If you'd like a huge improvement in your stopping power, put in a new dual diaphragm booster. This unit has a metal case, not plastic, and it fits right in where your single diaphragm unit fits. It's similar to the ZR1 booster, but the ZR1 booster won't fit regular 'vettes.

This booster costs a little more than the standard booster, but it works a lot better!! It's available from SAC Hot Rod, Orange CA, phone 714-997-3433. This booster is about $415.

Can't see your picture, but my '84 doesn't have any solenoid on the back of the compressor. Could you be talking about the vacuum actuated heater control valve, that's located in front of the A/C evap. box, at the right (passenger side) rear corner of the engine? Is this "solenoid" hot or cold when the defroster is turned on? Or are you talking about the connectors that plug into the compressor? The plug on the top rear of the compressor is the safety switch, which will disable the compressor if the freon gets too low, or if the head pressure gets too high. The plug on the top front, as you probably know, is for the clutch, which connects the compressor to the drive pulley.

Find a tall skinny friend. His long arms will make the job easy.

My '84 horns died, too. I think they got shook apart! That firm ride shakes light bulbs apart, too! Pep Boys has some "Loud" horns, two different notes, and they sound good! I'm happy with them, and they haven't been shaken apart after two years. The've got a good "GM" sound, not a Japanese sound.
