Good Morning CGs!

It's been a nice week here weatherwise. I swapped cars around and I've been driving the trans am with the Corvette resting for a bit. I'm a little mad at myself for not doing that earlier in the season. Oh well.

Speaking of cars got the new distributor put in my uncle's 95 mustang GT this week. Went in with no issues and got the timing set. Good to go and he's happy.

Headed to Pierogi Fest today in Whiting Indiana. Should be a nice time.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I believe this new test is flawed.

Good Afternoon CGs!

Nice warm weather here. Sunny but not too hot.

Kids have marching band practice until late so we are going to grab a bit to eat and do some shopping.

TB - looks like we missed you by a week. Where are you staying?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Spent the weekend up in Wisconsin with the family. Had a nice time. We had to take two cars because there were 6 of us. RR#1 wanted to take the Corvette so that's what we did. It ran well but we had a small hiccup halfway there. Rear tire was losing pressure for no known reason. There was a discount tire at the next exit so we pulled in. They couldn't find anything wrong with it so they dismounted the tire and remounted it including new o-rings and a new Schrader valve. That seems to have done the trick. Made the rest of the trip with no issues.

Speaking of the Corvette my headlight gear stripped out about 2 weeks ago. I ordered the kit on eBay but had not had time to work on it yet. So I tackled that today and got the driver's side motor out and rebuilt. The glue is drying now and I'll probably put it back in tomorrow. I should probably do the passenger side while I'm at it but ran out of time today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good evening CGs!

TB, you're a mover and a shaker. But a monthly massage is something I could get used to.

Good job, Letty. Most business is not what you know, it's who you know. Sounds like you're rubbing elbows with the right folks!

Good Morning CGs!

Went over to look at my uncle's 95 mustang yesterday. It has an intermittent no start or no run issue. Diagnosed it as a bad PIP which is the equivalent of a Chevy pick up coil in the distributor. Had to order a new one online so it will take a few days.

Watched a movie on Netflix with the kids last night. Semi sci-fi comedy with Ryan Reynolds called The Adam Project. It was pretty enjoyable and the kids liked it.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy 4th everyone!

We had our village fireworks show last night so we had a little get together and watched from the backyard.

Been fixing cars all week, mine and others. Never a shortage of stuff to do.

Enjoy the BBQ, Letty!

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Just got home after a little trip with the kids. 1000 miles of driving and a few days doing stuff together. It was a nice time. Probably not many more of those trips the older they get. Gotta spend the time when you can.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

On a little road trip. A few hours left of driving but the wife took over after our lunch break.

I didn't clean out the junk drawer but started cleaning out the junk garage last night. An hour and a half later with a full recycle can and half full garbage can and it still looks like I haven't started yet. Maybe it's a sign.

Letty, we've all had those days. At least it got fixed.

TB - that's pretty impressive work for the GS.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Another hot one today. Buddy of mine let me know his kid picked up an 86 Corvette the other day and asked if I could assist if needed. No problem. Kid called me yesterday with a couple of questions and I found out the car has been sitting for at least 10 years and is currently not running. Sounds like I'll be answering a few more questions down the road. Never a problem - I love to help with these cars.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Was able to get the pool wall repaired the other day and put back together. That's all functional and running now. Kids still haven't used it yet, of course. It's still a little cold but it's slowly warming up.

We've had some hot weather here. Nothing we can't handle. But I don't have to shovel it so I'm not complaining.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Had a few days off and already packed full of stuff to do. Got the drivetrain all buttoned up on the mustang. A few little hiccups along the way but it's in and running with no more vibration. Still need to reassemble the interior.

Saw an article that the "no down payment" programs from the early 2000s are coming back. Didn't learn anything the first time???

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

It's been a rough week but I have a couple of days off to recuperate.

Speaking of chores there is always something to do around here. RR#2 is out tending to the lawn right now. That's why we have kids, right?

Roofer and insurance adjuster came over today to inspect the roof. We have had multiple hail storms in the last few months and it was time to make a claim. I will get a reduced amount due to the age of my roof but something is better than nothing.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Sounds like a good day to go back to bed, Tommy. Any update on the nursery sale?

Tinkered with the mustang and got the clutch assembly, bell housing, and transmission put back in. The flywheel I put in last year was vibrating so bad you couldn't drive the car. Hopefully this new one sorts it out. I'll find out once it's all back together.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Took junior to the movies yesterday morning. We saw a new movie called Fall Guy. It's loosely based on the old show, a stunt man doing stunt man things. It was a pretty funny movie and entertaining. He liked it, that's all that matters.

Chores today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

I have been adjusting to a new schedule again, I'm working the afternoon shift now. It's better for sleep I can definitely tell you that. I don't feel like a zombie all the time.

Tried to refill the 134a in my father-in-law's car this morning but I guess it leaked a little too much and got some moisture and air in there. Wouldn't take the can like I wanted. So I have to vacuum the system this week and fill from there. It's better just more time consuming. That's ok I'll use the leftovers to top off the Camaro and Corvette. The Corvette has a very small Schrader valve leak. There's a special tool that replaces the valve without losing any refrigerant but it's about $45 and I'm being cheap. It's funny that my FIL told me today you seem to have a tool for everything....he also asked me how do you know how to do this? I said when you're poor you learn how to fix your own stuff. Best way, I guess.

Hope everyone has a great day!

This is the cycle...retro throwback to the horrible 70s colors. Once a generation is young enough to have forgotten how terrible a trend or taste was, it seems to regenerate. Think of mullets.

Picked up the new tonneau cover for the Ridgeline. Quite pricey for what it is. The bed rail system for mounting it (tri-fold) style leaves something to be desired. You'd figure at that price they would figure out something better. Guess not.

Good luck with the interview, Tommy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Evening CGs!

It was warm today and we just had a good round of thunderstorms.

Been enjoying the new truck purchase. Filled the bed with a yard of mulch last week and have been using it to shuttle things around. I've slowly been adding little things (mud flaps, bug guard, etc). I'm going to pick up my trifold tonneau cover tomorrow.

I finished up my last night of midnights and I'll be going to afternoon shift next week. Looking forward to having a little more of a normal life. Still won't see the kids as often as I'd like but at least I'll get to sleep like a normal person.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy Friday to all. I remember forever ago in the past when this used to be hot chick Friday....feel free to post up.

Been busy this week (as usual). Found some time on my days off to stop and the Honda dealer and take advantage of the incentives before the end of the month. 2.9% financing and $1000 off. Ended up with $4100 off MSRP on a brand new 2024 Ridgeline Black edition (top package). What a sharp truck. Lots of little creature comforts. I'm happy with the purchase. I'm doing a little bit of cosmetic upgrades but nothing too extreme. Just want it to look sharp as I'll be driving it the next ten years or so.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

This month has certainly flown by. Can't believe it's almost over.

Marcus, congratulations on the new grandbaby. Always a happy moment.

Gris - I had a battery tender go bad and kill my battery (DOA) about 10 years ago. Learned a lesson that winter. Now I watch them closely.

Still debating on what to do with the new vehicle purchase. Hard lump to swallow with the cost of new cars nowadays. We'll see what happens.

Hope everyone has a great day!

I was doing well the last few months but seemed to pinch or inflame a nerve in my back yesterday. It's pretty uncomfortable but feels ok while sitting. Hopefully that clears up in the next few days.

Tommy, sorry to hear about the car. Really tough luck.

TB - yes, I had to cut the horizontal brackets out. I actually drilled the rivets out I thought it was easier.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Matt, what did you have to remove to get the radio installed in the dash like that?

On the C5 convertible the first thing you remove is the waterfall. Then the arm rest, then the traction control switch cover, then the center console, then the radio bezel. They all fit together like a puzzle. I also took off the knee bolster and the under dash covers to get to the wiring. It's a little daunting at first but I've had it apart at least 8-10 times now so I knock it out pretty quick.

You also need to cut out the support brackets inside the dash and use an aftermarket radio bezel to fit the new double din.

Good Morning CGs!

Should be a nice sunny day today. I'll sleep through most of it. I have to teach TKD class this morning from 9-12 and then back home and in bed.

Drove the Corvette for the first time this season yesterday. What a great feeling.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Got the car 99% done today. Didn't need to pull the passenger seat, I was able to slide it forward and pull the side trim off and pull the wire up. Sounds good. Subwoofer is not quite as loud as I had hoped but I'm an old man now, right?

One thing I found out is the aftermarket unit doesn't give me the option to put the antenna down even with the radio in the off position. I don't like that. Now I need to run a toggle switch to the antenna and back up to the console.

Gris - did you get the electrical gremlins sorted out?

Good Morning CGs!

Working nights has been rough the last few months. Really messed up my schedule so I'm not on here too much.

Did get a chance to work on the Corvette and was able to rewire everything and put it back together. Only thing left is to finish running the 8 gauge power wire for the amplifier in the trunk. I need to pull the passenger seat for that. New radio sounds way better even with the Bose speakers. Now that the weather is turning nice I can finally drive it again.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

This week has flown by so far.

Cold here, saw some snow the other day. I heard on the radio they were getting 8-10 inches out in Maine and that area. No thanks. Should warm up here next week and be in the 60s. Can't wait.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Overcast and rainy here today again.

Tinkered with the Corvette a little last night. Haven't touched it in probably 8 weeks. Got the new gauge pillar installed and partially wired. It was a real pia since the boost gauge wire is just a little short. Made it but only by an inch or so. I'll get more done when I can.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy Easter to all.

I was able to break out of the chains last week and we took a family trip for spring break. Loaded up the SUV and took a trip to Washington DC. We left late Friday afternoon and made it to Ohio before we stopped for the night. It was a good way to split up the drive. On Saturday we were able to take a more leisurely pace and include some breaks along the way before we reached the hotel in Virginia. The Hotel was nice, about 30 minutes outside of DC. I got some recommendations on here as to what city to stay in. We ended up in Tyson's Corner. Didn't do anything on Saturday evening except check out the mall and relax a bit. On Sunday we took the train into the city and went and saw some sights, went to see the cherry blossom trees (in bloom and festival time) and went to the Smithsonian American History Museum and Smithsonian Portrait Gallery. Walked around a bit and we were exhausted when we got back to the hotel. Took Jacob swimming and hit the sack. Monday we did the Holocaust Museum. I've been there before but it was 30 years ago. Not a lot of words can describe that place but highly recommended. We tried to get into a few other places but didn't have timed tickets so we walked around a while. Did stop by the National Law Enforcement Memorial before heading back. Tuesday we spent the whole day between Arlington Cemetery and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in Virginia (they have two locations). Both great experiences. In he evening we met a friend of mine and his wife for dinner near the hotel. Always nice to do. Wednesday we drove straight home leaving early enough in the morning that we got home at a decent hour, about 7:30 pm.

Overall had a great time and spent good time with the kids.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Good Morning CGs!

After being teased with some nice weather last week the bitter cold has returned. It was 25* driving home from work this morning and I could see snow flurries in the headlight beams. Ugh. I'm ready for spring.

I did swap the winter tires off the Honda the other day. Also fixed an annoying squeak I had from the passenger side brake. Everything looked good but when I disassembled it I found that the squeal bar had somehow gotten bent and was pushed up to the rotor. Ripped that off and the problem went away.

How has everyone else been?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Sounds like a nice show, Tommy.

So far I'm enjoy the new mattre$$ we purchased. The wife says she doesn't like it??? The sales guy said sleep on it 30 days and make a decision. If you don't like it you can exchange it within 120 days. They charge $200 for pick up and sanitation charges but that's better than sleeping on a mattress you don't like. We'll see, it's only been a few days.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Agreed that dst needs to be eliminated. Complete waste of time and resources at this point.

It was sunny this afternoon but cooled off a bit when the sun went down.

We all went out to celebrate MIL's birthday. Had a nice dinner at a local Italian joint. Food was good and then back to their house for cake and coffee. Home now and ready to settle down for the evening.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Good Morning CGs!

Cool today and expecting some rain later today. Not sports car weather yet. But the rain should clean the roads off enough to get them out there. Maybe I should get cracking on finishing up the stereo install. One day, right?

Marcus is the new car an addition or a replacement?

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

It's been an expensive month for me so far. Ordered a new laptop the other day when they were on sale. Nothing fancy, just utilitarian. $350 OTD which I was ok with since I saw some for $1,000 or more.

The laptop pales in comparison to the new mattress we bought this weekend. We were due after 18 years (it was pretty well worn out). That cost us the price of the laptop with an extra zero on the end. But it's a nice hybrid mattress with an adjustable base that raises the head and feet. Pretty fancy. Picked up a new mattress for RR#1 while we were there since she needed a new one, too. Luckily that was just a basic pillow top we got from the clearance section for 60% off. Not bad.

Tommy, glad the doctor's visit went well.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy leap day!

We've had some wild weather this week. I'm the 70s on Tuesday afternoon which changed into rain, hail, and tornados and then 27 on Wednesday morning. Still cold now in the 20s. Guess it couldn't last forever.

A quick Guinness book record I remember from when I was a kid:

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

The weekend is finally here. I'm ready for it.

Weather has been nuts here. Was in the 60s a couple days ago and then we had an inch of nasty ice/snow mix yesterday. Supposed to be warm again tomorrow and next week. Mother nature seems confused.

I'm itching to get the cars out, guess I better get started working on them.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Sorry to hear about Sue, hope she feels better soon.

Electrical gremlins are no fun. My C4 didn't have any but sometimes my C5 will have a random intermittent drain that will kill the battery. I've spent hours chasing it down and nothing found.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Afternoon CGS!

Cold but sunny day. Stayed up late watching a movie with the kids and I'm dragging butt right now.

Went to the outlaws' this morning because the stove burner isn't working. One of them fancy 'lectric stoves. Glass top stoves are a PIA. Took it apart and found the heating element was burnt out, exactly what I suspected. It's 20 years old at this point. I've already replaced one element and one switch. New part is $100, new stove is $800. They opted for new part so I ordered that online.

Good luck with the cousin, Letty.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Cooled off here again, low 20s today and it feels like it.

RR#2 had a band solo contest this morning at school. It's a district wide deal. He played well (parents can sit in) and he got first class so he was happy. Both kids are there now helping out for the afternoon to get their service hours.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.

No flowers today but I picked up a couple of boxes of turtle candies. I think the wife prefers the candy over the flowers. Who doesn't like candy, right?

Still chilly here but it's February. Can't wait for the weather to start to turn.

Corvette is still torn apart with no progress. I'll get it done.... promise.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

That truck would fit right in around here. Surprisingly no snow on the ground, though. We do have some cold temps but not terrible - low 40s right now, 30 overnight.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Hope you win big at the casino, TB. I always win big at the buffet. I have no problem getting my money's worth.

No plans on watching the big game myself. No interest in that.

Hope everyone has a great day!

"LOL They have Sue down. #4

https://share.newsbreak.com/63jtn9ls"

Definitely sounded like an AI review where the computer just summarizes the reviews on the page and makes a paragraph. The fact that Lowes was #1 is all you need to know.

Happy birthday to Rosie. And sorry to hear about your thumb. Makes you want to look into one of those auto retracting saws. I've seen the videos and they look quite impressive.

Hope everyone had a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Still not used to writing 2024 yet. I guess by the time I'm used to it we'll be writing 2025.

Should be sunny and I'm the lower 40s today. They are saying upper 50s by mid-week but I'll believe it when I see it.

The headlights on the accord were getting pretty bad with the crazing/frosting on the plastic. Took it to Dave's shop the other day and he polished them. Just about good as new. I recommend it if your lights are getting hazy.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Happy Sunday CGs!

Sun is out and it looks nice out. Still cold at night when I'm lurking around.

Broken ribs are no fun, Gris. Hope the wife feels better soon.

TB, the dells are a nice place to visit. We go every summer, sometimes twice.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Afternoon CGs!

Hard to believe it's the end of the month. It's flown by, huh?

Midnight shift isn't treating me too well. Tough on the mind and body. I'm tired all of the time. Wife and kids don't like it, either. Hopefully won't be too much longer.

The work on the Corvette is stalled. Hard to find motivation when you're tired all the time. Did get the transmission fluid changed in the Honda yesterday, though. I was experiencing some torque converter shudder and that seems to be the cure.

Tommy, hope the healing comes quick.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning CGs!

Another cold and dreary day here. We've had freezing rain the past couple of days and it's miserable.

TB, hope you're feeling better with the medicine. On that topic, took RR#1 to the quick clinic Sunday afternoon because he wasn't feeling well. Swabs came back as influenza A and strep at the same time. Great. So he's missing school this week which he doesn't seem to mind. He's quarantined and we're hoping the bug doesn't get passed around.

Hope everyone has a great day!
