They do look sharp in black. The 1954 is the accessible early Corvette - neither the incredibly rare (they only made 300) 1953 nor the 1955 with the game-changing V8.

I scored an extended ride in a 1954 a couple of years ago and was surprised at how spritely it felt: certainly not fast, but sporty. Of course, in 1954 a 0-60 time of around 11 seconds was competitive ...

I can't fit... but that's another story.

Read this bit a few weeks back, about a 1926 Bugatti Grand Prix car:

"The British mag, 'Cars', tested one of these back in the mid-80's. It did 0-60 in 6 seconds."

If you owned that Bug in the 50s, you would STILL have the fastest car on the road.

In a more civilized manner, a Deusenberg SJ would also have cleaned the 1953-1954 Corvette's clock. But, that wasn't the competition. The competition was the Jaguar XK 120 and it's 0-60 times were about the same.
