Weather has been cold and rainy all week. Looks like we will have a little sun this weekend. Hopefully it will pull me out of my bad weather funk.

The other day I bit the bullet and decided to order a new set of rims for the camaro. The rims that I should have ordered when I got the car but I was being cheap and didn't want to pay for them. I got them put on yesterday. Classic looking torque thrust twos. Can't go wrong. I love the look. Everyone at the tire shop loved the car. The manager asked me what I thought once they got put on. And I said it looks like I'm looking at the car I remember from 25 years ago. Holy crap does that make me old? I guess.

Warm day here. Glad to see the nicer weather.

Reglued the window for the convertible top in the Camaro today. The top edge came loose. I did the bottom last year so let's hope this fixes it.

I do my license plate renewal online. Much easier and it's worth the $4 convenience fee they charge.

I too need a haircut if the wife will oblige. She always acts like it's the biggest chore in the world but it takes her 10 minutes. Sheesh.

And yes, 17 years have flown by, it seems.

Tommy, sorry to hear you're still a little down about the pooch. Completely understandable. I also understand Sue's position. I hope it works out.

The water heater was a complete fiasco this week. Finally got it picked up (after they gave me the wrong one - their fault) and installed. So we have hot water again. Can't believe the prices. I was shaking my head the other day when I heard a water heater install was north of $2500. Well, this was $1600 for the water heater alone with shop discount pricing, not including pipe, elbows, dielectric, etc. Everything is insane.

Went to mom's and picked up the Camaro so I can fix the top. I swapped out the TA so I have space. RR#1 asked to drive it home so I let her (can you believe she turns 17 in 10 days???). She was ecstatic. I think it made her whole week. Just a car, right? (no, she still can't drive the Corvette).

You know people always talk about 4.10s and I think it's good if you have a modern six-speed but for an auto it's probably too much. I think 3.54 is a perfect solution.

You get to spend money on fun stuff and I get to replace the water heater. Bottom of it is rusting out and it has a really slow drip but I don't want it to turn into a not really slow drip. I tried to go to the plumbing supply house yesterday because they were supposed to be open but the sign on the door said we are no longer open on saturdays. Great there was an hour trip wasted. Oh well. Monday it is.

And just like that, another week has slipped by. Can't believe it's May already. We've had rain the last few days but that didn't stop me from getting out there and scrubbing the mildew off the siding. The spray bottle says no scrubbing required....sure, sure.

Tommy, really sorry to hear about the pup. Hopefully animal control can handle it but sometimes the desire to do something yourself is just overwhelming.

Letty, that JD looks like a hoot to drive. I'd give it a shot. What's a million of debt?

A chilly start to the day. Hopefully it warms up as the day goes on.

Wife and I watched the movie Conclave last night on Amazon Prime. It is a drama but has to do with the selection process for the new pope. It had a very mafioso / cult feel to it. I enjoyed the movie but be prepared that it's almost two hours long.

Took a turn here weather-wise today. 60* and some pouring rain. Good for the garden, bad for my enjoyment.

VB - I don't understand how / why someone would drop off a dirty truck knowing it was getting a wrap. People are dumb sometimes.

Drove the Corvette work yesterday. 80* and sunny. Beautiful weather. Easy to get in trouble with that car. I was merging on the freeway in 3rd gear. Smashed the gas and when I looked at the speedometer I went from 50 to 95 in the blink of an eye. Oops.

Seems like everyone had a good Easter. We did as well, lots of food and good company.

Saw on the news feed that the Pope passed away. Sorry to hear that for all of the Catholics. That's a pretty big deal. I just read an article that describes the whole process in detail. Very traditional in the way it's done. But that's the way it's done.

Tommy, good to have a back up but too bad the higher offer came later. Maybe Sue will decide retirement is beat and he'll people on the side as it goes.

Happy Easter Gurus!

I've had the last couple of days off so I was doing work in the garage. Friday I got the transmission pulled out of the Mustang and dropped off at the shop for a rebuild. Yesterday I got the gas tank dropped on the Mustang and I was able to replace the broken sending unit and replace the torn fuel filler gasket that leaked fuel. Still a lot more projects left on that car and then hopefully it will be gone at the beginning of the summer. I just don't drive it so no point in letting it sit around.

RR#2 is going to help my BIL at work today demoing a kitchen. He'll get a taste for real labor and maybe he will like it. We'll see.

Work in the bathroom slowly marches on. I did the first color coat on the cabinet doors and cabinet frames. We'll see how smooth it dries because I'm using a foam roller instead of spraying. At the end of the day it's a bathroom facelift and not a professional job so I'm kind of over it already.

Looked at the main page and after seeing the C1 I thought what ever happened to Andy's friend Wes?

There's a YouTube video of the Collins guy rescuing a 454 C3 from a barn in Texas. I only got a few minutes in but I'd like to watch the rest later.

Let's not forget that the Germans were beaten more by RUSSIA than the RUSSIANS. German troops weren't prepared for the cold weather and bare lands with no food or supplies.

Got the grout done yesterday morning. I still need to wipe it down one final time to get any remaining haze off. Also need to seal the grout but that takes 48-72 hours of curing. I might get the silicone done at the bottom where the tile meets the fiberglass.

Taking mom out to and early bday dinner later as well.

We've had significant thunderstorms since last night and still raining now. Kind of dreary. But rain washes away any leftover salt so I'm not complaining. It's convertible weather soon.

Been doing a little facelift remodel in the master bathroom. New paint, light fixtures, blinds, and tiling inside the shower cove above the shower stall enclosure. What a royal PIA. Apparently these builders didn't know what square meant and when you're doing tile that poses a challenge. But after a lot of cuts the tile is up. Should be ready for grout tomorrow. Next step is to finish sanding the vanity and get that painted. Can't wait.

Rain here this morning and most of the evening yesterday.

Started a little facelift on the bathroom last week and it's turning into a real pia. Was supposed to be a little paint and now I'm going to add new trim, new blinds, and decided to tile above the fiberglass shower surround. Sounded like a good idea until I started and the walls are all out of whack. So I'm leveling the tiles the best I can to make up for everything and I'll try to hide the cuts as best I can. I'm sure it will turn out fine but it's frustrating. Also plan on painting the cabinets but that is turning out to be a much bigger projects, as well. Wish me luck.

The weather here has been awfully wild the past week or so. Last Friday is was 81 and I was driving with the convertible top down. Two days later it snowed. Then it warmed up and melted the snow. Then we had hail and tornado warnings. Then it cooled off again. I think the weather is bipolar.

Went to mom's the other day and did some chores and got those out of the way. Then the wife and I stopped and picked up some paint and new lights for the bathroom for a little mini-facelift. I gave her three options - $10-12k tear out and redo, $3-4k mini tear out and redo all the tile, or repaint for $300. Those are pretty much the only options at this point. She thought she could select the ala carte menu and pick and choose...told her nope, doesn't work that way. If you rip the tub out, tile has to go. move this wall, tile has to go, etc. So a light refresh is what it will get. RR#2 is in there washing the walls with TSP now. At least he's learning something from it.

Weather here has been wacky. On Friday it was 81* and I was driving with the convertible top down. Sunday it was snowing. Yesterday started in the 30s and made it to the 40s. Should be mid 60s today and tomorrow and then snow again Thursday night. I can't deal with it.

I am hoping for a nice stretch of weather so I can pull the trans out of the mustang and get that rebuilt. Always something to do, right?

Also have to fix the top on the Camaro, evap sensor on the TA, and install my coilovers on the Corvette. Never a dull moment.

Over at the in-laws' house doing some chores. Currently setting up the new lap top we got him for Christmas. Nothing wrong with the old one but he said it was not running correctly and he needed a new one. Ok. Just takes a little while to get the new updates downloaded and everything back in ship shape.

Another cold day here but the dog was happy to walk for 45 minutes anyway. I guess that's what hats and gloves are for (me, not the dog). Should warm up slightly this week for a change.

Cold here. We got some snow the other day and a little more going on right now. Kids are going sledding soon.

Speaking of concerts the wife took my daughter to a string quartet performance of Coldplay songs last night. Said it was really good.

First semester ended just before Christmas. Got the class ranking results back and RR#1 is 11th out of 425 and RR#2 is 14th out of 454. Not bad.

Last night we went and saw a movie, Wicked. It was very good. Very long but it didn't seem that way. After that we came home and played board games and waited for the countdown. I was in bed at 12:01. No real desire to stay up late any more.

The real question Tommy is did you find the draw? Nice cars for sure but the maintenance / repair costs scare me away. That's why I buy warranties on all of my new cars.

It's been a busy week during the Christmas season. I hope everyone had a good holiday.

After nearly 20 years of Corvette ownership I finally made the trip to mecca. Our family holiday was a few days in kentucky. We stayed just south of Louisville which was sort of central to a lot of things. So one of our trips was to the National Corvette museum. Definitely a cool place to go and see. I think it's required if you're a Corvette owner. I thoroughly enjoyed it as did my daughter. My wife not so much. My son was indifferent. I probably could have spent longer there but I had to worry about them as well. To be honest I thought the museum would be bigger, not that it was small, just that there's so much more that they could have displayed or promoted. Definitely worth the experience and I'd like to go back again one day.

Home now and back to normal life, whatever that is.

Gloomy day here. Both kids got hit with the stomach flu really hard last night around 3 am. Not pleasant for anyone. They are confined to quarters until further notice. I'm still feeling well but the wife said she's not 100%. Makes for an interesting holiday.

Supposed to be a nice day today in the 50s. The Christmas lights I already put up zonked out the other day so the wife wants me to replace those. Not really in the mood for that.

Picked up a new 3d printer for RR#2 for Christmas. Bought the extended warranty this time. So that was something like $450 out the door. Things get more expensive the older they get.

Another cold morning here. Winter has appeared. We had some snow the other day but it only stuck around for a day or two. Supposed to be in the 40s this week. Glad I put up the Christmas lights when it was still warm in November.

Been busy around here with work, family, life. No updates on the mustang, was looking for a replacement transmission but no luck. I'll pull this one and see how bad the damage is.

Yesterday was beautiful and today turned into a cold and rainy mess of a day. I feel bad for the kids who want to trick or treat.

Found out yesterday I'll be able to store one of my cars at Mom's house so that will free up the rack for the mustang and a winter transmission swap. No use crying over split milk. Move forward.

Well Gris, I may be drinking to forget later today.

Went to take the mustang to my mom's house and when I got halfway there the trans blew up. Grenaded what I believe is 2nd gear internally. Case is still intact and I was able to limp home. It had been whining for a while but was shifting great and no other noises so I thought it would be ok. Nope.

The camaro has a weird intermittent vibration. My buddy felt it the other day when we were driving and we both figured it was u-joints. Checked those today and they are good. So it's maybe wheel bearings which I already bought or could even be the rear end. Great.

Also got rear ended in the Corvette a couple of days ago at a red light. Guy in a tesla. It was maybe 2 mph. No damage other than a scratch the size of a pencil tip. I got lucky. I don't want to go through that and I don't want it on my car fax.

So that's my week. F me, right?

Kids have a big band day in St Louis on Friday. Unfortunately I can't make it due to work. Oh well. Maybe next year.

I've been MIA, I apologize. I think I'm busy but after reading the chats of what everyone else is up to apparently I've been on vacation the past few weeks. Not sure how you guys fit it all in.

Kids are getting ready to wrap up marching band season. They had a state competition on Saturday and although they did really well performance-wise they got skunked by the judges. Politics, I guess. It's in every facet of our lives. Just too bad the kids had to experience it.

Cooler weather is upon us, although it was blissfully warm today. Not too many of those days left.

Weather took a bit of a turn on the cool side. Beautiful during the day but a little chill at night. Had to drive home with the top up last night, what a shame.

Wife's SUV needs brakes so I ordered a set off of Rock Auto. Those are sitting in the box and ready to go on when I get some time. Hopefully this week.

I have to get the mustang over to my mom's house to store it for the winter (outside). She's got more room than I do so it makes sense.

I'm the same way VB. I prefer Snap-on over most. He's got more than me with it being his actual job but I'm bordering around 100k retail price worth with my box and everything. It's a bit of an addiction. At least it makes him money.

Yes, I'm still alive. Haven't been online much the last couple of weeks.

Hard to believe this month is almost over!

Got the pool closed the other day and the wife pulled just about everything out of the garden. We have some more outside clean up and organizing to do. I moved some things around in the garage but I need to get the mustang over to my mom's house where she has more room along side the garage.

Always something to do if you have the inclination.
