Good Morning CGs!

Cold and rainy here. Hasn't stopped since yesterday but maybe this afternoon we will have a reprieve. A good day to stay inside and drink coffee (if I actually drank coffee).

Have a safe trip home tomorrow, TB.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good evening CGs!

I woke up to rain which meant I couldn't cut the grass. Instead the dog got a bath and a haircut. This evening we've had non-stop heavy rain that will probably continue into tomorrow. Oh well.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

The sun is out and the temps are mild. Probably one of the last few nice days.

Letty, have a safe trip.

Gris, hope you feel better.

Tommy, good luck with the hiring. Good help is hard to find.

Marcus, sounds like TB needs to stop by and give you a hand

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Late post here.

TB, sounds like you've been enjoying yourself. Sorry to hear about your friends' electrical troubles but glad it wasn't worse. And even better is that it wasn't plumbing.

Gris, any shows this weekend?

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Dreary with light rain and cool here. Yesterday was warm. Tool the Vette out for one of the last few days for the season it seems.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Welcome back, Dan. I'm in a C5 now after losing my C4 last year. I miss the C4 so I understand your desire to get back into one.

Good Evening CGs!

Got the grass cut today and tidied up the house but didn't get too much else accomplished.

Tommy, the car is looking good there. And congrats to your niece.

Picking up some Mexican food for dinner now. We don't eat out very often so it's a nice treat.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good Morning CGs!

Sorry I've been MIA. No excuse.

We took the kids hiking in Saturday and heard nothing but complaints from my daughter the while time. *Sigh* So we cut that short and came home.

Bob, hope you're in a better frame of mind today. You never need to apologize for venting here. A lot of us have experience in similar areas so we understand and want to support you as much as possible.

Letty, hope the car is coming along.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Despite my initial reluctance I got the grass cut yesterday morning. It's a good thing because we had more rain last night into this morning. I guess procrastinating wouldn't have helped me in this case.

Marcus, hope your client's car wasn't on that transport truck the other day. Terrible loss there.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Overcast here but hopefully no more rain.

I played TB this morning and did some plumbing. The garbage disposal took a crap after 8 years which I didn't think was too bad (we use it a lot). Older and wiser me bought the exact replacement even though I could have saved $20 here or there. Exact replacement meant the mount was the same, the wires were the right length, and the drain pipes lined up. 15 minute job and no surprises.

Bought a can of touch up paint for the Corvette the other day. Paid too much as I bought it at a local place but oh well. I had two chips that were bothering me. I touched those up and I'm much happier. A tip for touch up paint is don't use the brush in the kit, dab it with a toothpick using a very small amount of paint. Works much better.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I use an Autel MX808 tablet. It's a pretty comprehensive scanner and has live data, graphing, bidirectional tests, etc. The price has come down a bit since that model came out, you can find them around $400 online.

I figured I had to start the chat early so Marcus doesn't snipe me again

Can't believe another month is over. I sound like a broken record when I say that but it's true.

Didn't get too much work accomplished yesterday. Hopefully I can finish up some chores today.

Tommy, glad the AC fix was an easy one.

Good Morning CGs!

Roosters must still be asleep in the barnyard. Already 9:15 and no chat.

Cool to start off the morning and should warm up soon.

Got the grass cut yesterday morning so that's done. I need to blow out the sprinklers and get those closed for the season. Also need to change the house water filter. Always chores to be done.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

This morning was actually a good time for me. My cousin Mark called me Sunday night and asked me if I wanted to go look at a car with him Monday morning. The car was about an hour away and he wanted my help checking it out and possibly driving his car home if he bought it. So he picked me up around 8:30 and we hit the road. We met the guy at 10:00 a.m. in the Lowe's parking lot. The car was a 2003 Mustang Mach 1 with a V8 and a 5-speed. Mostly stock with a couple of minor modifications. The guy had presented the car as a 9 out of 10 interior and exterior. Unfortunately when we got there he was a little generous with his ratings. The body had some rust on it which really upset my cousin. It also had a lot of stone chips that have been touched up and some minor scratches. The car supposedly had 99,600 miles on it. So then a little further inspection showed that it had a pretty massive oil leak - not sure if it was the pan or an oil pressure sender. Then when I scanned it I found a code for the ABS module as well as the oil pressure sender and a communications code. The worst part was when I scanned the car the dash cluster had been replaced at some point and the car actually had 159,900 miles on it. I showed the guy and he was floored. I think his heart was in his shoes. The guy wasn't trying to take advantage of us it's just that when he bought the car 2.5 years ago he never had it inspected and the guy knew nothing about cars. So I was really nice about it and I went over all the problems with him but basically told him the car that he wanted 13 grand for was worth eight. That's a little hard to swallow but the guy was very apologetic. My cousin was pretty happy with me that I brought my scanner. And he was a professional BMW mechanic for 8 years so he's not unfamiliar with fixing cars. After that we drove the hour and 15 minutes home and had lunch on the way. That was my reward for saving him from a lemon.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

It's a good thing you're retired, TB. Otherwise you'd be fixing cars, installing countertops, moving cabinets, fixing drywall...maybe even a little plumbing

Still chilly here but I like it. Fall days are my favorite days.

Besides the tools I also collect vintage Snap-on catalogs. Got this 1942 last night for my collection. I still need a few older catalogs but those are hard to find and pretty pricey. Some are a couple hundred a piece. Patience is the key.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Sorry to hear of the passing of your extended family member, TB. 64 is too young.

Draining the pool and it's not going as fast as I would like. I want instant gratification. Oh well, my fault for waiting. Might not get the cover on it until tomorrow morning.

Still chilly but doesn't seem as bad as yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Another cold day here, jeans and sweatshirt weather.

Tommy, I think about things like that on a pretty regular basis. Some people view it as morbid but I see it as a realistic approach to life. I keep building my collection of items as I go. Eventually I will have to start the opposite. Like a pendulum. I don't want my kids to have the burden of eliminating all of my worldly possessions. Although RR#1 wouldn't mind the cars

I still didn't completely close the pool. I'm not as dedicated as you are to yard work.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy first day of fall. Yes, hard to believe, right? Chilly here and the rain continued overnight. Makes it inconvenient to close the pool and cut the grass. Oh well.

Tool sales have picked up this week after a lethargic month overall. That is always a plus.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Tried to get in a good workout today but could only muster up some cardio. Back to lifting tomorrow.

Sold a few tools today which was nice after a dry spell the past few weeks.

Nice truck there, Will. My BIL has the Ecoboost and pulls a small trailer for his construction business. It's an impressive engine. You should see what they can do once they're tuned. Even better.

Good Morning CGs!

Bob, sorry to hear about the engine woes but it's good you found those problems and were able to correct them before they became a bigger issue.

Put the dog out in the yard earlier and he was barking. That's normal, he keeps the birds, bunnies, and squirrels out of the yard. Very protective of his space. He didn't stop so I looked outside and saw a hawk perched on the pool rail 10 feet away from the dog. I got out there pretty quick. Hawk might not have been able to get him out of the yard but those talons would pierce his organs and kill him from the inside out. First time a hawk has been in the yard so I guess we need to be more careful.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Should be a nice day today. Sunny and warm. Cool in the evening with the top down but enjoyable.

11:15 here and in waiting for my 11:00 haircut appointment. Sort of an oxymoron that I'm waiting for an appointment. Oh well.

Tommy, having to order multiple parts for your multiple cars....seems like not such a bad problem to have.

Good Morning CGs!

Time seems to slip away from me and then I realize I missed a chat or two. Sorry.

Bob, glad the blood clot scare was just that....a scare.

Tommy, speaking of headlight motors I need to rebuild 2 on my buddy's TA. One of these days coming up.

Filled up the Vette on the way home and it was $49. Premium up to $4.15 around me. Ouch.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Got the used steering rack replaced on the TA on Saturday. It seems to work great. Of course I could hear the pump whining Saturday morning before I did the deed. So today I did a fluid swap and the old stuff looked pretty dark and worn. So far the new fluid seems to have done the trick. Also installed new rear bump stops over the weekend. What I've found so far is that "low mileage" often means "low maintenance." So far this past 6 weeks it has gotten new oil and filter, new transmission fluid, new brakes, new brake fluid, new clutch fluid, and new power steering fluid. Coolant hasn't been done but it looked ok visually and no overheating problems or leaks. I'll probably do the diff fluid one of these days, too.

Vette needs an oil change, too. She's been running well, though.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Stopped at the pick and pull today, they had a steering rack for me. The rebuilt one I put in the trans am has a hard spot only when turning right. I think the linear gears are worn/damaged. Not much you can do about that. Luckily I can have the swap knocked out in about an hour or so. Maybe this weekend. Hope this rack is better than the last.

TB is in a marked lead in the votes. Marcus has a slight advantage. Good luck to both.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I gave TB a thumbs up but the option was gone on the other thread. Weird.

Good Evening CGs!

I missed a couple of days of chat.

Happy belated birthday to Sue, Tommy.

John, congratulations on the sale. That's a very strong number for the car.

I finished up working on the Trans am the other day. New brakes all around, I got the calpers all bled, did a quick fluid change in the clutch reservoir and change the transmission fluid.

Corvette has been running well with no hiccups. I had to stretch its legs today when an unkind motorist decided he wanted to pass me from a red light when he shouldn't have. The car is quick I'll give it that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

That's how I feel, Gris. I don't think I'm old until I have to get off the floor when I kneel down

Did a full brake job and flush on the trans am. Went for a test drive yesterday and the shims were screaming for mercy. Wtf. Had to take the brakes apart again this morning. The shims were not made correctly and I had to take them off and bend them into shape. Same exact thing on my buddy's TA. Weird. But now it's perfect. I just hate it when new parts don't function as intended.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Gris, I'm pretty sure they have while communities devoted to what you posted. Most seem to be in Florida. Ask Tommy....

John, glad the tornado missed you guys.

Stopped over at mom's house today to help with some chores. Had to cut down some dead branches and burn them in the pile along with old financial documents. The kids had a ball doing that. Something about fire is enticing to both young and old.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good to see you back and posting. Congrats on getting out of the city and on a little plot of land. Pipe dream for me at this point.

Sound like the headlight motor bushings are shot. Pretty easy fix overall there are tutorials out there. Good luck!

Letty - sounds like you need a vacation! Good luck with the emails.

Tommy, since you can't find parts for your cars and they are rendered useless I'd be happy to pay you scrap value for them all. I'll even pay to have them towed away to save you the burden

Good Morning CGs!

John, I saw the ad. Pictures look good. I was surprised that there was no mention of your ncrs awards in the description. But I'm glad you clarified that I'm the comments. I hope the car does well. Any estimate of selling price?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

A little cooler this morning but not sure if that will last.

Finished putting new brake rotors and pads on the Trans Am. Noticed the fluid is absolutely trash. Dark in color and full of water. A full flush is in order next week.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

We had a good amount of rain overnight. Good for the grass and flowers. Not sure if it will cool things down or just make it more humid later. I guess we'll find out.

Corvette has still been running like a top. Actually even better than before. I must have done something right.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

Another hot and humid day here. I got the grass cut this morning but the sun was already beating down. Still, it needed to be done.

The Corvette is buttoned back up and seems to be running well without any hiccups.

I've also been tinkering with the TA. Lots of time spent grinding old ugly paint off the calipers and getting those cleaned up. New brake rotors and pads, as well. I've got 3 done, need to finish up the rear passenger side in the next day or two.

Hope everyone has a great day!
