Forget about waxing and car shows, ZpeedFest is all about performance and competition. This latest addition to the NCM’s varied event program is dedicated to the speed enthusiasts, both as participants and as spectators. Initially developed for the “Z” Corvettes, ZpeedFest is open to participants with all models of GM competition oriented product including Camaro, Cobalt, CTS and other. The event kicks off on Thursday May 31 with a day of seminars from tuners and competitors filled with “how 2” information and demonstrations. For those arriving earlier on Wednesday, the Z06Vette.com group invites ZpeedFest participants to join them at their Bar-B-Que at Holiday Inn Express (formerly the Baymont) on Wednesday evening. It’s pay as you go but you can indicate attendance in the ZpeedFest registration. \nFriday morning starts early at Beech Bend with Drag Racing tech and 3 hours of testing and fun passes down the quarter mile in the 4 different activity categories; Bracket, Pro Index, Zpeed and Test/Tune/Fun. Pro Index will have 4 classes to run in while Zpeed will be an MPH Challenge with 2 categories. ZpeedFest participants who register for Drag Racing will be able to take part in all activities and for the drag racer just interested in fun, the all-day Test/Tune/Fun category will give you ample pass opportunities to learn and practice. After lunch the racing starts in earnest with Eliminations in all categories except fun runs. The day ends with trophy awards.\n\nSaturday is devoted to Autocross at Beech Bend. There are 3 competition classes; sticky, street and ladies’ plus a fun class so there is racing for everyone.
