Just above the back window there is a bead across the top where two panels are joined. I noticed this bead started separating. Didn't notice any thread holding it together. Is this maybe glued? Any ideas how to repair?
Thanks in advance.
David

I would appreciate that.
I think there is a tag inside, I may be able to contact the manufacturer.
If I keep the top down all the time no one will see it.

:me2:

I will be going to the Corvette Expo in the morning. Hopefully I'll remember to ask when I see one.

Well, unfortunately I didn't get a "confident" answer to the question. However, I'm betting it is very similar to the way Al Knoch is building them, which I was fortunate enough to witness. Here is his top guy working:

At this point, the top panel is only attached to the sides, by stitching. The rear window surround panel is attached to the structure at the top by a row of staples.

He then overlaps the top and staples it as well.

Then he attaches the bead strip - which is "flat" at first. It is stapled, through the two layers of top fabric and into the structure.

Once its attached, he folds it in half. The bead strip appeared to have some type of metal core, so it will hold its shape once folded over.

He then lightly hammers it flat and attaches the end decorations.

He did use adhesive to attach the side panels to part of the structure.

Like I said, I don't know if this is exactly the way yours is put together, but it should give some ideas. Hope it helps.

WOW, Thank you. Great pics, and explanations.
I know you enjoyed watching, and I really appreciate your effort to help.
You are one of the reasons this forum is becoming so popular.

Wish I had known about the expo a little earlier I put-off a trip to the Jacksboro area this week. I allways find a need to be up there in late Oct.

Those pictures are amazing. Isn't it ridiculous how easy the pros make it look???

My pleasure - it was very interesting to watch. I just hope it helps you get the job done.

And BTW, if you need the pics in full-size, just let me know.

You're not kidding. That guy has been doing the tops for A.K. for years. He did two start-to-finish, this C3 and an early C4, just during the show hours on Saturday.
