The C4's styling pulls in another one

Subject: The C4's styling pulls in another one

One of younger Marines that works with me has decided that he wants a Corvette.

He's a real nice kid, smart, married to a nice girl, no children, mid 20's and already 2 combat tours. He has been at the program office for about a year and half and is doing real well here. The kind of Marine I really enjoyed having work for me when I was still in, now the kind of Marine I enjoy working with every day.

He comes to me 4 days ago telling me he wants to sell his Jeep (02 Wrangler 6" lift, 35's and what not) to buy a Corvette and wants to know if I'd help him out with the pro's and cons of different Corvettes. We talked a little about the differnt year differences. He really likes my 92 and is the same kid I let drive it at the Marine Corps ball "car wash" fund raiser earlier this year.

Turns out after he sold the Jeep (in like 1 day on Craigs list) he has little over 6 grand. So I figure about enough money to get a decent hi mile L98 C-4 or a rubber bumper C3 that needed some work. I tell him we'll look around for a few days and see what's out there.

I put in a few calls and started looking around local for him. Then he found a guy in Richmond selling a 93 LT1, A4, black on black 132K miles. Dead stock except for some black C5 Z06 wheels. Real nice looking car for the money, interior is very well kept as is everything else on it. I actually can't believe it's selling so cheap.

My only concern was that it's never had a WP or Opti replaced - but it's not leaking and runs like a new car, so honestly IMO if that's the biggest worry, I think he is still getting a pretty good deal. If it craps out I told him it's a pretty big job - but nothing that we couldn't take care of in his garage for about $600 in parts and a case of beers worth of time.

He is pretty happy with the find and is going to pick it up tomorrow. I'm going to try and get him to sign up here and hopefully contribute a little to his new Corvette ownership.
