The harness in the 92 is MUCH better than your 85. However, there is always a chance that something got chaffed or cut in some way. Remember, I do have about 2x the miles you do - 175k.

However, judging from the amt they debited to my card, they had to fix SOMETHING. I just can't wait to find out.

My guess? Dead UARTs, both of them.

UART = Universal Async Reciever/Transmitter. They are used in modems and other serial communications devices.

In the ECM, there are 2, one is a redundant backup, they both send the same info, on the same wire, to the CCM. There is a very real chance that one failed a long time ago and the other just died.

I am guessing both were DOA.
