Well, I know it is sacrilege to raise a lowered Vette. But mine is too low to accommodate the tires I have etc.
So I was thinking, raise it a quarter of inch, to alleviate the front tires hitting within the hood fender area.
Its an arduous process, time consuming. So, I thought of a simpler way to do it.
I already have pad eyes on the end of the springs, but the center wedge has no aluminum plates as it did when it was at factory height.
So, take the aluminum plates and cut a slot through the holes so you can just put the plate in like a shim from the side. It would be easy, just raise the vette, loosen the center brackets down and then put the shims in each side.
Supposedly the shims are 1.4 inch and that is what height change you will get with each on put in.
Discuss.

We talked about this Sunday night... it makes sense, I guess. You take the spring farther away from the chassis, effectively raises the ends.

Would it also effect spring rate?

It doesnt affect spring rate at all. It actually just raises the car up.
Slotting the spacers was a thing I thought of doing to ease the whole taking the spring out. All I would have to do is raise the vehicle, loosen the center aluminum spacers which lowers the spring down and relieves tension, then slide the spacers in.

that would make it easier. I like the idea... now it's just time to give it a shot.

What about making a thicker cap for the end of the spring? A small amount may equal a lot by the time it is measured at the end of the a-arm.

The end of the spring flexes allot. You can take a piece of wood and actually raise it within the a arm while jacked up.
I think, just my opinion, you get more lift via the center.
I did already put delrin pads on the ends to a little larger factory height, 3/4 vs 5/8 for the factory.
I think it also affects spring tension the more you put on the end as it tightens the spring more as you are pushing it up.
