yea... know the problem.

take the retrator wheel out of the floor/lower rocker. Remove the plastic coverings and blast the damned thing clean with compressed air. Fuzz, hair, dust, coins, straw wrappers... you name it, gets caught up in there and really screws it up.

It is a very basic mechanism, you just need to be 100% sure it is clean.

easy - move the seat all the way forward, remove big ass torx bolt, remove plastic cover.

So easy you are saying "d'oh!" right about now.

thanks it is improved 80%, didn't go away but i think it suppose to cinch in spirited driving...
as far as simple mechanism i don't think so, seem like alot is linked to each other to behave in a certain manner, regardless it was not that dirty, an accumulation, of dust bunnies, compacted, but i cleaned it out as best as i could, no compressed air, just lungs...

thanks bogus who needs cf?

anyone is smart they should advertise here and not get lost in the clutter, it would stand out and enough of the serious folk come here anyhow....

Glad I could help! There is a simple intertia takeup with a counterweight to keep it under control. It will tighten during drive if you activate the intertia counterweight.

I started on CF 9 years ago... got shit-canned Dec 2007. Apparently, they are more concerned with behaving than with actual knowledge... oh, well. We got ours, right!?!?!

CentralCoaster, JeffVette and Notorious all got burned at the same time. This place has become CF without all the politics and the attitude... also, we have the right answers!

i got burned for a week, my fault and then a month for defending myself from antagonistic losers, long to short, is if you get the answer in one response, who needs 75 which would include irrelevant or inaccurate diagnosis.

God forbid you defend yourself over there... I hate the mentality that has taken over.

Such a shame...

One thing to keep in mind is that at some point, there was a factory recall on the seat belts. Try calling a dealer near you and tell them of your problem. It could be that your car was never fixed, and the dealer will replace the seat belt for nothing.

didn't think they would establish an end date on something like that, the cinching has improved but did not go away... oh well

the thing is, all recalls do time out... and not all cars qualified. It is a range of VINs... I have no clue if your car qualified.

Yeah...but from a legal standpoint.....not one Manufacturer would turn you away with a seat belt issue......

Push that button and see where it takes you..

One time with a Nissan retracting deal on the door.....it was broken so I took it to the Dealer to be fixed. They quoted some outrages price to fix it......I told them to put it back together and leave it alone....

....when I went to get it from them....the thing was fixed and everyone was sorta quiet as to why it was fixed at no charge......

Even though this post has been around for 10 years, it was helpful to me in removing the seat belt assembly.

It's a T-45 torx bolt, BTW. And it took a LONG time because I only got 1 click on the ratchet with the limited space behind the seat. AND... it got a lot tougher to turn when the bolt was nearly out.

I noticed that! Good old days... before facebook took everyone.

I think the captive nut is pinched, making it tighter as it goes.
