how do you clean and stop the oxidation of the altenator and waterpump front cover? opened hood and white powder all over the aluminum..thanks .

Ironically the white reaction is a protective barrier that forms on the aluminum that protects it from actually being damaged by the elements.

The best way I have found to protect aluminum, both polished and raw, is to use off the shelf Turtle Wax. It's a barrier that you can apply a few times a year to keep that white residue down and keep your alternator looking fresh.

The BEST way to do it is paint it. Find a nice cast coat iron color or metal gray you like and paint the alternator case.
