The NCM VIR HPDE continues to be a premier event and its 6th year should be no exception. In addition to our regular 2 day driving event for students and instructors we will continue with PrimeDrive, a 1-day event for those who want to just try a DE to see if they like it (warning: the Darkside is addictive). For 2012 the classes will be slightly readjusted with a beginner, low intermediate, high intermediate, advanced and instructor. All beginners will have 2 sessions of exercises in addition to their track sessions. On Monday at lunchtime students and instructors (only) will be able to take part in a lead-follow to see the line at low speed. Tuesday morning at o’dark thirty will be a track walk. If time permits on Tuesday at lunch we may have parade laps for spectators. Participants interested in taking part in the parade laps will have to register and get a wrist band, similarly, everyone (other than a student/instructor) wanting to ride with an instructor during a track session will have to register at the NCM HQ tent as well. To see the Event Schedule click here.
Andy Pilgrim and Shields Bergstrom will return and be teaching an advanced driver class as well as giving rides in student cars. Signup for all rides will be at the NCM HQ desk in the paddock. Also returning are GM engineers and designers. We have also arranged for the track photographer to be in attendance.
Students are reminded that their VIR Drivers Classification Form is due immediately after registering and no later than April 1. All registrants must download and complete appropriate sections of the VIR Participant’s Package and bring the required forms with them. Both forms have been updated so make sure you read through them carefully so that you are fully prepared to take part and have a good time at VIR.
Also new to VIR this year – we are adding a teen street safety school. Students will be learning car control and safe driving techniques in a series of exercises on the dry skidpad and in the classroom. Open to teens over 16 with a valid driver’s license or permit with parental permission (those under 18) in a street legal vehicle. This is a 1 day school and will be on Monday, June 25th. School limited to 10 students. The 2-day HPDE is $465 for an NCM member and $505 for Non-member (includes a 1 year discounted membership), PrimeDrive is $100 and Teen Street Safety School is $75.
