JDM24 Issues after radio install

Hello I am a newbie looking for some help. I recently had a JVC KWNT-50HD navigation radio installed in a 94 Corvette. The navigation does not work because the installer did not hook up th VSS signal wire. I have searched on here and found that the VSS wire should be a green/white on the factory harness. (I'm not sure I'm asking)

Also the Bose speakers worked fine before the install. I bought the necessary kit to make them work. But I have engine noise in the speakers. I was thinking it could be a bad ground. Should the installer tap into the ground wire on the factory harness for a good ground?

Most important: Welcome aboard!

Sorry you are having these issues. Is this a Best Buy chimp doing the install, or an experience independent pro?

I will have to check my FSM to confirm the wiring.

Noise from Bose adapters is not uncommon. Confirm the ground; it is fine to use the ground at the harness, but it may not hurt to run a ground wire back to one of the kick panel located grounding studs.

Personally, I don't like the Bose or the adapters. You will have the all new head unit, and the system will still sound the same.

It was suppose to be a good radio shop..So my guess is the installer was not ready for the install. I like the Bose just dont want to spend the extra money on a whole new speaker system right now.

that's fair enough... but the adapters are the source of the noise. Check the adapters themselves, because if I am right, they should have gain settings. This allows you to set how sensitive the adapter is to the input signal. You want that down as low as reasonable.

From what I can figure, on the harness to the head unit, there should be a dark green wire. That is from the receiver module and should be the VSS line you need. It's data used by the SCV control to vary the volume as speed change.

Like Andy said, cheap adapters can cause noise, check the gain levels. Also, I would run a new ground. Find a good close metal source or run one under the carpet to the seat bolts or through the firewall to the engine bay.

The seat bolts are not the best (consistent) source of ground... if you want a good ground, check the kick panels. This is where the dash grounds are located. There is one on each side.

Or, ground under the hood, near the battery.

Ok, what Andy said - use the kickpanel. I used a rear seat bolt for my amplifier 8 ga wire and have not experienced any problems.
