flyboy | Cubs legend Ron Santo dies | ||

Ron played third base on the exciting Cubs team of 1969. He never made it to the Hall of Fame. He fought diabetes courageously eventually losing both his legs. I will miss him most of all as the long time color man along with Pat Hughes, broadcasting the Cubs games on radio. Win or lose, those Cubs radio broadcasts with Pat and Ron were a pleasant alternative to most of what's on the radio. RIP Ron.

sad.... but to be honest, I never heard of him.
I am a Phillie's guy, and 1969 was a bit before my time. My condolances, tho, to all of his family, friends and fans. I know what it is like when someone like this passes. It leaves a huge void, however strange that it does. I never considered it until Harry Callas passed. He was the voice of the Phillies... How do you replace that after 40 years? When Vin Scully passes or retires, how will the Dodgers replace him? |
