replacing rear bearing on 91 auto convert 82K miles---foreward bolt completely seized. Would anyone recommend replacing the u-joints on that side axle at this time. Ticking sound main concern and most problematic.

Yay! you posted this question!
Ok... have you tried to soak the bolts in PB Blaster? If not, do so. That stuff will free anything. Seriously. The advantage here is that you can see the end of the threads, so hitting them is really quite easy. Also, hit the insides of the bolt with PB Blaster. Whatever you do, don't replace the Torx bolts with anything else but a Torx. They are used cause they clear the stub axle. And yes, I would replace the rear ujoints. You're more than halfway through it... Don't forget to clean the axle stubs with a steel brush to remove the rust. Also, when replacing, coat them in anti-seize so it will stop rust from forming. The rust can cause clicks... but since you tried spraying PB Blaster inside the stub axle and it didn't help, then I feel either the bearings or ujoints have failed. |

Also replace that thin washer on the axle stub with a new one. (both sides)
This has also been known to cause the clicking sound. BTW When using anti-seize, use sparingly. In this case a very light coating with an acid brush is all that you'll need. |
