Oak Hardwood Floor Installation

Subject: Oak Hardwood Floor Installation

Well, as you should know from daily chat, my wife wanted hardwood floors. Which means I'm putting in hardwood floors...lol. We were able to find some very nice prefinished red oak 3/4 solid wood floors at Menards on sale for $3.39 sq foot. So we picked it up last week and I got started on the prep work on Thursday.

Moved furniture out of the living room:

Starter strip edge was laid out with a laser and a chalk line. Total expansion gap ended up being 1" once I trimmed the bottom of the drywall with a sawzall (PIA). Once that was down we laid out the first few rows of boards, selecting ones that fit well with minor loss at the ends. It's important to weed out the bad boards since the manufacturer states 10% will be bad right off the bat

Measured and cut a few rows worth at a time, then tap them together and nail with blind nails.

That's all we got done for the evening. About 12-14 rows. We'll get more finished up later.
