I am not sure if unhooking the ABS is going to solve this. But it sure will mask it.
There are tests that can be done with the ABS to determine the cause of the code. I am wondering if a wheel sensor is out fo wack. AFAIAK, ABS is a great invention, and is the difference between wrecking and stopping... especially in slick conditions. So you know, the ABS is behind the drivers seat, in the storage bin. I moved this to tech where it belongs! |

Geez, I've been meaning to say something since I was working on my ABS.
The sensor for the rear brakes along with the tooth wheel is right where you get at the bolts for the bearings. If you'll remember where we had to get the socket in between the axle shaft and the rear carrier, the sensor is right there. I hope we didn't damage it when we took that bearing apart. The ABS sensor comes out with a screw and clamp. You'll see it on the back of the upright when the wheel is off. We can check the resistance of the sensors at the rear compartment also. Sorry, I forgot all about this. |

My daughter used to have similar symptoms on her 96 Cavalier, hard brake pedal or pulsating brakes even with light application. There were two wires attached to the ABS module (one for the front and one for the rear brakes). By unplugging the wires her ABS light was on but her brakes worked fine (however there was no anti-lock feature, so you're no worse off than an 85).

that is sounding more and more like a sensor problem.
