1992 LT1/MN6.

Car is hard to start an only fires when floored.

Stumbling a bit, a touch of a miss, and a strong smell of gas and unburned fuel. No smoke visable, but definately running fat.

I think the FMS Blues I put on 5+ years ago are taking a dump.

Tonight, I am going to pull the fuel rails and test for leaks. Also going to check all plug wires. I have a small FPG on the rail, will check that, too, didn't have time before startup this morning.

Thoughts?

I think you need to check your FSM and do the diagnostics

Any gasoline in the oil pan?

I sure hope not...

I am betting on a leaking injector (or two, or three). Fuel pressure leak down test will tell for sure and it is soo easy to do.

ps--I have a set of original injectors out of my 95 you can have cheap, but personally I would be contacting Jon at FIC.

Does it sound like it's firing all cylinders?

How old it the IAC?

Is it worst after letting the car sit 20 minutes then trying to restart?

Or does it also do it in the morning after sitting overnight?

Does it do it if you shut the car off and then restart it within a couple minutes?

I have something dying.

The pressure is dying off quick... but when I did the card board under the injector trick, nada...

So... I am thinking it's either an injector or the fuel pump.

The reason I am thinking injector (part stuck open, but not all the time), is that when I finally DID get it started, it was crap, but after a few seconds of blipping the throttle, and revving it past 4k, it cleared its throat and started running right.

really sounds like a leaky injector to me. Let me send you a set, since its a lt1 its a 1/2 hour job.. IF that fixes the problem, you can pay us then for the injectors. I will even take the FMS 24's on trade for Bosch 3 24's

I would actually like to have rates closer to OEM, if that is possible. I will worry about needing hotter injectors when I update the engine.

The new injectors arrived yesterday! ***** (5 stars) for customer service!!!!

They are in... now all I need to do is fix up the MAP sensor connector. Tomorrow morning.

Just got back in.

I installed the injectors last night, and was able to pressurize them, but the MAP connector exploded into a few green pieces of plastic.

I fixed that this morning and the FPG was showing 20 PSI before start! That means the injector(s) didn't leak down over night!

Started right up, smooooooth as silk. Never been this smooth. Matched injectors really make a difference in these batch fire engines!

Great news. I started up my 90 today and just listened to the engine purr. Made me think how much I really like her. I feel less bad about throwing a few more bucks into her.
