Drop Top CE was RIGHT!!

It cleared my code 44 and the car idled 100% better. It idles nice. I expected a lumpier idle...

The only problem now is that it backfires when I slam the gas and does not seem to run smoothly.

I have to start with the basics.....check timing, wires, firing order, ect.....

When I first hook the battery back up, mine pops out the intake when I slam the gas sitting in park. After about 5 minutes of runtime it quits doing it. Then when I shut it off and fire it back up the problem is gone. I think it "learns" some of the fueling and such, not sure. I know every time I unhook the battery and hook it back up it does it, then it goes away on it's own. I make sure not to do it now as I'm afraid it will blow the wires in the MAF.

Seems to do it not just in park, but especially under load.

You now must believe everything I say without question! :thumbleft:

If only my wife would!

I would suspect timing. You would be surprised how many times folks cross wires.

Yeah. I checked the wires. Two were not clipped all the way in place.

Still backfires and a couple runners are turning red. I'm thinking timing first. But I set it dead on balls 6* BTDC. Maybe it needs some advance..

The ECM handles the advance. Did you set the timing with the est disconnected? If so. did you hook it back up?
