Good Afternoon CGs!

Can't believe it's August already. Time flies whether you're having fun or not.

Tool sales picked up slightly but mainly because I was able to source some more stuff last week. Gotta have it to sell it.

John, hope the wife is feeling better. Safe travels to everyone hitting the road.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Bob, glad you're getting around a little better.

Tommy, you should know better by now.

Picked up another used tool lot today. A guy I bought quite a bit from in the past. He sent me pictures and price and I agreed. He stopped by today and dropped it off. Lots of work but worth it in the end.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Letty, people are stupid, and sometimes it costs money to be stupid. I wouldn't work for free and I wouldn't expect someone else to work for free.

I did manage to get the grass cut yesterday. That was good because we had another thunderstorm last night. So at least it's done.

Tool sales have been extremely slow for the entire month of July. I just picked up some stuff yesterday and I seem to be having much better luck with it already. So hopefully that's a sign things are picking up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Hot and nasty here, gurus. I was going to cut the grass but then I remembered Tommy's motto "why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?"

Marcus, welcome back. Glad the car ran well and neat story about the Corvettes.

John, glad the recovery is still on track.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Another hot one here. Washed the daily yesterday so of course it rained in the afternoon. Never would have guessed it from looking at the sky. Oh well, it's still cleaner than it was.

Still haven't gotten around to installing the new radio in the Corvette. It's a pretty involved process, I guess I need to get started.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Hot and muggy here early in the morning. Kids are up and singing along to the radio. What was it like to be care free in the summer? It's been so long I can't remember.

Wife and I are working today so I'll tote them over to the in-laws house in a bit.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hope you're feeling better, Bob. I can't binge watch tv, drives me nuts. I sure can get lost in the internet, though.

Good luck Tommy with whatever you guys decide.

Bob, glad the surgery went well.

On a short little trip with the kids. They've already been swimming so it's a good day in their eyes.

Good Morning CGs!

Thanks John, glad to see I didn't miss a day

Tommy, don't worry, Sue got you some flowers.....you just have to go to the nursery, put them in a truck, deliver them to a customer, and then plant them. Then you can enjoy the view.

Took the TA out last night with the family and got nice cream. Nice little summer night. No complaints there.

Marcus, how is the 55 running?

Hope everyone has a great day!

RECHARGE OR NOT TO RECHARGE, THAT IS THE QUESTION...

There's no real risk in it. The system has a low pressure switch and a high pressure switch that as long as they are working should prevent the compressor from engaging if the pressure is not within the correct limits. So you could cause the compressor to cycle off and on if you are running it with low pressure but if you are not running it at all the clutch will not be engaged and the compressor won't turn. In a very long-term scenario that could be bad for the compressor because it won't stay lubricated but I don't think you have to worry about that. The other concern would be that if all of the freon leaks out then you will have to repair the leak, repair any the other problems, replace your accumulator/dryer, replace your orifice tube, vacuum the system and then recharge it correctly.

Technically the correct way to recharge the system is to vacuum it down with a machine that also recovers it and then put the correct predetermined weight of freon back into it. The backyard method is to use a set of real gauges and go based on pressure. I don't really recommend using those cans that have the gauge built in.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Happy birthday to Tommy T-bone!

Hit here today and a bit humid. Cutting the grass now and actually had to stop because I started sweating a little too much and felt woozy. Sitting in the shade with a big glass of ice water to cool off. Feeling better already.

Went to the barber today for the first time in get this...15 years. My wife has cut my hair ever since we got married and I've had a brush cut since then. But she decided I should grow my hair out a bit so I've been doing that for 2 months now. It was a bit shaggy so I went it to get it cleaned up. Guy did a nice job. $25 which I didn't think was too bad. Gave him a $5 tip and said I'll see you in 8 weeks lol.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Warm here as well. Should be a nice day.

Driveway guys are here to sealcoat the blacktop. Should look nice once they finish.

I've been driving the Corvette all week. Nothing like driving with the tip down to make you forget about everything else.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hard to believe the year is half over. Decided I need to drive the Vette more before it's too late. Took her out last night and she ran like a beast. Very easy to speed without even noticing it. I need to get the trans am smogged, too. Maybe tomorrow.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Tinkered with the Corvette for a while yesterday. Came up with basically nothing. Ran a battery test and it came back good. Disconnected the terminals and did another test and it was still good but lower volts, CCA reserve, and life expectancy. So now I have to assume it's just the older battery I swapped in there will be on its way out. I guess that's good and it's nothing major so far.

Bob - yes the thermal imager is a great diagnostic tool that I picked up in my tool quest. You can get a nice flir for a reasonable price or a used Snap-on off ebay around $400.

Raining now and I need to cut the grass before they come fertilize tomorrow. Great.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Marcus, hope you have a good trip.

As for me I spent some time upside down in the passenger seat of the Corvette. Then I got smart and latched the door with a screwdriver to put the modules to sleep. Still have a weird / intermittent draw. All fuses looked good with the amp hound. Found one relay was being energized by the BCM. So I swapped it and it's no longer hot, but the BCM is showing a heat pattern that it's still active. I need to find out why. The thermal imager is a fantastic diagnostic tool for this, by the way.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Did manage to tinker on the trans am again. Got the string all set up on jack stands like I saw demonstrated on the internet. Got the toe adjusted and it's much better. I'll call it 97% good. Of course being a little too much of a perfectionist means I'll take it in to get aligned anyway.

As far as the continued beer discussion from yesterday...I'll have a couple and then stop. I don't like the feeling at the time of having too many (or the feeling the next morning). As I've gotten older I've pretty much given up on hard liquor altogether. Just doesn't suit me anymore.

I need to get the grass cut this weekend and should stop by to see mom. Not sure what else the wife had planned for me.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Got the steering rack in the trans am finished up aside from some minor adjustments. I need to set up a string and do the at home measuring method to get the toe set a little better. Shouldn't be too bad.

In response to the chat the other day.... alcohol can be great or terrible depending on how you look at it. I enjoy a few pops like anyone else. I'm not into it like my younger days where it was a race to the bottom. Like anything it's ok in moderation. I respect anyone that can be sober because it's a huge commitment. One for the best, of course.

Go attack the day, Gurus. Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

We had a nice time on our little mini-vacation. Spent the weekend up in the UP of northern Michigan. The drive up there was plagued with traffic and construction but it was worth it in the end. Got some work done around the farm to the delight of my sister-in-law's father. Also took the kids to the beach and got to relax a bit around the bonfire. Definitely my kind of place. Just for reference, the address is not on Google maps. Not quite the middle of nowhere but not far off. The roads are paved, though. Looking forward to the next trip up there whenever that may be.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

The year is half over already. Absolutely wild.

Speaking of time I was talking to one of my neighbors down the street today - he saw RR#2 walking in the house and commented on how big he'd gotten. Said he remembered us pushing the stroller with #1. Time flies.

Good luck with the roof, Letty.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I need to see the mouth mechanic myself for a check up and cleaning.

As far as your car, Letty, sounds like you need to date a mechanic or something like that to fix those blend door actuators.

As far as the roof I can't help you but I know a guy named TB who loves plumbing

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good evening CGs!

Raining now. Didn't start until this afternoon so we had a little bit of a break.

The bad driving epidemic is everywhere unfortunately. Covid had a big impact. The reports say that there has been a 15% increase in speed related deaths after covid. That's pretty significant. Just look around you at the way people drive now. There is no regard for safety or anyone else on the road.

I need to start the stereo project on the C5 but I've been postponing it. Haven't really had a good block of free time to do it which is what I need. I think it should take me about 5 hours to do everything. I might just put the head unit in by itself and do the backup camera and everything else later.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Nice looking bike there, Marcus. Speaking of bikes what happened with the little Honda? I can't remember if you finished it up or not.

Posting pictures on the site isn't too difficult, the problem is there is a size restriction. Most phones take such high resolution photos that they are too large for the site. So you need to use a photo resizer app before you post them.

Hot and humid here today. The rain yesterday was miserable. Sump pump has been running non-stop. No end in sight any time soon.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Gloomy morning here. Rain predicted for the next 12 days or so. Makes it a little tough to cut the grass and get the outdoor chores taken care of. Hopefully we get a reprieve soon.

Finally got a head unit for the Corvette. Found a lightly used unit on ebay but it's high end and the price was right. It's a few hours to get that installed so I hope I can find some free time for that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Yes, we are ok, thanks. We did have a tornado come through the other day. Luckily my town was ok. 50-60 mph winds and a lot of rain but that was it. My friend who lives 15 minutes away got hit bad. Main house has some broken windows and cosmetic damage. Entire privacy fence was blown down. Tree snapped in half and fell on cars. Garage is standing but was structurally damaged. No one was hurt that I know but I read there were some injuries / deaths.

After that we took a small vacation with the kids in the northern part of Michigan. Had a great time but I was off the internet for a bit.

Back now, glad to see everyone is still alive and kicking.

A few pictures from our trip.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Just got home from a 3 day trip with the kids. 800 miles of driving but we spent a couple of days up in Petoskey and Mackinac City, Michigan. Did some historical sites visits and had a good time overall. Post a few pictures tomorrow.

Good Morning CGs!

Sunny and warm here, 79*. A reprieve from the heat but back to 88* tomorrow.

Car show yesterday was nice. It was packed, we got one of the last 3 spots available. Saw a lot of nice cars. The C5 was a big hit with the supercharger. Lots of interest. Talked cars with a few other Corvette owners. Rugrat #1 got a couple of tshirts. It was a good time. Hopefully I can get the steering rack for the trans am eventually. It's been 2 weeks, need to find a other source. Then I can take both cars. One family there had three cars on display - 68? Barracuda, early 90s V12 jag convertible, and a 31 DeSoto. Pretty cool.

John, still thinking of selling the C4? Market is hot right now.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Went to drive the Corvette yesterday afternoon and the battery was dead as a doornail. I had previously done a draw test and didn't find anything. Tested the battery itself and it was bad. I was able to get that warrantied out today. Still made it to a car show with RR#2 after stealing the battery out of the trans am. Tonight another car show with RR#1. Nice weather, should be a nice time.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Been hot the past few days, upper 80s and 90s. Kids have been using the pool every day. Of course they won't get in without dad (which I can't understand). I always wanted a pool when I was a kid. You had to drag me out when I did get a chance to swim. Different times I guess.

Nice story about the forklift, Tommy. Always nice to "surprise" people with your skills.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hot here as well. 89 today, 92 tomorrow.

You're a better man than me, TB. I don't do roofs.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Thanks guys. Wife and kids got me some new weather tech floor mats for the vette. I'm happy because it's exactly what I wanted.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Today was a good day. Another trip around the sun for me. Took the day off work to celebrate. Wife and kids got me some new weather tech floor mats for the vette so I was pretty happy about that. Wife and I went to lunch just the two of us. We went to a car show as a family this evening. Can't beat days like that.

Hope everyone had a great one!

Coincidentally I have a little boy who pees in my pool despite me telling him not to.

Good Morning CGs!

Tommy, why was six afraid of seven?

Because seven was a registered six offender.

I'll see myself out.

Good Evening CGs!

Spent the day with the family. Fitting for such a day in history.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Sorry to hear about your friend, Tommy.

John, Corvettes melt in the rain - didn't you know that?

Hot one today. Went to mom's this morning and cut down some dead tree branches and did some yard work. Got to use the new chainsaw. Works pretty well.

Came home and got the sprinkler control valve installed and opened up. Everything is working so there's a bonus (I hate plumbing).

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Was hot here today, mid 90s. Still dropped the top on the Vette.

Tommy, that's a good song

Gris, that wrap is pretty wild!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

All these birthdays going on here!

To whom it may concern:

Happy early or belated birthday

Marcus, we will need to see some photos of all these mods you keep claiming you're doing. If there are no photos I don't think they really happened

Can't believe it's June already. Time flies whether you're having fun or not.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy Memorial Day.

Got the pool opened up yesterday. Toxic chemicals poured in and the pump set up. Went relatively smoothly. Had to change one valve that was leaking like a sieve. No big deal, it was 10+ years old and I had a brand new one on standby.

Despite taking a healthy break, I ended up picking up a couple of lots of tools this past week. Sold quite well but of course I was back to the old ways of being glued to my phone 24/7 (which is why I needed the break). Most is sold so hopefully that's that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Tommy, hope the toofs are better.

TB - those storm chasers have a couple of screws loose.

Bought a convertible top cleaner, protectant, and brush kit from chemical guys. Cleaner seemed to work well but the brush left hundreds of bristles on the top that I will have to get off using tape. Kind of irritated by that. Hopefully it's not and issue.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Tommy, that D├╝senburg must bring back memories. What were they like new?

Will be warm here again but not as hot as the past couple of days. No rain though. That comes Wednesday.

Good luck with the dog, Gris.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Ah yes, our lovely mayor....now you know how she got the nickname Beetlejuice. She's a real peach. Between her, the state's attorney, the city council president, and the governor they have ruined the city/county in the last 2 years. It's wild.

Heard a little bearing chirp on the corvette yesterday. Might be the alternator. I need to diagnose it later.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Hot couple of days here. AC in the Vette was cool but not cold. Guess I'll be breaking out the gauge set and topping off the freon.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
