I presently have the 16197128 ECM, I just acquired an 01227727. Will the 727 work in my car ? For diagnostic reasons I want to try the 727 and watch certain parameters on a Datamaster scan. Certain numbers on the scan maybe ECM related. Thats what I'm after. Any advice on getting the plugs off ( looking at it seems I have to break tabs for removal ) ? Is it bascially plug and play ? Thanks in advance.

Same ECM just a different number. You'll have to swap your memcal (chip).
To get the plugs out, you should get the ECM out of the bracket. I pick it up turn it over and hold it against my chest. With both thumbs you'll have to push in the red center clips and while you're doing that you have to push it out. A second person would be a big help. With the heat development of the ECM there is always a good amount of vacuum holding those plugs, PITA. |

Sorry slow getting back on this. I replaced the ECM, and retarded the timing to just below 5*. Reset the IAC, replaced the TPS, and it runs alot better. But get this !! I ran out of scans... I didn't get a single scan with the replacement ECM.
