This is not for my C4, but I am at a loss. My wife's car was parked under a power line that seemed to be a popular gathering spot for some local birds. Anyway, I cleaned all of the "stuff" off, but the paint looks etched. How can I get this out!!! Stupid birds!!!!

It may well need to be buffed out. Birds need a less corrosive diet ;-)

Sounds like the acid in the poop ate at the very top of the clear coat. A quick buff will probably take car of that. Don't use a very aggressive compound though, just a light polish.

If the paint looks etched, it probably is.
This "shit" can eat thru the clear and eat into the basecoat. If it's into the base, touchup paint is the only answer.

Try a little Meguiars Cleaner Wax or ScratchX (or similar), if the color shows up on the rag, you'll need touchup paint.

birds have gizards, fellas - they have to have some grit (e.g. sand) in their diet, so when they leave something behind on your nice clean car, it needs to be removed very carefully otherwise it's like cleaning your car with sandpaper. If the etching is isn't too deep you might get away with some scratch remover, but usually - once it's etched it's there for good...

Hi All,

Bird dropping stains can be removed with Malco Rejuvenator. It contains a liquid clay and a polymer wax. It is a one step professional detailing product. You can find it online at Flash wax dot com.

At our car show last June, there was a guy that just bought a brand new ZR1 in Jetstream Blue from the dealership and took delivery a few days before the show. I wanted a new ZR1 on display so he said we could keep it at the Dealership a few extra days to have in the show as long as it was in the showroom.

Well... as we had to move cars around for the show, I asked his son to take the ZR1 outside temporarily while we jockied cars around. About an hour later I went out to bring the car back inside and there was a bird turd the size of Silver Dollar right on the hood in front of the clear lexan port. I immediately called the owners son and the supervisor of the detailing department. That bird crap etched an outline of the turd into the clear coat. The best detailer there buffed it out but was afraid to do too much buffing on the new finish as he didn't want to make it more conspicous than it already was. All I know, is that I'm glad I didn't park that car. His son parked it under a ledge where pigeons frequently sit and poop. I think they left it alone as it was ok from 5ft away but if you got up close you could still see a faint ghost of an outline... Sucks to be that guys kid. He was not angry at me at all and he wound up winning some trophies for another car he had there. 1969 COPO Camaro that he bought in 1969 from that very dealership. Amazing Car.

Thats my bird story for the day.

Someone has to say it, so I guess it will be me.

My first thought when I saw the title of this topic was "Why would anyone want to clean bird droppings."
