Anybody know anything about the Pro-Park lifts? I'm familiar with the Bend-Pak and Rotary Lift names, but the Pro-Park guys look to have a nice four-post with a manual, low-profile bridge jack.
It's a dream right now, but want to get some research out of the way, so who can brain dump some knowledge on lifts? |

I saw one at "Hot August Nites" last year. They don't look quite as crappy as some out there. They're made by direct lift. The cheap one, $1,700 may not have the better locking system that the $2,000 has, you can't tell from the catalog.
There are no approvals on these lifts, Direct Lift does state that they're made in a ISO 9001 factory. There were a few complaints on the web last winter BUT, I can't remember if they were about the lifts, the service or whatever. There's some really bad ones out there that I wouldn't even walk under. I'm not big on having the highest dollar equipment (Like Snap-On) in my shop but the exception would be a lift. When I get mine (2 post) it will be a Bend Pak. The medimum duty BendPak is a 9,000 lb., compared to the ProPark 9,000, there's only a $2-300 dollar difference and you usually can get free shipping on a BP. For me, It's like the $50 helmit rule. |

The race shop I worked in had a 2 post BP. Loved it.
And BP's are ETL approved and meet ANSI standards. |

I'm kind of wanting a four-post if I can swing it. But the minimum pad height on the bridge jacks is pretty high for sports cars (4.5"). I was mostly curious about the Pro-Park because they have a fairly cheap, manual bridge jack system with a minimum pad height of 3.5"...
We've always had two-post Bend-Pak or Rotary at the shops I've been at. Never an issue with them, not sure what's got me thinking four-post... maybe setting toe with the car happily on its wheels... |

Ah, first coffee. The four post guys have no ceiling height requirements. City by-laws won't let me have a 12ft ceiling that most two-post lifts want...

You can get a "Low Ceiling" 2 post. The standard one's have a 11'10" column height, the Low one has a 9'3" column height and has a plate on the floor connecting the 2 columns.
2 or 4 is a matter of personnal preference. I'm not wild about working with a 4 post, but that's just me. At least you can move a 4 post around with the caster kit. |
