I've always been a P47 Thunderbolt guy.... The flying Jug was big heavy and tough to shoot down.....used widely in bombing and troop ground support roles. P51's had the range to stay with the bombers on their sorties to German targets.....

Both planes were supercharged for high altitude but the P51 proved superior in air to air combat and range.

I have a picture of my Dad climbing into the cockpit of a P47. He eventually ended up flying B-17's out of Italy...

Teeb's Dad also was in B-17's in Italy if I recall......

..amen to the heated seats and steering wheels..... I was out west the last couple of days and it was like 1 degree this am at the motel... out west they provide plugins for the diesel trucks but you have to bring your own cord.... which I do have.... also treated fuel.... fired the Duramax up and turned on the steering wheel heat and the set the seat heat to simmer and went in to check out and when I got in the truck it was warm as toast......

now I am home and glad to be here..... I think Andy is a long way from the fires out in LA..... they are all north of him if I remember right..... a lot of houses gonna burn looks like..... going to be real hard to get homeowners insurance out there after this.....

warmer here.... 12 right now with snow flurries... we missed the deep stuff so my snow blow no go...... getting cold next couple of days.... Happy New Year everyone..... another year goes in the dustbin of history..... we are but smoke in the wind..... I was in bed reading last night when I heard the fireworks go off around the neighborhood..... I was thankful to be here to see what the new year brings.....

Our government in the hopes of being re elected passed many pork bills so everyone got money or things so they would re elect the leaders who then go through the whole cycle again..... and by the way they were printing money to hand out and finally folks are starting to say..... hey that's not sustainable.... what the hell....!

a huge chunk of our taxes goes to paying off the interest on the debt..... thanks fearless leaders.... you sold our asses down the river so you could stay on your job and make millions in the meantime....... wow.... great rant.... I feel better now....

I don't think this is going to end well for any of us..... so better make the most of it ya..... we all could use faster horses, older whiskey....and more money...I think the song says something about younger women but not going to go there....

rained all day yesterday and then the cold temps moved in and some snow.... the weather wizards are saying it gonna be cold for the next 2 weeks so get some firewood stacked up..... keep the homefires lit Guru's

The house is quite once again.... almost to quiet..... the thundering hoard of 3 year old's and dogs and mom's and dad's is over until this summer when hopefully we can all meet up again at the old yellow house...

just got back from taking the last of the family to the airport as they return to the PNW.... The somewhat controlled chaos is over now until the next time.... I can pull the good stuff back out and put it on the back bar again.....

Sun finally made an appearance and warm temps as well.... we are having Christmas for the whole family today... 3 little ones and the dogs and lots of activity.... spiral cut ham, scalloped potatoes, creamed corn and roasted carrots....

Huskers are on but nobody seems to care..... or everyone is to busy to care.....

I have become an enabler to others.... the longer it goes on the harder it is to stop because they become dependent on you. Family you can go a lot longer but is harder to stop when the time comes and no change is coming forth from them.

Your heart is right and your generosity is commendable... but at some point they have to change what they are doing, by seeking help both mentally and physically or they will wear you out mentally and physically. These are tough situations with a lot of no really good answers if they do not take on where they are at and how they got there.

I'm hiding out in the shop.... but I hear the dinner bell ringing so must go back in and join the fray.....

It was 10 degrees out this morning when I went to start the Duramax.... It did not like it.... I'm running 50% #2 and 50% #1 diesel fuel so it won't gel up..... sun is shining though.... I suppose I should start thinking about getting some gifts now that Amazon delivery folks went on strike.... fire their asses is what I say....

..so sorry to hear about your loss of the family pooch Tommy... we have gone through 3 of those in the last year.... counting the kids dog.... I miss ours a lot..... now the #1 daughter is bringing 2 pups along for their Christmas visit.... planning on leaving one here with my son or us.... I'm ok with it....

..did the H and A folks give you a time they would be there? usually its like... you can expect us from between 8 am to 4 pm... be sure and be there..... and then they call at 3:45 and say they go hung up on a job and will be there in the morning.... yeah...thanks....

sun is out and there seems to be a warming trend.... not in the shop though....Doc left the big garage door open so the furnace was running full bore...... geez.... I would say something but its Christmas and don't want to ruin it for myself....

...yeah the Kansas Nebraska on northwest to Montana and Canada would catch a lot of stations on a clear night...sometimes cloudy nights would be better for catching skip... KOMA was the best but KAAY Little Rock or WLS Chicago or others would be playing the top 40 hits back in the mid 60's and 70's.... I have been cruising in Miles City Montana with KOMA coming in loud and strong.... KFAB in Omaha was a good one but not always the songs we liked.

Teeb.... hope you find the right way to deal with your back... do what it takes.... I can only sleep on a foam type mattress and that is a problem when I'm on the road staying in motels......

Had a large Ag show in Lincoln the last 3 days..... many many farmers..... I do a lot of talking and standing on concrete floors..... it was warm in there at least.... 2nd largest indoor ag show in the country......

I finally went with the surgery due to the sciatica that had me fairly well laid up... they went in and cleaned up a lot of things beating the nerves up and I really have been good since then..... except for the discs that have been worn thin.... that is a whole nuther operation that I don't want to do..... so far so good....

modern appliances.... used to be they would last decades and now it you get 10 years out of them you think you got a good deal..... our Amana freezer bought in 85 is still chugging along.... that is almost 40 years of service....never have had to make a service call on it either.... crazy.....
