Clamped PS hose connections can't handle the pressure...

Subject: Clamped PS hose connections can't handle the pressure...

I have a power steering filter on the return line from the pump, before the cooler. I think there's too much restriction at high rpms which is causing the hose clamp feeding into to leak. I tried a new hose and clamp, no change.

Is there some other type of hose clamp that can handle this? The PS filter appears to have a nylon casing and has barbed ends.

I'm thinking I'll just ditch the filter entirely to get rid of the restriction. Hopefully then it doesn't start leaking at the barb on the cooler.

Last time I went to the track it sprayed all over the left fender, and I feared it was brake fluid.
