A guy on CF is interested in buying the 2.73 so I may just replace the whole unit and sell the old one to him. It's in great shape. From what I can tell it was rebuilt about 3 years ago and only has about 6,000 miles on it.

My LED turn signals wouldn't work until I installed a no-load flasher. With the no-loads my turn signal indicators go from dim to bright when the signals or 4 ways are on instead of off and on. The only way I could see the headlights effecting the signals is if they are causing some sort of a voltage drop. I would try the electronic no-load flashers first to see if that fixes your problem.

Are you still using the LED's? If so, have you put the resistors in the lines?

Rear Gear Swap

Last summer I put a Keisler 5 speed in my '70. I found out then that the PO put a 2.73 rear gear in the car and 10% compensator on the speedo cable to make up the difference. Now am looking to swap out the rear gear for a 3.36 but have no idea what I need. I have read that the 2 series gears were in a different carrier that the 3 series gears, so I may be looking at swapping out the entire pumkin. Has anyone had any experience with this swap?

TIA

That's what I was trying to get at. I was wondering how the bulbs changed brightness. Are all the LED's lighted at high intensity and only some at low intensity. If so that may the reason for the bleed back since the LED's don't have different filaments to light.

Hi Matt,

When the bulbs are at low intensity do all the LED's light or only some to them?

DB I sure wish you'd finish this project so we can all see how these experiments work out!

DB has always been a great help to a lot of people. I have never personally know him to anything but a very knowledgeable guy who will go out of his way to help anyone. Let's leave the "other side" on the other side.

I tried painting the inside of the small gauges with chrome paint thinking it would reflect better. Big mistake. Makes for very uneven lighting. Something I'll be redoing.

Hey DB! Glad I found where you're hanging out! One question - where did you get the bulbs for the speedo and tach? I've got a '70 so it doesn't use the blade type bulbs. If you remember from the other place, I have blue leds in mine now but I'm not too happy with the color or brightness. Yours look great.
