My wife's fairly new Malibu went nuts tonight. On her evening commute the dash just started going crazy.

Speedo, temp gauge, fuel gauge, Tach, all are jumping all over the place. The Driver Info Readout is giving errors for just about every system in the car. AC is blowing hot air when the digital readout says 60. Car basically runs like crap too. I told her to turn it off and re-start - Not...

I tried it several times tonight and it's still doing the same thing. I called my friends at the dealership and they are towing it in tomorrow morning and giving me a loaner for the day.

Any of you guys have a clue what this may be caused by?

damn... I can't even begin to guess...

Just hope it's under warrantee!!!!

I would start with diags, and grounds. I wonder if the PCM or CCM failed. It could be as simple as a screwed up IP, but I doubt that.

I wonder if it's related to the battery, since those are symptoms the vettes give when the battery goes bad. Perhaps that or the charging system in general. Did it just come out of nowhere?

Yup! Just reared its ugly head. The car has less than 20k miles on it and we bought it at the end of the 2008 model year, so its well within warranty.
This morning I dropped it off and the service writer (Corvette Club Member) checked for problems and recalls on the VIN, and it says that there was a factory bulletin on electrical spikes. We are guessing, but that might be the problem. Otherwise the car starts right up, no battery problem. Its definitely in the computer somwhere!

I'm running around in a Trailblazer today. Nice stereo and a full tank of gas compliments of Sport Chevrolet!
