shit shit shit. You can say shit here, no more cheeyut. You can even tell the admins to piss off.

Bogus, piss off!

Seriously though, you'll get more out of it if you can communicate clearly. There's plenty of helpful people that won't bother to decipher your writing as is.

Thirdgen is one of their earlier aquisitions, and limited in scope, so it doesn't surprise me that IB's presence isn't noticeable there.

CF on the other hand, was probably a huge purchase/investment and I'm sure they have it all planned out on how to squeeze as much money out of it as possible. The older gen forums on there are just along for the ride. C1-2-3-4 members aren't lining the vendor's pockets like the bolt-on queens in the newer sections.

Allowing testy, critical users on there that occupy the mods time and interfere with junk vendors, whether knowledgeable or not, doesn't fit into their business model. People don't go there for tech info, they go there to be coddled and sold on the "Corvette lifestyle". Most idiots spend their whole lives fortifying their ignorance, so the last thing they want is someone more knowledgable to disagree with them.

It's nice to feel missed and pretend you're a crucial piece of the puzzle, but in the end, CF will go on, and continue to get bigger, and worse, by the day, with or without you, or any of us.

Here's my tire comments... as you can tell by the mileage, I don't baby em.

Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 - 12,000 miles - $100 each
Noisy, decent grip, flatspot when sitting, overheat easily on auto-X, you get what you pay for, discontinued

Yokohama AVS ES100 - 9,500 miles - $120 each
Great in rain, quiet, predictable grip, suck at the dragstrip

Nitto NT-555 - 9,000 miles - $100 each
Mediocre in rain, comparable to Kumho Ecsta, too hard for a performance tire, you get what you pay for

Bridgestone Potenza RE050 pole position - 5,000 miles and counting - $170 each
Excellent grip, excellent rain performance, held up great on road course, price equal to Goodyear GSD3, absolutely worth the money, but only offered in sizes up to 255/40/17.

Don't waste your time digging into the door without upgrading the regulator.

My ribbon regulators, even when they worked were slow as piss.

http://webpages.charter.net/khasting/techinfo/windowreg.html

The install is almost bolt-in. You'll need to drill one hole in the bottom of each door, and reverse two wire on the passenger side motor. Really basic stuff.

If you're talking about IB having thirdgen, they've had that for awhile.

Ah yes, early 86 was manual A/C, late was electronic.

This 86 I was working on had electronic, but there was a hard vacuum line buried way down there that went to the check valve. Does the 4l60e use any vacuum signals?

When one fails, do they both fail? I'd be looking for something they both share, like the same power circuit.

Mine has a thermal fuse in there somewhere that if the system is pulling too much current, it will shut down the circuit for a while until it cools. This could be from bad motor windings, a partial short, bad thermal fuse, etc.

If you need a vacuum source, just hook it up to your ear. :thumbright:

I was working on an 86 today, the vacuum check valve feeds the cruise control lines and I guess the hvac too. It was down between the distributor and the wiper motor.

Why are you painting the suspension parts? They're bare aluminum. Just clean them with simple green and a brush! Paint, and the overspray will look terrible on there. Sort of a complete waste of time though when the car has other pressing problems. Hold off on cleaning the suspension until you have to change a bearing or brakes or something.

What does "CF" stand for? Corporate flop? Communist farce? Cockamamie fools? Counterproductive frittering? Compulsive faltering? Catastrophic failure? Completely fucked?

Why can't you post the paypal info in the thread?

Because I care not to share my email addresses with the world, just with those that have a need to know.

Lets try that PM again..

I know what you mean. I started getting a ton of spam right around when I signed up on this site again. (Bogus deleted me.) Not saying it was this site, but is possible. I don't quite know how that stuff works.

Highly overrated.

Read more here:

http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Performance/brakelines.htm

I have them on the front of my car because of the custom brake setup, and they appear to be leaking at the end fittings. I bought some replacements and will be replacing them before I hit the track next.

I also added put some clear heat shrink tubing on them to protect from dust and abrasions.

Dude just replace what you've got with a used stock engine. No need to overcomplicate it. It's a driver. Spend that extra money on something more productive, like Ninja training camp.

Your overdrive does not care what the dash temp guage says. It feeds off of the ECM sending unit on the front of the intake. Temp has to be over 176F to allow engagement.

But since you say it doesn't work, just run a jumper wire from the light blue wire on your overdrive relay (located in front of fuel pump relay) and jumper it to the black/white in the middle or to the pink wire.

This will force 12V to the overdrive when you hit the switch and ignore the computer completely.

Made in China..... :silent:

Indeed they are. "NSKF" is probably an attempt to knockoff the popular SKF name. The better question is, what isn't made in China?

NTN are also made in China and India now:
http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/b ... ries/2002121402000200.htm

SKF is in China:
http://www.ebearing.com/news2003/111201.htm

The GM bearing supplier from here NDH, is out of business. Their OEM market was bought by General Bearing. And yes, GB is manufacturing bearings in China too: (paragraph 5-7)
http://www.generalbearing.com/history/index.html

So with that depressing news, I'll send my money as soon as I find what paypal address.
