I cleaned out the gashes good, put in a big drop of gloss black out of a can. I let it dry for a day, then got a single edge blade and shaved it off, above the factory paint.

I let it dry again for another day, but not enough. If it doesn't dry again, after you 'shave' the excess, it will come OUT, by rolling itself up, and out of the chip, as you sand it smooth with 2000 paper.

The gloss black didn't match up very well either. Who'da thunk THAT???

I think its a very good improvement. The hood is looking good in the pics.

What was your final process?

P.S. I just bought Megs Ultimate Compound to "try."

Looking good! The generic touch-up black seems to match mine pretty well.

Good job Chuck! That hood is like a mirror! Nice ceiling and brick wall.

Looks better than the other pic if I remember right.

BTW, you can get a little, plastic holder for the razor blade that lets you set the depth of the blade. They cost around $5.

The correct touch up paint only costs $9.95.

I'm too lazy to look it up, what's the difference between that and the fine cut or medium cut cleaner?

I have a similar pair of dings in my hood... they will be fixed when the car is painted.
