OK, so I finally have a Hurst shifter (with bearings) ready for install. Not something I feel I can tackle. Anyone semi local have any experience with this install? I'd rather pay a friend than a Corvette shop. They quoted me about $350 for the install.

I'm pretty excited to get this thing in the car, so I probably can't hold out too long. I'll take it up the bum on this install if I have to, but I'd rather not.

If anyone can help, I will supply beer, pizza, a 1:8 scale 1985 Corvette model, or whatever. Some cash too.

Lemme know!

drop the exhaust.

remove the knob

remove the console

remove the rubber boot.

remove the old shifter

reverse process.

It ain't all that hard. I saved mine for a clutch change.

I'm thinking I need to lift the front end up a little for that. I don't have a safe way to do it. I'll ask around and see if any of my buddies have access to some ramps or something. I suppose buying ramps is cheaper than the install!

ramps won't do it... you really need to get all 4 corners off the ground.

may I suggest:

That is by far the BEST floor jack, on earth, period. No questions asked. I have one and LOVE IT.

It ain't cheap... but it rocks... and lifts 29".

And a pair of these:

Well, all 4 actually.

It is the best $900.00 you will EVER spend. It's a one time investment in your health and wellbeing.

yes, $900... but think of all the $350+ bills you would be able to absorb because of those pieces...

exhaust upgrades... clutches... oil pan... all the fluid changes...
