Hey guys, Made the trip north and back with the GGD. She was so excited to see me. That excitement makes me so assured that living is worth every breath. I wish I'd had my camera going when the car door was opened. My heart is full.

Hey guys, Yea, lesson learned. We made it home. Made one stop for gas and just kept on trucking.

Much nicer day here than what was to be in KC. Once home and unloaded, I got the car washed and we went for a 10 mile bike ride.

Tomorrow we head north to pick up GGD. Tuesday night into Wednesday they are predicting another winter storm...oh great. I got a sh!tload of things supposed to happen on Wednesday.

Hey guys, much cooler today here in KC. I decided to swap the snow blade for the mower deck. Went out and removed the tire chains from the tractor then the blade (about an hour to do those tasks). Pulled the deck over and noticed the belt was pretty bad and decided to replace it before putting it back on. So we ran to Lowes to get the belt. The kid there asked if we needed the deck belt or the drive belt. Well the mower belt, Oh, that's the deck belt here's the one you need, 5/8" x 139". While we were out we stopped and grabbed some tacos for lunch. Then back to thread the belt on and install the deck. I decided I'd better check to see if worked ok. So I started mowing the leaves and at one point ran over a couple of bigger limbs that had come out of the trees from the winds and one got caught up under the mower and kicked the belt off, so had to stop and rethread the deck belt. A much more difficult job when the deck is attached. Got going and not wanting to do that again, the next round I stopped to pick up several larger branches and when I got back on and started it up and engaged the deck, the tractor wouldn't move and it started smoking...burning rubber smoke. Somehow the drive belt got screwed up and caught up in the front clutch-pulley. No clue on how to get to it to, to remove and replace. I guess we should have bought both belts. I'll have to bring more tools next trip to fix that.

Went to church then out to an Asian buffet to eat...now I'm too tired and stuffed to do anything else. Tomorrow we'll head home.

Hey guys, not much to report from the appointment. I am going to have another shot and will have a meeting with the surgeon in about a month. So we're still up in the air.

Windy here today, still is at 7:30pm. Cooler tomorrow and still windy.

Hey guys, made the trip to KC today. Really nice day. Very little wind and temps in the 70s. Tomorrow is my appt with the neurologist. We'll see what they have to say about everything.

Morning guys.... Yesterday was absolutely perfect. 80 and light breezes. Went for a walk and a bike ride, got a fireplace mantel built...well nearly. Today, try to finish it up. Not quite as warm today, looking at upper 60s, maybe 70.

Gris, it's always something. Yea it was nice to hear from Capt Mike.

I changed oil in James the other day. He's ready to get otu and stretch his legs.

Stayed cloudy and damp today. It did make it to 52 so they were right on the temp. Went for a walk to the post office and my hip behaved...mostly, only giving me a little pain. Go back to see the neurologist on Friday. Will head to KC on Thursday.

Morning guys... Been AWOL. Survived the big Blow Tuesday. Had 8 trucks and vehicles blown over, or off the road in an 8 mile stretch east Had wind gusts to 90mph. And had many accidents due to blowing dirt/dust.

Wednesday was a beautiful day low 60s and almost no wind. Went for a walk and a bike ride. Had SIL/hubby stop to see us in the afternoon as their GS was on the B-ball team playing our hometown in a Sub-State playoff game. They had to come from 3 hours away...nearly halfway across the state. We beat them by 34 points. Running clock in the 4th quarter. Long way to come to get your ass kicked that bad. We had Ash Wednesday services at 6:30 then I had a KofC meeting after, didn't get home until 10pm.

Yesterday had eye appointments, cataracts getting worse but still not quite to the point where Medicare will pay to have them removed. Looked at a kitchen for remodel while over in the 'city'. Big DIYers, so did a little design for them and offered to supply materials and they can put the cabinets together themselves and install them themselves...we'll see how it turns out.

Today, I'm helping a friend install some Onyx shower bases. I've done probably 10 of these. Super quality, but heavy as all get out. But because I've done quite a few he asked me to help.

Plumbing Tommy? I don't know if I ever told you guys, but, I HATE F*#KING PLUMBING.

Hey guys, The wind started howling sometime around 3am. By the time we got up it was really cooking. We had at least 7 semis blown off the road, or blown over in our county. Emergency crews busy all day. Finally, county officials got US50/400 closed. That's what 85mph winds will do. Winds have eased a little, but not completely until noon tomorrow.

Hey guys, the predicted rain (60% they said) never developed here. Darn, we could have used it. I worked in the shop for a while and went for a 6 mile bike ride.

Hey guys, Was a pretty day here.

Tommy, those were some deep thoughts and a great song from back in our day...made me think about it in a different perspective.

I didn't build any new cabinets today. Spent some time in the shop putting things away and prepping for the next steps. Hauled some excess lumber down to the shed and hauled some back from there. Worked on the price of the vanities the guy yesterday wants.

Next week is busy, Monday we take GGD back to her mother, Tuesday I have PT and a lunch date at the Senior Center, Wednesday KofC meeting after Ash Wednesday Mass, Thursday eye appointment... we see a new Doctor as our old one retired last spring. Friday... Well I'm sure something will come up.

Hang in there Letty, make sure they know who actually is the boss. Marc, I'm anxious to see that vid.

Hey guys, been pretty nice here the last couple of days. Hung a bathroom cabinet yesterday and worked another vanity all day today. Picked up a couple more jobs yesterday and today. I thought things would slow down some this year, but, it doesn't appear to be the case.

Morning guys...Cool start, 37 now and headed to the upper 50s.

I feel the same way about the illegal aliens. I feel really bad for the ones who are here and contributing to society. But like Letty said, it's not right that they are not paying taxes. Many around here are doing those same jobs, roofing, packing plant, construction, and they are needed as such. But they ARE here illegally and We they people of America should not have to support them. Our economy just can't take it any more, actually I believe we are beyond that point already. Our President is only doing the legal thing and I support it. Yes it would be nice if there was a fast track and more economical way to streamline the process of legalization for those who want to become citizens, but until then, the law is the law.

The work in the shop awaits.

Hey guys, it was a beautiful day yesterday and nice and warm today, just a tad bit breezier. Got the big cabinets installed yesterday, now looking toward the next project or two.

Went to see the holistic Dr. today. Got our meds for the next month. Headed out to the shop to spray some finish.

Up and around. Trailer hooked up and ready to head west in a bit. #3 is making SoS for breakfast. Then we'll head home. Still need to figure out the lawn tractor, ran the 'Recondition' cycle on it overnight... it is now showing 90% now, so left the charger on it until after breakfast and see if I can get it to start. If not she'll have to get a new battery. The one in there is only a couple years old, so hoping we can get another season out of it.

Temps above freezing already, so proves to be a nice day.

Well, they are calling for breakfast.

Well, went out and bought a charger, but the battery wouldn't crank it. So set it for "Recondition". Probably end up at Wally World buying a new battery.

We've had to have our Jura refurbished once. Came back like new. Well worth the repair cost. I'll check to see where we had to send it when I get home. But the place Tommy referenced looks like a good alternative.

Morning guys.... I was up early yesterday. Thursday night we decided that we couldn't, reasonably, haul the queen sized bed, bed frame, mattress and boxsprings in the pickup. So, I wanted to leave for KC by 8am, which meant I needed to go to the storage shed, and retrieve the enclosed trailer and transfer the bed frame from the pickup and get the mattress and box spring loaded. Took an hour to retrieve the trailer, as I had to move the golf cart trailer, then put it back after pulling the enclosed out and button the awning back up, and it's -2* to boot.

We did get all that accomplished and was on the road right at 8am. I didn't pull the trailer as fast as I usually drive without it, so the trip took a bit longer than normal and used more gas than normal...we stopped twice for gas. Got here about 3pm and first order of business was unload the bed and get it set up in the room. We are thrilled because from now on when we stay here, we get to sleep on a real bed instead of the air mattress we have to set up each time and usually have to add air to it in the middle of the night. I will say, we sleep really good last night.

The evening was spent, watching the GS in his school play. Very proud of him.

Today I will be tasked with getting #3s lawn tractor going, dead battery. This is the one I installed the snow blade on last time we were here. When it snowed the other day, she couldn't get the tractor started, so the plow didn't do her any good. Got to get that running.

Have a great day.

Morning guys... cold here. -4.5 on the back deck when the truck showed up with my lumber at 7:45. My fingers were frozen pretty fast, even with my gloves on. Good thing I didn't have a lot to unload.

Letty, so far I'm liking the 16. Not a lot different from the 14, but has the USB-C charging port and charges faster. It's a little bit bigger, taller, than my 14 Pro and the same width, so it still fits in my side pocket of the carpenter pants I wear (A requirement). Which is the reason I don't get the "Max" or "Plus" model...whatever they call it now. The nice thing is all my data and settings transferred over.

I've warmed up now, so, out to the shop to get some doors built.

Hey guys, colder than a witches tit in a brass bra today. -9 when we got up , it has soared to the lofty temp of 6*. Sun is shining, but like Marc, it isn't doing much in the warm-up dept.

Showed the latest cabinets to the client last night and they are thrilled, Will install them, without the doors next week. I will install doors later when I get them done.

Checked out another job I'm ordering materials for and ordered those. Then went over to the 'city' because my phone has been acting up, microphone works or doesn't...can't have that. $100 to fix it, but Rosie says, "Just get a new one." So I stopped at Verizon and got a new iPhone 16 pro. But dropped off the old phone at the phone Doctor to get it fixed and save as a backup.

Now I'm home and watching the GGD while Rosie and GD went to the library to grab some reading material. Headed to KC Friday morning to take her back and watch GS from #1 in his high school play Friday night.

OK, I think that's all, stay warm Gurus.

Morning guys... -3 now (9:30am) and snowing. Watching 'Vice Grip Garage' on Youtube, entertaining and informative.

Thinking about going out to the shop, fire up the heater and doing a little work....maybe not.

Morning guys... Cold here, but colder on the way. Wednesday morning lows are predicted to be around -10 to -15 and highs of 2 to 8....good day to stay inside.

I'll head to the shop pretty soon, not sure what I'll do, but there's always something.

Head north in the morning to pick up GGD, we've been mossing her and look forward to getting her for the next couple weeks.

I've got the 6.2 in my 22 GMC. 52K on it now and hoping for long life. I am looking for an older PU to use for working out of and running around town...something like Gris' 08.

Morning guys... No friggen sh!t, Letty. I've got al my stuff to finish up and I've had several other 'small jobs' people have come to me asking to do, "In your free time". Yea right...

Been working this morning on a plaque a lady wants to give to her Physical Therapist. My granddaughter who is here for another week (Freshman in HS) asked for a couple little projects and Rosie told I could do them for her while she is here.... so I'll work on those too.

Headed to the shop to work some before church.

Hey guys, beautiful day temperature wise today. 65 this afternoon, but the wind was howling, so not so much enjoyable. A real drop in temps tomorrow, highs in the low 30s and lows on Tuesday morning in the negative numbers...crazy weather.

I put a rack of ribs on about 1pm for supper tonight.

Worked in the shop assembling cabinets today. Rosie, #2 and GD went over to the 'city' to pick up some stuff, so I headed up to the flower shop to pick up a bouquet to surprise her when she got home.

Morning guys... Happy birthday Tommy.

A bit nippy this morning, back porch thermo says -8 but the front says -6. They are saying it will warm up to the low 30s today.

Not in a huge hurry to go outside. But I need to go down to the storage and pick up my next project pieces.

Most of the floor project is done, still have a couple of trim pieces to do.

Stay warm today, you gurus not in south Florida.

Hey guys, woke up to about 3-04" of snow on the ground and 8* on the thermometer. Didn't warm up too much either, 13 was the high. Luckily the wind didn't blow too hard.

Got my ears lowered this morning, then worked in the shop, mostly on things here in the house. Rosie and GD moved stuff into the front room, everything but the couch...too heavy for us to do it by ourselves, Will wait for GS to come over Friday to do that.

Hey guys, busy day here. Woke up at a little after nine, Rosie didn't get home until almost 1 so didn't get to bed until almost 1:30am.

Jumped out of bed and headed to the shop to cut the hole in the countertop for the sink. Got that done and contacted the maintenance guy to let him know I would be headed that way to install the top. Got there and he carried the top in while I carried the tools an the door pulls. He wanted to set the top in place and, while I'm a surgeon at these things, this guy is a butcher. The top was a little snug so he whacked it with the palm of his had and the front edge of the top cracked... sh!t. Long story short I was able to fix it without having to replace it. So that job is done.

The rest of the day has been working on trying to get things back in place in the room. I reinstalled the baseboard and a couple other trim pieces that needed replacing. Of course, Rosie thought of a couple other things that needed fixing/redone, I don't disagree with her assessment, but just don't need more things on my plate, so I'm working on those.

Cold, cold here, high of 20 today and very moist feeling. Tomorrow they say a high of 13, you know one of those days to go out and sunbath.

Later gurus.

Hey guys, It was pretty darn cold this morning and didn't really warm up.

I engaged a neighbor to help me load the cabinets, then he just stayed with me to help install them. This is the guy whom I watch their dogs when they are out of town, so I guess he felt like he owes me. Done with the cabinets by 1ish, unloaded the tools and Rosie and I headed to the 'city' to pick up the rugs she wanted for the front room, now that she has hardwood floors. Also took back three full boxes of flooring I didn't need. Even with the restock fee (special order item), It was well over $200. Ran a few errands and then came home.

Been working in the shop since then, making the countertop for those cabinets. I made a template after I installed them to make sure it will fit.

Rosie came out to the shop about 5, I knew something was wrong. She said she had to meet #3 (lives in KC) because her youngest (freshman in HS) was suspended from school for vaping.... She's had depression issues for some time. Anyway Rosie is meeting her halfway tonight and bringing her home as neither #3 or her father has the time off to stay with her. We thought she had gotten over her problems, but not so.

Rosie and #2 (she lives here) took off a couple hours ago. They will pick up GD and head home tonight...should be back here around 1am. I'll wait up for them.

Morning guys...must have worked too hard yesterday, slept in late. Woke up once @ 5 went to the bathroom then woke up again @ 8:15. Not normal for me.

Cold here this morning, 19 now and only headed to the mid 30s.I need to finish the doors up and get them hung. Then I'll be ready for tomorrow. I've got a few hours to do that before heading to the casino.

I guess there is a lot of controversy about the big game and the officiating...what a crock of sh!t, and I have no concern which way the game goes. Couldn't care less.

I'd better get to it, have a great day.

Hey guys, worked in the shop on the doors until leo got here. Then we kicked ass on the floor. until MY ass was dragging. But it was time to get ready for church anyway. We are down to about 1/4 of the floor to do.

today id Rosie's birthday, so we are taking it easy this evening. Tomorrow, I'll try to finish the doors, and probably, put some more flooring down. Then about 3 pm we will head out to Dodge City to the casino and a nice prime rib supper.

Hey guys, chilly day for the most part...it did finally warm up late this afternoon. Worked in the shop all morning, trying to makeup for the major screw-up by me that I found yesterday, then thought I'd lay a little flooring while I waited for glue to dry. Took another hour and a half in the afternoon to un-clamp then sand, rout and stain the doors. Then back to laying floor, I'm about 1/3 done. Tomorrow Leo is supposed to come over to give me a hand....he doesn't have a track meet this weekend so his help will be appreciated. Hoping , maybe, to finish laying the floor.

Monday, I've committed to installing the cabinets I have in the shop, so must finish those doors tomorrow and get them installed Sunday before we make our annual trip to the casino in Dodge City.

Tomorrow is also Rosie's birthday. She's going over to the 'city' with #2 in the morning.

I will say, I'm dead tired tonight, my back hurts, my knees hurt and my legs hurt from the up and down and up and down putting the flooring down.

Pharmacy, we use our local privately owned store. The Pharmacist is a great guy and we wouldn't go anyplace else.

Last night

Hey guys, clear and chilly start but proves to warm up some this afternoon and through Saturday, then old man winter comes rushing back in.

Was making good progress on the current cabinet job this morning, then while installing the doors I find that I "Inched" two pair (an inch too small). So I've been scrambling to remake those four doors. While glue is drying, I'm in the house working on prepping for the floor install.

I watched a couple different new conferences where the reporters (if you really want to call them that) were trying to trip him up...unsuccessfully, and he put them in their place.... I wonder why he lets some of those idiots in the office.

Yes, it does Marc. And I still have the oak floor to put down. It's sitting in the front room "acclimating" for another day or two. 16 bundles with 24 square feet/bundle...weighed 1300#. Rosie did finish painting the walls this afternoon.

Hey guys, been MIA for a bit. Slammed recently. Not much doing, then all of the sudden, several things pop up.

Cold snap put a real schnitzle on things the last couple of days. Last Friday we cleared the front room out to prep for new hardwood strip flooring. Rosie decided she was going to paint the walls while the room was clear... makes perfect sense. Then she decides, we ought to scrape the heavy (popcorn) texture off the ceiling... OK, if we're going to do it, now seems like the right time. I arrange to have it skim coated and buy the materials for that. So Saturday afternoon, I start on that and do a 3' square area and really like the look of the texture that's left and call Rosie to look at it...she likes it too, so we don't have to skim coat it now. I finish scraping the heavy stuff off and attempt to roll the paint on. Doesn't work real well and it frustrates me. I decide I'm going to buy an airless and spray it on. So Sunday we run over to the 'city' to buy one, but end up with a power roller stick thingy, because the airless to do ceilings costs about $300 minimum, and I'll only use it once, the roller stick thing was only $40 (and it worked great BTW). But still tell the guy to come on Tuesday as my shoulders were killing me from doing the primer and had him put the finish coat on. Last night, I pulled the old transition pieces off and tried laying out the start of the new hardwood and figuring out what to do with the transitions. Got that figured out this morning and will work on those between times waiting for finish to dry on one of the "paying jobs". Burning the candle on both ends right now.

I hope it warms up a little soon, it makes spraying finish a much easier job. Have a great day guys.

Hey guys, yea all that work is making me tired too... and I haven't hardly started on it yet. I am working on the door panels for the one cabinet job today. Yesterday I did pick up some stain for that project, made a sample board and took it up to compare...I couldn't have matched it any closer. so now it's just a matter of getting the parts here, assembling the cabinets and finish making the doors.

I better get to it.

Hey guys, another busy day. Visit the holistic Dr for our pills, then off to the 'city' to pick up some supplies for our front room renovation. Yea, we ordered new oak strip flooring, which has now expanded to painting the walls, removing the texture on the ceiling and skim coating it. We bought wall, ceiling paint and sheetrock mud for skimming the ceiling today. The oak flooring is supposed to be here next Tuesday.

Flooring is supposed to be laid out to acclimate before we install it. We will empty the room out Friday, as #1 GS will be available to help, then we will remove the carpet and padding. Then we will start scraping the texture off the ceiling. Once that is done I've got my friend coming over to skim coat it.

All this going on and I've got materials coming this week for two separate cabinets jobs. I'll be burning my candle on both ends for a while.

Morning guys... pretty chilly here this morning, 9 on the deck, but hoping for upper 40s later. #1 GS has weekend off so coming to get GGD for the weekend.

I'm headed to the shop to work on some cabinet doors and a beauty panel for fireplace. That's the lumber i had to go get yesterday.

Have a great day!

Hey guys, back to chilly here, 32 for a high.I spent most of the day out... in the shop and in the car and pickup.

Lumber truck yesterday left off my lumber and as soon as I got around to the shop with it, I noticed I didn't get everything I ordered. Sent an email to my salesman and he responded back that he did submit the order for that item, which I knew he had , because I had the ticket saying so, but no lumber . Any way the driver calls me about 1 today asking if I was missing anything?....yup. Those particular boards he found loaded completely on the other end of the truck with a different order. He said he was headed back toward KC from south of me and was going to be going within about 50 miles of me. So I told him I'd meet him in a town along the way so I'd have the lumber instead of waiting two weeks to get it. So a 100 mile jaunt to pick up the lumber. Salesman said he'd "Make an adjustment" to my bill for me having to drive to get my stuff.

Hey guys, a little warmer here too. 12 when I got up, 38 now (12:30pm), but the wind is blowing 25-30mph.

Had my monthly massage this morning. The first one since October (Hmmm how does that work? Last two landed on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the next one on Christmas day). Felt great.

Got a truck with wood materials coming later.

I guess it must be clod in FLA. I saw where some beach there was suppose to get snow.

Morning guys... Very chilly this morning, -2. Luckily, the wind hasn't developed as much as they predicted, yet.

I walked to the hospital for my PT appt. That's how I knew the wind wasn't blowing. The PT told me I was making good progress and with my doing yoga each evening I don't need to come back each week, so my next one is in two weeks.

Hey guys, up early and off to the north to pick up GGD. She was so excited to see me. And we've had fun all the rest of the day.

13, Letty? That's a heat wave, 0 when we left this morning, 7 when we got back 6 now 8:30pm. -2 is the predicted low with 20-25mph breezes in the morning. Extreme cold warning tonight and into tomorrow.

Morning guys... cold here too, 2* when we got up. All the way up to 8 now. Headed to the mid 20s they say. At least the wind isn't howling.

Knights of Columbus hosting FreeThrow contest today, so I'll head up to the school in a while to prepare for that.

Gee, Letty, that sounds like a deal (NOT). I've gotten to the point where I don't mind paying for a meal, but it has to be worth it.

Hey guys, cold and windy today and a dusting of the white stuff. So I stayed inside until Church time and instead of walking, we drove. Tomorrow is more of the same and then colder yet on Monday and we head north to pick up GGD.
