How hard is it to remove the rocker panels on an 86 vert? I'd like to get them repainted and thought it'd be easier than taking the car to the body shop. Thanks.

Not hard at all. There are 2 small torx bolts on the front edge, a row of torx on the top(in the door jamb area), and a row of bolts on the bottom. There is 1 hidded bolt on the rear that is accessed by pulling the rear plastic wheelwell out and reaching in with a 7mm wrench.

Ask your painter before you do this. I wanted to have a new driver's side mirror changed from red to bronze on an 87. The paint shop insisted that I bring the car in as they wanted to make sure that I got a good match.
The best part about this was that Gordon Killebrew used my car as a demonstrator for a C4 door class and installed the new mirror for me at no charge! |
