at 8:45 A guy at work, who races a truck and instructs @ the Glen, is really astonished as to how badly he's driving. More than a can width from all the apexes around the track. Hunting for the apex in others. Describes the accident as "only a matter of time" Was this his 1st time on the track? Quote:

High powered car, inexperienced driver, I've seen it many times.
The guy should have gotten a bunch of seat time in a more forgiving car, learned the lines, learned how to threshold brake. A car set up like this one is not for the inexperenced, they're twitchy, th control inputs are much smaller and need to be precise. Slicks are way less forgiving than R-comps, etc. Probably one of those guys who says "I don't need an instructor". People like scare the shit out of me on a racetrack. I've had my car busted up twice by guys like this. He probably also has newbie tunnelvision, doesn't have a clue if there's another car beside him or behind him. |
