The left is trying to grow the mind, open thought and eliminate intellectual and irrational emotional barriers so we as a nation and a world can move forward with a more open dialog.
The right is more concerned with preserving some idyllic image of the past, by stifling learning and emotional growth, all in the name of God and all the fire and brimstone he can unleash.
Where to begin with this rant.....first the poor kid up in Wyoming was brutally murdered because he was gay but that same thing happens everyday because of a hundred different reasons. None of it is right for any reason but it keeps on happening.

I have to agree with you on your overall view or organized religion, be it Christianity or Muslim or whatever. One of the worlds biggest leaders in a rebellion aginst organised religiosity was Jesus Christ himself. He was sent to spread God's truth against the rulers and religious leaders of his time. His answer was to follow me and what I teach and in doing so He will have a place for us when the time comes. He attacked the money changers and evil people in the temple because of what they were doing to what was pure. He was a bad ass when it came to discrediting the teachers who were misleading the people.
That is what convinced me to follow him. I am not very religious but I am a Jesus guy and try to live my life to please him and in doing so hope to help others that need help out of the hell holes they are in to lead a better life. It is not about religion, you are right about that, man has used it to his political advantage for ever. Man in general is evil. What do you expect.
Martin Luther nailed a list on the wall of the church back in his day that called the religious corruption what it was. It started a whole new look and changed the church ever since.
So it's about a relationship with God through his son Jesus that is the true religion and you are free to enter in or not, your choice. One thing that we all have to decide in this life is who was Jesus. Your choice but take time to study what He says for yourself before you decide because we are all going to find out one way or another......
Your last two statements about the left and the right are party line bullshit from beginning to end. I don't agree and that's cool because sometimes we have to agree to disagree.....
