Need some info here please. My vette was overheating and I changed the oil and water coolant and all that. One day it got really hot and I coasted into the gas station. I shut it off and the next day I got a tow truck to come get it. The next dat I turned it over with no problem at all. It seemed to be alot of back pressure coming back out of the radiator cap when I took it off, and alot of coolant coming out of the coolant resavoir tank in front of the engine. The I was told that it can't be fixed and that I need a new engine. Some white smoke came out a bit from the exaust then stopped and it didn't do it when I started it up again. So I really can't afford to have this child hood friend do this job. He told me it was going to cost a totall of about 8000.00 for it, some friend, mechanic huh. The motor does turn over so that would tell me that it's not siezed correct. Can anyone give me some input

[/size:d6fd6d4476] [/color:d6fd6d4476][B][I] I have a oil leak on my Vette. I was told it might be the oil censor. But it's not that. It looks like it is on the top of the motor, towards the back of it. I steam cleaned the motor so I could try to see where it was coming from. I can only see some oil residew. A friend of mine said that it maybe the silicone seal. Anyone have any input on this. I have a 1996, white C4 Vette. 350 LT-1 motor.
And anyone know where I can get a chip for the engine. I have had no luck in finding one

I live in Cape May, New Jersey. And yes the Dealers here are over rated.over priced. I'm looking for someone who specializes in Vettes. To be honest with you I am probably going to end up taking my Vette to the Atlantic City area. Or just take it up to near the Philadelphia area. Because there alot more choices.I am also looking for someone who specializes in rebuilding them too. So hopefully I can get someone who knows their stuff.
Thanks Again Fellas

Hi guys. Tony here again. Well the security system is fine on my 96 vette. I did what you guys told me to do. I got a new key, and it started rite up... thanks again fellas.
Now I got my altenator checked. Because I got a new battery. And I had to get a jump the next day. It was only putting out 11 at the time, the altenator, so the shop said that I need a new one. 140 amp one for my 96, 350, LT1. So I charged the new battery up. And put it back in my vette. Then the Volts meter was reading 13.9, 14.6. and it went down a few times to about 11.3.. It seemed to be working fine, at night now with all the lights and things on. the alll of a sudden it dropped to about 9.0, 9.8. Was do you think is causing this

Hello Guys. I want to thank you all for all of the help that was given to me from everyone here. Ok it was the key to the ignition. I got a new one and it started rite up. I had a argument with the guy at the dealership too. he said that my key was fine and was working good, when he put it in the computer. They just wanted to charge me alot of time for nothing. So I called them when I got home and started it up. No problems at all with it now.
New Battery in it, and now my altenator went, only getting 11 volts out of it, so I guess I gotta get a new one.
And thanks again for all of your help with everything. I will def be on this site alot guys
