My 8 year old daughter wants an email address.

Her friends have one, she thinks she could have one.

She shares one with my wife today.

I told her I'd get her one providing she can only get email from people I approve. IN other words, if I don't add a person to her addresses, she can't get it.

Does such a service exist?

yahoo allows for a lot of restrictions...

but realize one thing... she will be open to all the same bullshit spam we get.

I would add another to your own domain and control it with outlook.

I don't have an outlook server for my domain. I'm using Yahoo as my server and forwarding my domain though there as a PPOE function.

Do I need an outlook server to do that?

no.

You can add her do the domain and add parental controls that will stop all email except what is in her address book.

That's about the best you are going to do...

Also, work with her to be responsible. Don't lay down edicts without some whys on the right way to behave on the net.

Thanks. Does outlook express have the same functionality? I don't have a copy of Outlook.

I don't have a domain set up on my wireless, I'll have to set that up too. I was hoping for something web based.

She's as responsible as an 8 year old can be, but she's still 8.
