Morning guys... Feels like fall. Mid 50s to mid 80s.

I've got a cabinet to remove and modify today.

Washed the pickup this morning before my nephew came by to drop off the 'new' headlights. They looked pretty darn good, but I spent about an hour on each one sanding, polishing and readying them to go. the drivers side was the most important one so I spent a bit more time on it.

Was a pretty thin day here yesterday. Everybody must be out and about.

A bit warmer to start the day here, upper 50s headed to the upper 80s. Very hazy from the smoke and it smells like smoke ouyside today, first time I've noticed that.

Nothing on the agenda for today.

Tomorrow I'll go remove a pantry cabinet and try yo get it cut down and modified fora client out south in the sandhills. Tuesday, My buddy, who we ran the concrete footers for last week is ready to form up the stem walls.

Morning guys... Slept in some, now watching LeMans. Missing Corvette Racing there. Assuming it had to do with travel restrictions....Ok they just now explained. I guess the race won't be as interesting to me this year.

Beautiful day here, low 50 for a start and mid 80s for highs...carbon copy of what e have seen all week.

Morning guys....A nother nice, fall feeling, morning. The only thing affecting the almost perfect weather, is the smoky haze from the fires out west.

I'm, kind of, at a standstill with the door, until I get the new handle. We went to the glass place I use over in the 'city' and ordered the glass. We went with a seedy glass. It will come as an insulated two pane system. Not sure how long it is going to take, but it will take as long as it takes.

Morning guys... Slept until 8 then got up and prepped some ribs for smoking tomorrow. Yes, it is a beautiful morning. low 50s high in the 80s. Carbon copy of the last few days. We will love it and will take it.

Was brought some brass plaques to engrave, so I'll do that this morning. Later, I'm helping a friend run a little concrete for a project of re-siding his house and replacing windows.

Corvette Bob, thaanks for the kind comment. Gris, I felt that way about some of my students.

Hey guys.,,Up and around normal time today, but out to the shop pretty quick. Low 50 start and mid 80s for the high. Absolutely gorgeous.

Doors open in the shop and 70s on 7 going this morning. Dry assembled complete door, and found a couple issues, so fixed those. I'm ready for final assembly..well as soon as I get the latch and dead bolt holes bored....and I got an email saying my handle was shipped out today, so soon.

We walked down to the pharmacy and got our flu shot this morning too.

007s' driver ride headlight must have had something hit it as there are 3 or 4 parallel cracks in it. Was thinking I would buy new lenses and replace them myself, then thought about sending them in to have them fixed. Then on Facebook, I'm a member of an Orange Corvette group, one of the members posted that he replaced his headlights with Morimotos', and he wanted to sell his originals. I read his description and looked at pictures
and told him too bad he wasn't closer as I was interested (he said local pickup only and he lives in Californica). He responded back, "Are you close to Wichita? I will be there for work for about 3 months." We settled on a price and to mke a longer story shorter, my nephew picked them up for me yesterday evening, and will be bringing them out this weekend.

I made good progress on the door today. Nearly ready to final assemble. But can't....or in reality, don't want to until I receive my new handle/hardware, so I can use my drill press to accurately bore the holes for the latch and dead bolt. I might go ahead and do some staining of the parts.

Hey guys... Busy day. We slept in some, then I headed out to the shop to work on the new front door. Friend from down the street came down and wanted to work on the 'coffee bar' pump organ they brought back and dropped here for me to convert. He's been over applying the stain and finish. We needed to turn some "bun feet" to raise the thing up a bit (about 3")....he acted like he wanted to do the turning, but he hasn't done any turning since he was like a sophomore in high school ... and he's a year older than I am. So I let him do the rough turning, after some quick instruction. Then turned four buns and to finials. After I got them turned, he stained and finished them.

Thiss 'detour' kept me from getting a lot done on the door, but I still got the mortises and tenons cut on the stiles and rails.

I've fired up the pellet grill and will grill a couple KC strip steaks for supper.

Made the trip up and back. When I go to pull in the garage, I get a whiff of antifreeze, uhhmm... I pull on in and there's a drip or two on the concrete. So I pop the hood and start looking, and I see a spot or two, but can't tell where it's coming from. So I start it up and I think it's coming from the water pump, but can't tell for sure, but it now is pretty wet under the car. I'll take it out Monday and have it looked at and let them fix it ASAP.

GS ran 25 seconds faster than last week, but it's hard to compare,as the courses are so different. Distances are the same (if they measured them out correctly).

I'm hearing you Tommy, in respect to your health issues. And nobody wants their loved ones/friends to pass, but it's a part of life that none of us can get away from...unless it is us who pass first. Sometimes it is easier to understand that it is Gods will and, like in my situation with my mom, I knew it would be better for her to not fight it anymore. Hospice was a God-send in our case.

I went with the B6 shocks. The B8 shocks are for lowered cars and I'm not going to lower 007 any more than stock... I scrape going in and out of the drive ass it is.

It has warmed a bit this afternoon. Appears our total rainfall is about 1". Clouds are beginning to break and the sun is poking through occasionally.

Up and around on out on him for today, and wanted to know if I "wanted a 'warm up session' for tomorrows home high school opener" ..... So I'm helping out with thaat this evening.

Headed out to the shop to work on the new door. Lumber came yesterday, late, afternoon. I actually had to go over to the 'city' to pick it up as the truck driver ran out of time (some new fangled equipment will shut the truck down when they have been on the road for so long each day...the way I understand it) and I wanted it this moring, but didn't want to get up early to meet him ... he was talking about coming by at 6am ....Uh, no thank you.

Supposed to start a warming trend today and be back to near normal temps by Sunday. Stay warm and dry guys.

Morning guys... Well, the cold front moved through during the night. t some point I reached down and grabbed the bedspread and covered to keep myself warm.(windows were open). It is supposed to only be low 40s today for the high. it is also spitting out some moisture.

Nothing really on the agenda today. I have a few things to do in the shop. I started building a new front door for the house. I've wanted to do this for several years now. I ordered lumber a few weeks back (quarter sawn white oak), but as I started cutting the pieces out, I found that I was short. So last week I ordered ssome more and it should leve on the truck tomorrow morning, and I should get it maybe, tomorrow afternoon or at latest, Thursday morning. As stated the other day, I love craftsman style houses, so this door will be in that style. I ordered a craftsman style door handle and it should be shipped next week. All this is NOT cheap though. I have about $700 in the lumber (quarter sawn white oak isn't cheap) and period style handle and the new hinges (to carry the extra weight of the solid oak door) account for another $350. I want to install leaded antique glass which might run another $300 (I might by-pass the leaded portion but will do the antique verion)...so I have well over $1000 in this project...not accounting for my labor time. I see why similar doors sell for $2500 - $4000. I could have bought a cheaper door that was either fiberglass or made out of non-appropriate materials, but what fun would that be?

Well, I better get to it, I hope, all of you, have a great day.

Well, the "nothing on the agenda" turned into plugs and coil pack change on GSs Caddy CTS. Intake has to come off to get to them. Cleaned the throttle body while I was at it...then washed and vacuumed it as well. That made the day go by.

Rosie and I also went over to #2s house (to deliver the Caddy) and was there in time for dessert. Then went for a 5 mile bike ride. Not bad considering it was 100 degrees outside today. Another hot one tomorrow, then the bottom drops out....the weather gurus have even dropped the "S" word for Tuesday night. From 100 today to 31 (predicted) Wednesday morning........

Morning guys...Beautifully cool this morning. Going to warm up into the 90s today and tomorrow then up to 100 Sunday, back into the upper 90s Monday, then low 50s Tuesday... Straight from Summer into early winter.

I know what you guys are talking about, as far as people going back to work. We have been waiting to finish the church hall classroom project, that we started back in January. Waiting on some pre-finished trim to complete that, but the supplier tells our local lumberyard guy that he can't get people to come back to work, because they can make more on unemployment.

Got a few things to do out in the shop today. Tomorrow we will go north about an hour to cheer on GS#3 do his cross country run. It's his first year doing this and he is really liking it.

Have a great day.

A beautiful morning here in SW Kansas. Breezy and cool. Supposed to be seasonably cool today with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s.

I have some things to do in the shop and we might make the trip over to the 'city' for a few groceries.

I hope and pray, all of you, have a great day.

Finished up the cabinets and trim....well, mostly I have one piece to put up tomorrow.

Weather warmed up today but tomorrow is supposed to cool off to upper 70s to low 80s and next week we have a couple days they are saying mid 50s for highs...that should get out attention.

Had a K of C meeting tonight, first one since the pandemic.

No invite for US, Marc? sniff-sniff

Sorry Tommy.

John, I love the craftsman style....have I said that before? All my furniture that I have been, for myself, is in the craftsman style. I've got aa plan for a new front door for the house that will be a craftsman style.

Morning guys...Woke up at 5 to the sound of a gentle rain...Praise the Lord....only problem is, it only amounted to .1 inch, but we'll take what we get.

Electrician is at the job already, I'll go check on things in a little bit.

House is still open, highs of mid 70s again today.

I know what you are saying Gris, my hands and fingers don't want to do things they need to do.

Hey folks. Up normal time (8am) Around and on the road over to the 'city' to the electrical supply store to get what I needed to get my table saw back up and running. My electrician buddy went with me, so I would get the right stuff. Not much choice in parts...Ok, if that's what I need I'll take them.....$379 for a freaking switch.... Back home and my buddy and I got it installed before lunch.

After lunch,I headed over to the current job where the plumbers were working on roughing in for the sink. I explained (and showed them the cabinets/sink which were sitting on the porch) what we needed... they were glad I showed up and explained. Back home to the shop to build a couple drawers, shelves and trim details. The electrician is supposed to be there tomorrow, so I'll go back and make sure they get the outlets in the right place.

About 5:30, one of my little old ladies called me and said she the Tv in her kitchen had pooped out and tht they had bought a new one, nd could I come over and hook it up aand get it running for them...Sure I'll be right over. So an hour later I get home to grill some veggies and fresh caught striper bass that a neighbor caught yesterday brought home and gave to us.

Oh, it was so cool this morning, 57 when we got up and only went up to 75...we had the house open all day.

John, yesterday, you mentioned that your house was a Craftsman, does it still have all the Craftsman details inside? I love Craftsman style houses, furniture and details.

Well, the cool went away pretty quickly and heat and humidity came back with a vengeance.

I went out to replace the switch on the table saw, but the new one wasn't the right kind for the starter (as it turns out). So tomorrow, I'll make a run to the 'city' and, hopefully, the electrical supply place will have one.

Nice report John. As I said the other day, Carlisle is on my list of events I want to attend. I love the mid-year Marina Blue/white color combo, as well as Carlisle Blue. Still waiting to see a C8 in person. Holding judgement as to whether or not I would ever be a buyer, until I see if I could get enough luggage for a trip in one.

Morning guys... I'm up, but tired still. Gs #2 and # are coming over for breakfast, as Daughter is gone for the weekend and we are, sort of, watching them.

It has been cool, but very humid. Today is more of the same, It is trying to rain now.

Nothing much planned for the rest of the day...at least I haven't been told of anything.

Morning guys...slept in a bit. The cold front moved through and cooled things down....humid, but cooler, 66 now, and only headed toward the upper 70s. It dropped an inch of rain too. We needed that pretty badly.

I've got a Knights of Columbus deal in the town north of us this afternoon, so not going to get too carried away with anything today.

Well, the trip to pick up materials turned out to be a dud...the guy was there on Wednesdaym bought and paid for all the siding we were there to pick up, and told them he would be back today to pick up the materials. Called me last night, we picked up the trailer this morning and got over there to have the counter guy tell us, "Gee, I hope we have enough, I sold some yesterday." Well, they only had about 20% of what he bought...and they had more than enough Wednesday. So our trip was basically for naught. They tried to make us take what they had on hand, but I told them, we wanted all of it from thee same lot number so it all matches.

Got back home and piddled around the shop for a while then went over and did some work, hung a wall cabinet and did some painting of some trim. Then decided to go out to hang a door for a gal working on a shed. We are supposed to get some weather tonight, so I figured she needed the door hung.

Soaking my feet now and having a Summer Shandy ... or two ... or three.

Hey guys, another busy day. Hotter than H, but the weather gurus are predicting cooler temps for the weekend. 98 yet tomorrow, but low 80s for the weekend.

Letty, I've seen your posts on FB, I didn't know the other gal wasn't one of your 'friends'. John, C at C is one of those things I'd like to do someday.

Hey guys...slept in again, then headed out to get some things done in the shop.

It got hot today, 97, but really didn't feel as bad as some of the days a week ago, because we are back to near normal humids. Hot again tomorrow, then a cool down for a few days.

Nice ride there Gris! Bob, I guess the HR dept is afraid to say anything in case they get in trouble with the liberal left....it' BS.

Hey folks....been a busy day back. Picked up where I left off last week, no little gnomes or elves came in and finished off the work I left unfinished in the shop.

Gris, you can come here to my house and sit on the front porch and shoot doves....not sure my neighbors will appreciated it, but, I wouldn't care....

Letty, I hope you're going to get paid extra for all that work you've done on that 'simple' project.
