Hi there can anyone help me with advice or photos/links showing how to repair the sagging headliner that i have on my 91 vette. I have bought some automotive spray adhesive but i don't know what i need to remove to glue it back in place properly and i don't want to ruin the material/job.
Any help gratefully received, thanks Martin

Ya I bought the plastic and covered one, with the Velcro, which didn't last for squat and started falling down. Went to Napa and bought what I thought was some "good" upholstery glue, and after a couple of months it came down again. Need to find the thread on here where Bill suggested a good glue to try.

The 3M is about as good as it gets.

Eastwood Supply used to sell a good product, but I don't know what is available in Europe.

To be honest, Martin, the glue you buy may not hold up under heat. You need to find a professional car interior shop.

Now, with that said, it doesn't mean you have to take him more than the cardboard and fabric...

And to remove it? peal it off apparently.

The instructions are short and sweet... "headliner from roof panel by peeling from roof panel".

Personally, for the angst, I would take it to a professional and let them do it... Figure €75 to €100 should cover it, so to speak. I am guessing cause the headliner in my Jeep Cherokee was $175 USD and that was 5 times larger.

I did this with my 94. Bought some foam, adhesive and material to fix it. Cost me about $75. Looked like crap when I was done (didn't really look quite that bad, but I wasn't happy). So I stopped at a local upholstery shop where I had them do it right for me. Total cost of having it done? $50

Talk to an upholstery shop!

Thanks guys but my island is really small and an "upholstery shop or "car interior shop" does not exist I get all my car parts from shops in England brought out by friends to save international postage. there are only 4 other vettes on the island and one of those has been off the road for a rebuild for six years!!!!!!.
Guess I will remove the material carefully and see whats underneath and spray and pray!!

Oh, yea... Islands... kinda missed that detail.

So pull carefully. If you screw it up, don't fret, you can redo with a new piece of cardboard. It's not any fancy material.

Infact, you may want to cut a new piece, because the old one will have residue that will be hard to remove.
