In most of the country WINTER is here. That means snow, and even worse, salt, sand, and other chemicals all out on the road. Its very important if you plan to drive your Vette year round (as I do) or have another car you appreciate and drive year round you get a good coat of detergent-proof wax or sealer on the body. Even more so for those metal parts.

My last Vette was coated in oil on the underbody so I did not spend much time under there. But I purchased my Impala with under 30K miles, and it was very clean when I got it. Periodically I get underneath there, scrub it down with a brush and soap, power wash it, and then coat it in wax or more recently ZCS (Zaino Clear Seal). Helps to protect it from the salt and keeps it lookin showroom new under there!

I'm really bad when it comes to that stuff. My vette is pretty dirty right now. I didn't get a chance to clean it before the cold came on strong. Once I get a nice day to drive it I'll get it cleaned up.

Maybe instead of pressure washer, plug your garden hose onto the hot water heater, or an hose adapter for the sink. Use the hose spray gun low pressure to clean underneath with hot water. It will knock off the chunky jam, and leave some protecting oil film.

Very beneficial before you pump grease into the fittings. Also get caps for the grease fittings, so they stay clean. You don't wanna' pump any gritty jam into the fittin's.

You DO grease your fittin's... right???
