Seems you now have some of the 'classic' symptoms of poor braking in a C4 (hard pedal, no brakes).

In my humble opinion, either the booster is not functional (you were playing with the hose, right?) or more likely the ABS system is now messed up. Things that have worked for other people:

1. Pull the ABS fuse
2. Exercise the ABS on wet roads

Only my opinion, but perhaps worth a try..?
