Should VATS still kick in after being disabled using TunerCat ($EE)? I wish the GM-EFI hackers were interested in the LT1 PCMs- it seems they really like the older stuff... Lots of cool hacks for the L98 ECU.

Mine is an '89. On mine, to completely deactivate it, it has to be deactivated in the tune AND I had to remove the "starter" relay behind the driver information center and put a jumper wire in it's plug. It was easy to do but I don't know if yours is the same as mine.

If tried it on my 94, when turned off, i can wrap tape around the key and it still starts. Turned back on, and it wont start unless the right key is in.

On an 89, all you need to do is put the correct value resistor in the circuit that connects to the two terminals that contact the key. Nothing more that i know of.
