criticism of President Obama will charaterized as racist in nature.

Am I a racist for pointing out that Obama is a racist? Does it make me racist for noticing? I also am aware of his policies in other areas that I don't agree with. But Obama is a racist, his writings indicate that.

Race is going to be a big issue for the forseeable future. We need to deal with it, all sides of it. This is a political/off topic thread. I don't endorse slurs, but I do think posting about it gives people an outlet.

Racisim will be a Big issue for the next president and the country. I think it's a corner we'll be turning and showing a new face, good or bad it's a matter of evolution and change. Some people can roll with the punches and some can't,

It's frustrating to see it as such a big deal this time (my gawd, will the media please STOP telling us it's not about race? Doesn't that mean it is?). My hope is now that we've had the "first black president" it will let race be ignored in all subsequent elections. I can't wait for two different races to run again in the future and have it actually be a vote about their policies...

Black people in this country vote democratic 9:1 the difference this year was they turned out to vote in record numbers in support of the first black candidate. They've strongly supported the democratic nominee just have never tuned out to vote in record numbers. IF I were black I would certainly be thrilled to see someone of my own race make it to the highest office in the land. Just imagine if there were 43 black presidents and now finally a white one.
I vote for the candidate I feel is best suited for the task at hand. I do the same when hiring someone, I am a registered Independent. I could see positives in both candidates. The personally think Obama will do a fine job IF he governs to the center left. If he goes way left he will fail miserably. It's hard to tell what you have until you actually have it. Same goes when you interview someone almost everyone interviews well. The concern is Obama interviewed one way in the primaries and another in the general election. He went left to beat hillary and came back to the center/left to win the general. It will be interesting to say the least.

And if that caused you to vote for him, it'd make you a racist.

Blacks traditionally vote 85-90% democratic. But this time, it was 95%, and of a much larger group of voters.

Black votes for the republican ticket dropped from about 750,000 in 2004 to about 1/3 that this time around.

I'm sure there's plenty of white racist voters too, but they probably all vote republican, so you'd never know how many seemed to be voting on skin color until a black republican candidate gets the nomination against a white democrat.

That's interesting...

A little more there CC???

Just goog'ed a little there CC...

B Hussein Obama, with a Muslim name, appointing a Jew to office, tells me he has no [spiritual] conviction.

Typical political maneuver. Stand for nothing.

And he purported faith in Christ. Same old story, same old song and dance.
