It's a fairly mild start to the morning, 31 now headed to low 50s. Ended up in the low 60s yesterday.

I've packed for our trip to KC tomorrow. I have a ticket to the Kansas City Royals "FanFest" tomorrow afternoon. Then just a visit with the kids & grands.

I hope all of you stay warm, as I know the cold and snowy weather is affecting many of you.

Morning guys...It was cool to start, upper 20s and damp. We are headed to upper 50s today and it has a good start, low 40s at 11am.

I've been out in the shop working on a few things and this afternoon, Rosie is taking some personal time (which she will lose in April when she retires if she doesn't use it) and we are headed back out to the house where I was trimming and will finish up the trim and barn door.

Matt, I bought one off of Amazon...$19 delivered. Funny thing, I didn't need it at all as the rear rotors were like new and the pads were barely worn (61k on the clock)

Well, it made it up to 40, but that's it and the next front came through and now it's damp...not raining, just damp....let it rain for heavens sake, I don't even care if it is cold....

Up and working on a computer today. Cold and cloudy out, so it's a good morning to do that. Supposed to warm up a little today into the upper 40s.

I have some stuff to do in the shop, probably head that way soon, as I need info from the client for the computer, to finish setting it up and they aren't returning my texts or phone call. So I'll wait until they do...in the mean time, I'll go to the shop.

Second night of hosting the league b-ball tourney tonight, boys tonight.

Hey guys, busy day. Brake job and oil change on GS#1s GFs car. Front brakes were horrendous, ridged and rippled rotors....back rotors looked like nearly new and the pads were barely worn at all...so I didn't change them.

Tonight I worked first round high school b-ball tourney games (girls tonight) and will work first round boys games tomorrow evening.

Hey guys...got up and headed out to the house trim job (it was their choice on time). I thought we were in for hanging the barn door, well, that idea got changed when we got out there and they wanted to change a few things that affected doing that. So we regrouped and did some other work, both in the house and back at the shop. Spent most of the day working on several different things. The owners had to go over to the 'city' and pick up some more lumber, they dropped it off about 7:30 this evening and Rosie is going to stain it tomorrow and I'll spray it later. I also changed oil in the Caddy this afternoon, as we will be taking it to KC early Friday morning.

GS #1 called and said he had tomorrow off and could I do the brakes on his GFs car. We told them, as a Christmas present, that I would do that for them. I got the parts in last week and just waiting for a time to do it. So, I'll do that tomorrow. The front brakes are really bad, rotors have deep grooves, back brakes not as bad, but still need changing, I'm sure. Problem is, I was watching a video on doing the back brakes, and it appears that I need a Caliper Wind-back tool kit to get the piston compressed back into the caliper. Sent a text to the auto-shop teacher to see if the school had one...nope. So in the morning, before GS gets here, I'll go out to the repair shop that does my work when I don't want to mess with things (former student) and see if they have one and last resort I'll check with the auto parts store to see if they have one to borrow/rent or buy. Amazon has one for less than $20, and I could have it delivered Tuesday. I would really like to just get it done tomorrow.

Time for bed guys......

Hey guys...slept in again, then went out to the shop to finish the one project. That took about 30 minutes. Then we changed clothes and headed over to the 'city' to attend a Kansas Honor Flight fundraiser. then run back home to attend the presentation of the medals (the medal case I built a couple weeks back) for the Korean Vet (and father of a good friend). He was really surprised. Had an Adjutant General here from Topeka, a Colonel and another NCO to do the presentation ..... quite moving, he didn't suspect a thing until about 2 minutes before it happened. There were 28 other Vets there and probably 100 other people to see this very honorable presentation.

Hey guys...Slept in a bit this morning, then headed right out to the shop. It was icy and, like Marcus, the school delay turned into a complete canceling of school. I was out in the shop for about 3 hours and when I headed to the house at about 1, the ice had melted and it was shirtsleeve weather. Went from cloudy and cold, 24, to clear and unseasonably warm, 57, at 3 o'clock.

I got quite a bit done in the shop. Now it's time to relax.

I NEVER set things down and lose them..... This afternoon, it was a freaking tape measure......looked for 15 minutes, finally gave up and grabbed another one. About an hour later I lost that one..... then all of the sudden, I had both in my hands.

Yea, we'd turn them into bacon, chops and sausage out here too.

The ice started coming down about 5:30 this evening, pretty slick out there now. Local schools have a late start tomorrow.

Morning guys....Cold here, just waiting for the winter weather they are predicting for today. Mid 30s for a high, some icy crap possible.

I'm headed out to the shop pretty soon. I have a couple little things to work on.

Well, the massage was good....not what Tommy was thinking, but good. Not much else got done. I straightened out the storage room in the basement and cleaned out a cabinet in the shop. Watching Barrett Jackson this evening.

Morning guys....Cool this morning and headed to the upper 40s to low 50s.

Bob, you are correct, class 0f 73. Tommy, I don't have to do anything yet as I am covered under Rosies' insurance until she retires. Our Medicare guy is supposed to come by this month and we will get things squared away. But he has a plan that we qualify for that make the premiums set for life. Apparently not all qualify for the policy.

I have a massage scheduled for noon today... a reward for my work this past weekend.

I hope all of you have a great day.

Morning guys....Thanks for the birthday wishes. I'm glad that my bustin' my butt is inspiring people. I know my niece and her hubby, were pretty impressed with what I got done in two days....I did have their help (along with Rosie).

It's a cool start to the day. but supposed to warm up to the upper 50s, maybe low 60s. I'm unloading the pickup and putting tools away, then I have some extra materials back to Menards.

So far, being 65 hasn't felt any different, just another day. Speaking of days, I hope all of you have a great one.

Hey guys...got up yesterday and headed northwest to my sisters house to start work on the basement remodel. An hours drive up there and unloaded the tools/materials. Worked on framing the new walls and furring out the other walls and ran some new electrical....worked until about 10:30. How's that for celebrating my birthday?

Got up this morning and continued all the details, finishing the furring and setting outlet boxes. Finished running the electrical wire and installing the receptacles and switches, then installed the rigid insulation...finishing up after dark. Loaded up my tools and headed home. Got home about 9 pm.

At least we had nice weather to do the work. Chilly start each morning, but warmed into the 40 and low 50s by the afternoon.

I'm tired and headed to bed. I'll unload the tools tomorrow.

Morning guys...Slept in a bit this morning. Now getting ready to head over to the 'city' for weekly groceries and pick up materials for my sisters basement project. Like Marc, it's a brisk 6 out there, but our breeze is barely anything, 9mph, so we are are having a heat wave compared. The 2-4" of white stuff they predicted turned out about right, one flake hit the ground about every 2-4" apart. Not sorry that we didn't get snow, but darn, we really needed the moisture.

Tommy, how does that happen? Here in Kansas, they are such sticklers about that.

Yesterday my #1GS turned 23, tomorrow it's my turn. #2 is having all of us over today after church to celebrate, with supper and cake.

We will be headed to my sisters' in the morning to get started on her project. I'll make an attempt to get the framing done, some of the wiring and insulation done, before we have to come home Monday. Plumber is supposed to have done part of his stuff yesterday...let's hope he did, as I will, obviously, not be good help for him.

Well, I better get going, before it gets too warm.

Hey guys...Sorry About the job Andy, but, it may be a blessing in disguise. I hope your search is neither hard nor long.

Actually warmer this morning than it has been (28), but it's not supposed to warm up much, 31 now...32 predicted high. Calling for snow to start here anytime now and saying 2-4".

I'm in the shop working on a few things.

Ran up to school to pick up a piece of lumber for a client, and the guy that replaced me (friend and KoC member), asked me about the other shop teacher (whom I worked with for 34 years). His house burned the Friday before Christmas and he got notice that it has been considered a total loss. He's moved to a rental awaiting whatever the insurance is going to do. He doesn't have much in the way of extra cash and not sure how he is going to proceed. Anyhow, my replacement came up with an idea where maybe we can donate our time to do the framing/enclosing/whatever we can do to build him a new house. Looks like I've got my pro-bono project for this year. The plan includes using a high school construction class for some of the labor with He, I and some other local professionals as leaders/teachers.

OK, got to get back out to the shop.

Hey guys...been a busy day. Got a call about a computer problem before 8 this morning, so I started early. Came home and the friend, whose dad is the Korean war vet, and I built the medal display for, called me and asked me if I was ready for the medals. "Yup, bring them by." So I finished up that. A Brigadier General will be here in Kansas, and, hopefully our US Representative, is going to be here a week from Saturday to present them to him...his dad has no idea what s actually going on. After the day, I will get a picture of him receiving it and get it in the display as well. When he came by to pick it up, one of the last things he said to me was "Send me a bill." I told him, "Your dad had already paid for it, with his service to our country" Brought tears to his, and my eyes.

Our KofC group voted to pay off the last of the mold remediation bill for our Ladies Alter society (who told the family they were going to take care of the that portion of their problem). I think I said that last week, the kitchen project got completed.

So back home, I worked on a couple of other projects in the shop. A chess board I was commissioned, last week to build, a chair-side table for Father at church and working on corner blocks to finish up the trim job I started this week. Rosie called me while I was working and said that a lady from our church had called her and left a message for me to call her, not sure what to expect, I called her back, and she tells me, that she had just heard about all the work I had done redoing the kitchen and that she was wanting to thank me for my sacrifices and time I did. That there still are good people, doing what god wants us to do.

My plan for the rest of my life is, to do more pro-bono work for people in need. I know that they appreciate it.

Morning guys...Not up as early as Marcus, but early enough. Going to pick up #2 GS again in a bit to go out and try to install all but the door trim....three windows and two sidelights.

It's back to 'meal site' day at the Sr. Center. So lunch is figured out.

Have a great day, guys.

I got all but three windows trimmed and the front door. We'll go out tomorrow morning and try to finish the windows... the door, I have to do some work in the shop to be able to finish it. They want their brand engraved on part of the trim around the door.

The financial planner got here and we got the retirement papers filled out for Rosie to fax in as soon as we get a couple of them notarize. April 1 is pretty much set in stone.

A computer client called me yesterday and was having issues with his computer. I told him there was no way I could come out and look at it for a few days, but if he would bring it in I'd see about it tonight. so, I've been working on that. I got it up and running, but I believe it is on borrowed time. They use Carbonite Backup and it was backed up tonight once I got it running. I gave them options, they are going to make every attempt to get the year end stuff done and then decide what to do about the fix/upgrade/update.

My sis was here (dr appt) and said the fix on her basement was just about complete and that the HVAC guy was to be there this week, so, I can go there next week and do some of the preliminary framing.

Hey guys...Got up normal time today, didn't want to, but had several things to get done early. GS#2 and I have been trimming windows. He's doing the touchup staining and helping with the longer pieces. Going to be a two or three day job. Just came back to town to grab a bite, then back out to do a few more windows.

Financial planner is supposed to be here at 5 today to help us fill out the paper work for Rosie's retirement, so, I need to be back in town before that. Well, I better get to it.

Morning guys... Dang I slept longer than I thought....it's the 16th already? I missed my birthday too! Well, my watch says it's the 6th, so maybe Tommy had fat fingers this morning, glad I've NEVER done that!

I rolled over and turned the alarm off when it went off this morning and slept another hour and a half.

It's still cold out there, 23 now, but headed to the low 50s. I'll try to finish spraying the door today. I had told them I could (and planned to) start installing the window casing today, but, for people who were hot to trot before Christmas, they never got back with me to make the arrangements for me to be able to do that. No idea what's up with that.

Have a great day guys....

I am listing this 50th Anniversary model coupe (RPO Z25), that has been well cared for, for a friend of mine. It has had 2 previous owners. The original owner put 40k on it and the second owner another 32k. The Current owner has had it for ten years and has only put 10k miles on it. It now has a total of 82K. The reason for selling? Well, the owner just has not had the time to enjoy it like he thought, and now can use the money for other endeavors.

Like most Corvettes from 2003, this one has the LS1 346ci engine, and 4 speed Automatic transmission. The gorgeous maroon paint shows some signs that this Corvette was driven, but very presentable, and many of the imperfections could be buffed out with a little elbow grease. The linen (color) leather seats show very little signs of wear (if any). All the correct equipment is included, the maroon paint, linen color interior, champagne color wheels and this one still sports most of the 50th Anniversary decals. This car is also a dual roof model and has the transparent roof panel as well as the body colored one. It has Michelin AS+3 non run-flat tires that have less than 5000 miles on them.

Maintenance was given to this car on a regular basis. It drives like a Corvette should, tight, responsive and it has the F55 Magnetic ride shocks. It comes with a fairly new (about 18 months) red car cover. Asking price is $17,000, but there is a little room to wiggle. Title is free and clear. If you are interested in this beautiful 50th Anniversary model 2003 Corvette coupe, private message me and I will see to it that you get the contact information.

Morning guys.... uh, yea, it's still morning. Took some night-time cold medicine and slept hard until it wore off. Got up and coughed once, then went back to sleep. When I woke up again it was 9:30.... didn't feel like getting up, but i did.

Haven't done a lot, went down to the school to pick up another piece the lady with the trim, decided that I needed to spray for her. So, I've been out spraying and now, waiting for lacquer to dry.

Morning guys....slept in again. Felt pretty good all day but by bedtime I wasn't, didn't sleep all that well. Hacked and coughed a lot when I got up now feeling a little better.

Tommy, sorry you didn't do better on the cruise, but, at least you didn't lose you arse... MArcus, I've gradually been gathering metric tools too. The HF seem to work OK for my needs.

I've got 5 pieces of trim to finish today then I'll be done with that portion of the job. I'll arrange to go out and start putting it up.

Hey guys...slept in this morning, 9:30....getting close to those efforts made by our long lost friend, Brad. After getting up I got a phone call from the lady needing to bring the trim over for me to spray the finish on. So I went out to help her unload it. As soon as she left I laid out the first 18 pieces and started spraying. She had only brought about a third of the pieces, and she headed off to get the rest, and by the time she got back, I had one coat sprayed on and sanded.

While that was drying good I went over to the storage garage, and loaded up the miter saw, compressor and nail gun and took it back over to the kitchen remodel I did so they could finish up putting baseboard on.

Back home I sprayed finish on the boards again and prepped the next batch and when the first ones were done, I did the next batch and then the next...now I'm waiting to move the fourth batch in after giving it the second coat and I'm done for the night.

Oh, in between the guy putting the baseboard on sends a text saying he's done and I can come get my tools, so I run by there and haul tools off, talk with the couple and they cannot stop thanking me for all my work and trying to fugure out how they are going to pay me....NO NEED TO EVEN THINK OF PAYING ME, but thank you anyway.

Letty, Blanco sinks are nice. That's what I try using. They are a composite granite and can be mounted on top or under the countertop.

Marcus, let me know what you are thinking.

Morning guys....I guess I'm not feeling too hot this morning. Alarm went off, Rosie got up, but I just laid there and she says, "Are you getting up?", "Yea, in a few minutes". The next thing I know the radio is off (plays for an hour on alarm) and I look at the clock and it's been an hour and 45 minutes.

Not sure what's on the agenda today. I had a call from the guy that I have do my mechanic work, he and his wife are both former students, asking me if I was interested in looking at their kitchen for new cabinets. So, I went over and spent a couple hours talking to them and in the end, I thanked them for the opportunity, but declined as it was going to mean a huge amount of time doing all the little custom things they wanted, and I just decided that I didn't want to mess with it, but did agree to build them a custom table.

My sister called last night to update me on her basement project. Looks like I will be headed up there to do a few things pretty soon.

Our neighbor friends called the other day to say they sold their "cabin" out in New Mexico, and were buying another one. If you remember, when we were out in Colorado, we went down to visit them, and at that time, they had put their place on the market and had made an offer on the other place contingent on the sale of their place. Anyway, they want me to go out with them to go through the new place and see what all needs to be done and probably help them with the repairs. So I have that to do this winter/spring.

Waiting on my tax guy to get back with me, he contacted me about doing some work in his house. So he is supposed to bring the trim pieces to spray finish on them, then I can start putting it up.

Just had a call from another contractor (painting/finisher) asking me if I had time, or even wanted, to replace some siding on a house so he could do the painting on it. Had to turn him down, don't really want to do that kind of work.

Looks like 2020 is going to be busy for me.

Better get going, have a great day gurus.

Morning guys....It's pretty chilly this morning, started out in the upper teens, 34 now, but headed to mid 50s. Sunny and clear. We slept in until 9. Nothing too exciting for us last night either, went to bed about 11 when we were both falling asleep in our recliners.

Rosie is putting Christmas away today.

I trust that you all have a great 2020.

Well, I've gotten nothing done yet...and that's OK. I took a bill by the Rec center for work I did Sunday, and because it was close to that kitchen remodel I finished (my part)earlier this month, I decided to drive by, and, to my surprise, the carpet layers were there....last I heard was, that wasn't going to happen until January 17, so this will finish up the project. And it does look good. A few small pieces of trim are all that is left and the SIL is going to do that.

On the way home I stopped at Rosie's office to let her know about the carpet. While I was there one of her clients, a member of our church, came in and asked to see her. After she left Rosie called me into her office and showed me a bag full on homemade tamales. The lady told Rosie that she appreciated all that she and I do for her and at church. I had some of them for lunch....delicious!

I started some of the things for tonight's get-together.

Morning guys... cold here this morning, 16 when I got up all the way up to 19 now....Brrrrrr. They say it will hit the mid 40s, we'll see.

Not a lot on the agenda today. Rosie at work, so I have o get some of the stuff ready for our NYE gathering ... just #2 and a couple of the kids. Actually, Rosie and I will probably NOT see the new year in, as, I guess, we are just old folks who like to sleep.

I hope and trust that your last day of the year is a great one.

Gris, that IS one "Big Ass tree".

Hey guys...slept in, then went out to the shop and I got three phone calls, so headed out to see what was going on at each of those issues. Just got back from that. Major and minor disasters, but I've got them under control.

Still in our thoughts and prayers, John. Have a good time Tommy. Git, yer a$$ to work there Marcus. You can't slack off just because it's the end of the year.

Darn chilly early this morning, but has warmed up a little this afternoon. Sunny and breezy.

Well, I finished up a couple of things....the shadow box and one of the "Wedding name" hanger that I do for Rosie's crocheted names that we do as wedding presents. When I came in I had FB 'private messages' lighting up my phone. It was a group message Rosie and I are on, from our high school classmates. One of them, home for the holidays, wanted to get together. It is 2 1/2 hours drive for us to where they were meeting. I asked Rosie, "Do you want to go?" "No. not really." OK, no biggie to me. But the messages kept on coming and finally, she says "What time would we have to leave to be there by 4?" "Pretty soon", I said. "Well, let's change and go."

So we changed clothes and jumped in the Caddy and headed east. She asked if I wanted to take the Corvette......yes, but better not, the weather was iffy. About half way there, it started snowing pretty good. No accumulation on the roads, but enough for her to say, "Do you think we should turn back?" "No, it's not that bad, but I glad we didn't take the Corvette." I continues snowing all the way to Great Bend (where we were meeting). There ended up being 12 show up and we spent 3 hours reminiscing. After that we jumped back in the car and headed west. Rosie says, "I'm glad we came, it was nice to see them." By then, the snow had moved on east, the clouds had cleared and the roads dry all the way home.

Not exactly how I planned the day, but it was good.

Morning guys...It's cold and we got a bit of snow overnight. More of a dusting than a real snow. It's clear this morning and the temps are supposed to only reach the mid 30s.

Rosie has picked up a cold...she's kind of miserable with her stopped up sinuses. I'm not quite where she is, but I've been getting a bit of drainage myself.

I am going out to the shop to try and finish the display box.

Hey guys...Slept in some this morning. It was cold and damp, but the weather gurus said it would warm up, then turn cold and rainy.

While we were gone in KC, a friend called me to do a project for his dad. Dad is a Korean War Vet and, for some reason, never received his medals...including a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. He spent 3 years trying to get these for his dad, and finally got them. A local gentlemen, former state representative who has connections, also has arranged for an Adjutant General to come down and present them to him...so, here is where I come in.... I am building a "shadow box" to display them. So, I have been working on that today, and I told my friend, "I am honored that you asked me to do this, and I will do it as a donation for your Dad"

Well, Rosie and I went over to the 'city' to pick up a few groceries and before we left the 'city' it started raining. And has rained most of the day and is supposed to rain through most of the day tomorrow. LET 'ER RAIN, we need the moisture so bad.

John, we will be thinking about you and the family tomorrow.

Just about two weeks away from my 65th, unfortunately I will continue to work.

Hey folks... didn’t sleep in this morning, well, got up late, but had a period of time last night where I didn’t sleep, so the hours slept were about the same.

Weather has done an about-face from yesterday. Almost 70 yesterday, today it is barely to the freezing mark, cloudy and damp. I’m ready to go home and sleep in my own bed tonight, not sure if that is going to happen or not. There is some nasty stuff supposedly moving in tonight from the southwest, exactly where we are headed.... I’d like to be ahead of the storm and be home tonight.

Some rough times ahead for you John in the next few days, my prayers are still with you.

Have a great day.

Merry Christmas folks....
So sorry John, I know what that feels like. Prayers to your family.

We got up pretty early and headed west. We got here about 11:30 and most of the family was already here.

Pretty much a family gathering, the normal conversations. One of Rosie’s SILs cornered me (super liberal from Colorado) and wanted to ask me questions “as a Trump supporter”. I’m sure she thought she was going to convert me. Then she made some comment about me being educated and smart, but couldn’t figure out how I could not see the “real issues”. I told I could see them very clearly and that the liberal Democratic Party should all be put on trial for being anti-American and treason. Well that was pretty much the end of that conversation.

We are at FIL house tonight. head home tomorrow.

Morning guys....up about normal time. Took #1 and SIL out for breakfast. The kids will be here around noon. Helped them with the cleaning and touch-up around the house. Rosie and I will go to the store for last minute stuff needed for the party tonight, in a little while.

Your little get together is going to be quite a bit bigger than ours, Tommy. Only 17 here.

Well, Rosie is calling me to take her to the store. I'll try to check in later.

We went out to lunch for #5 GS birthday at lunch. Then Rosie and I went to the mall, I went to the massage place, so I did the massage for you Tommy.

This evening, we took #3 and family and SILs mother out to eat at a sports bar, good hamburgers.

They love the “corn hole” game I made for them.....they have played every day since we brought it to them...set up in the basement.....headed down now to play again.

Morning guys...That's funny Gris! Slept in again today. Sleeping in to this time has become the 'norm', so I don't know if I can call it sleeping in anymore. Almost 40 already, and headed to upper 50s maybe low 60s.

Not much on the agenda, lunch with #1 and most of the family for #5 GS birthday celebration (11). Always tough having your birthday this close to Christmas, #1 tries to make it special for him though.

Sorry to hear that your back is giving you so much trouble Tommy. Sounds like it about time for a visit to the massage therapist, the acupuncturist and the drug store for a refill of Ibuprofen.
