Little known Thanksgiving trivia.
The first end of season cart and mule blowout extaviganza took place just after the second Thanksgiving offering deep discounts on last years cart models. The first Black Friday appeared after the same feast but did not start till the sun came up on that day. Favorite offereings at the time were "Buy one gourd; Get one free" Also offered were 50% off blankets but in actuality the blankets were 50% smaller. Honey for your honey? Don't forget the games for the kids. Colorfully painted rocks and sticks (for kids over three) or dyed canvas sack and hay stuffed Prudence dolls for the little ladies. After the feast the older male tribe members and English insurgents sat back and watched the younger males compete in a rousing game of kickball whilst the womenfolk cleaned up after the days offerings. The grog and Elderberry wine flowed till late in the night. An occasional fight would break out but it was quickly over after the intoduction of a tomahawk or blade. Those were the days. And thats the way it was ...... really! |
