Thanks guys. I love the car already. So do the kids. Too bad it's almost time to put it away.

Good Morning CGs!

Should be cool here today. We have an appointment at the dealer this morning to go over some numbers. The wife's car is getting a little long in the tooth. The proposed upgrade is a new Honda Passport. She's already driven it so it comes down to the bottom line. We'll see.

RR#2's bff is coming over at 2 and the kids are going to carve pumpkins. I also have to cut the grass (if it's dry enough) and blow out the sprinklers. And change an evap pump on my neighbor's Jetta if there's time. Always something to do.

Yesterday I drove to St Louis and picked up my new car. 2002 C5 convertible. Check out the c5 section for some more pictures.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

As you are all aware, I lost my 89 last month. After a short search and a few WTB ads placed on the internet a gentleman on CF reached out to me. As a result I am the proud new owner of this beautiful electron blue metallic 2002 convertible. The previous owner was extremely meticulous and the car is magnificent in person, the pictures don't do it justice. After a 9 hour round trip driving (almost 12 total) it's back home.

The mods include:

Magnusson supercharger (polished and intercooled MP-122)
Stainless headers
Corsa exhaust
Dewitt's radiator and fans
EPS cam
BTR springs
Comp rocker trunions
Upgraded valve train
Tigershark front & rear bumpers
Aftermarket hood
Custom euro lights
Chrome centennial cup rims
Tons of cosmetic upgrades
(More that I'm forgetting)

The car is roughly 600 hp with the upgrades and drives like stock until you get on it. It was built to be a reliable daily driver and it certainly is. Just a hair over 90,000 miles and you'd never know it. I have a few small plans for it so I'll keep everyone posted.

Good Evening CGs!

Late check in here.

Letty, sorry to hear about your cousin. Hope she pulls through.

Tommy, I agree with you about paying for the convenience of getting it all taken care of.

Mike, congrats on the new house.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Washed the car yesterday which challenged the rain gods. They responded in appropriate fashion.

A little nicer today, sunny but cool.

Tommy, I wish someone brought me lobster tails.

Marcus, how is the new job?

Bob, obviously he didn't know to address you as "Mister" Old School

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Afternoon CGs!

More cold and rain here. A little dreary.

Tommy, you've got some good luck there. If it weren't for bad luck I wouldn't have any at all.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

I did not get the grass cut this morning as it had been raining quite a bit already. It has been raining off and on throughout the day. I also need to get the in-ground sprinkler system blown out before it gets too cold. Don't need any water freezing in the plastic pipes and breaking anything on the ground.

I guess it will be time soon to put the car aways, as well. Snow should be coming soon.

Hope everyone had a great day!

We had some music posts and other stuff that garnered a lot of early posting action back in the olden days. We had a few post experiments as well. BillH, Matt and I were all building up post counts.

Yup, good times back then. Lots of laughs. Don't forget Chris. I still keep up with him on Facebook.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Got the front grass cut today. Mower wouldn't start. Been burning oil and I think the motor is shot. I cleaned the plug and oiled the cylinder. Then it started. Not sure if it was the plug or the extra compression. I'll try a new plug first. Otherwise it's a new mower in the spring.

Forced some slave labor out of the kids and got the house cleaned up. Wife will be happy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

I was never a huge sports fan (at least watching on TV). I've always thought the modern athletes are giant crybabies and greedy. But in recent years since it's turned into a political forum for uneducated idiots to whine to the masses....well now I really don't like it. You won't catch me watching any sports.

Tommy, sorry to hear the repairs will be so expensive. The solution is to all from the service department over to the new car sales department. One simple monthly payment and your costly repair bill is gone

Hope everyone has a great day!

There's a guy named Mark Mirrock who runs a salvage yard in PA. He's got a good reputation, you could try there.

Gris, the answer is 160.

Was unseasonably warm today around 80 but has now dropped into the 50s. My kind of weather, actually.

No new car updates. Marcus - just find me that car in blue and a convertible and we'll talk

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Bday #10 for RR#2. He got some presents today in addition to the haul from last weekend. Made out like a bandit.

As a gift to me the insurance settlement arrived today. Bad news on the driveway, insurance company won't be willing to replace the entire driveway. Due to deductible and increased premiums we have decided not to file a claim and to leave it as is. Bummer.

Happy anniversary to Bob and the wife.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matt, fugget about the 60's cars. So many improvements in aerodynamics, suspension, mpg. Do you really need a modded car? Most performance vehicles in their stock configuration have more than enough power to get you in trouble. An 80's 5.0 Mustang could be fun and reasonably priced due to there being a couple of million of them. lol. Didn't you recently buy a T/A?

I agree about the advancements in technology. And the step from a C4 to a C5 is a huge improvement as well.

But once you've had a modified car it's difficult to go back to a stock car. The TA is quick but the Corvette was quicker.

A Z06 would be an option but I want a convertible. So either H/C/I or blower car would fit the bill.

The insurance company finally got back to me and they are giving me the agreed value. So that's a good thing. The car was towed out of the driveway yesterday morning. I just got back from the post office because I had to mail them the title. There is some damage to the driveway which I expected. The driveway guy is supposed to come by and take a look and give me some recommendations on what to do.

I said I wasn't going to jump into buying a new car right away but I've been looking already. I like the idea of an older muscle car but some of the prices out there are exorbitant for a nice 60s Mustang. And to be honest with you I'm not sure I would be happy with it performance and handling wise. I think I want either an early 90s Mustang Fox body or a C5 Corvette. But either one has to be a convertible and if it's a Corvette I want it modified, of course.

There is a 98 or 99 Corvette convertible on Facebook for sale not far from me for $10,000. It looks like a good driver condition car but it's all stock and if I can find one that's already modified for slightly more that would be better. I don't really want to spend $6,000 on a supercharger if I can buy one already on the car for two or three.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks guys (and gals).

Still working through the process. A week today.

The TA has agreed value through haggerty. Had I known the difference beforehand, the Vette would have as well. Live and learn.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Chilly here today. Started out in the upper 40s and is hovering around 60 now. I had planned on cutting the grass today but overnight rain cancelled those plans. It's nice to get it done one Tuesday because we have Wednesday garbage pick up. Oh well.

Still back and forth with the insurance company. Supposed to hear back tomorrow, I guess. I'm sure it will be more games.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks, Mike.

Bob, that happened to my friend about 2 years ago. Some animal built a nest next to his exhaust and it caught the car on fire. FD determined the cause and the insurance company still took almost 2 months to pay and did the same thing as you mentioned.

I have Allstate and I have an additional rider on my policy for the upgrades to the car. They are still making me jump through hoops and send receipts and whatnot. To be honest with you it's frustrating and I'm not happy with the service. They have already made me one lowball settlement offer which I laughed at. I'll get it taken care of but just remember insurance companies are not in the business of paying out claims.

Full circle! I also recently picked up a Pontiac. Does this have the LS1?

Good Morning CGs!

Cool and overcast. We had some drizzle overnight so the roads are wet. Kids are hard at work on their laptops.

We had a little party yesterday. RR#2's bday is not for a other week but this fit everyone's work schedule. So I took the kids and their cousins to play Minigolf and then back home for a party. Weather was great and it was a nice time.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

RR#2s bday is another week and a half away but we're celebrating today due to schedules. Taking the kids to do some mini golf and then we're having dinner at our house with the whole family. He'll be 10 years old, Tommy - talk about time flying.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Is it software only or do any parts require changing?

Good Afternoon CGs!

Talked to the adjuster last night and we're not on the same page. They are trying to give me stock value for the car (even though I had it insured for more). I had to send a bunch of receipts and I have to send some more on Monday. If that doesn't work I know an attorney who does all insurance cases. Hope it doesn't go that far.

Daughter is still quite upset. I'm in a bit of a daze, just dealing with it I guess.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks guys. Nothing worth salvaging on the car, everything in front of the firewall is burnt up. Kind of pissed I can't get my George Thorogood CD out of the CD player....

Yes, everyone is ok which is the most important thing.

No work had been done on the car recently and it had been running well. I'm speculating the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm could have ruptured or possibly a fuel injector could have leaked or stuck open. Hard to say, just a freak occurrence.

Good Afternoon CGs!

TB, hope the burns heal up quickly.

Marcus, hope the back feels better.

Tommy, sorry to hear about the circumstances with your son. I hope he comes around eventually.

Unfortunately for me I lost the Corvette yesterday. Caught fire and burned down. My daughter is absolutely devastated as she loved that car. I'm working through it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hey Gurus,

Sad news to share. Yesterday there was a catastrophic event which claimed my car that I've had for the past 13 1/2 years. I can only speculate as to the cause but it seems to be fuel related. As I started the car it backfired in the intake and immediately caught fire. Luckily I was able to push the car away from the house which prevented additional damage but there was no saving the Corvette. It's a total loss.

I'm dealing the with insurance headache now. I'm not sure what I will replace it with, I'm not jumping into anything right now. No worries, I'll still be around my Corvette brothers and sisters.

No one was hurt and cars can be replaced easier than people. I'm thankful for that.

Good Morning CGs!

Tommy, glad the wife is ok. Cars can be fixed easier than people. Just don't tell Sue you were looking at a 2020 replacement for her....it would cost you way more than 60 Gs. Probably a few nights in the hospital, too.

VB - that looks like a place I'd like to be right now.

Been driving the Vette. Really need to do those motor mounts one of these days, I know I'd enjoy it more. I also have a new backup camera and mirror to install. One day.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

Cooled off a bit today. I guess it's fall. The grass seems to enjoy it. Green and lush and needs to be cut again.

Hope everyone had a great day!
