Beautiful car. I belong to a forum for that era of Dodges and Plymouths, I'm a real fan of them. I used to own a '47 Plymouth with that same engine, all original. Don't let the low HP numbers fool you, they have a lot of torque and can keep up pretty well. Overdrive models can run at 65 all day. I've got nothing against hotrodding old cars but it would be a crime to do anything to that one except maintain and enjoy it.
I've got a '56 230 cubic inch version of this same engine that's factory rated at about 130 HP. By that time, these Mopar flathead sixes could smoke any stock flathead Ford V8 ever made. I'm collecting vintage speed parts for it now and already have some cool stuff including an extremely rare Tattersfield dual carb intake. It's all going into an all original steel Model A I'm building as a period 1950s hot rod.
