It just takes many hours and can be tedious getting the right angle and length of bit. I took a few pictures while I was working. There is a lot of remove!!!

I'm around 6'3" and with my helmet on I really didn't fit. Now I have about 1/2" of clearance to the top with my helmet on and I don't hit my head when I jump the local train tracks.

The bracket shown is their adapter bracket, it's suppose to be used with many washers but I used as few as humanly possible to keep the total height down. I even took out the carpet, about 1/4" of height.

The seat bases I had shaved when I bought the seats. This keeps the total height of the seat the same but lowers the seat cushion where you sit. You can tell by looking at the seat as there is a noticable gap between the back part and seat bottom part. I asked the max shave they would do. I also have the sub belt hole.

The sliders are locking on each side, I thought that would be safer for track use. I got the seats with free shipping at streetortrack.com

The harness bar is gas welded to federal aircraft spec.

I put some Corbeau A4 seats in mine. I've very pleased with the setup. Bolting the brackets in the way I did was pretty difficult but with the shaved seat bases I now have headroom with a helmet on. With the stock seats my head was tipped to the side which totally sucked.

I used their double locking manual sliders.

The harness bar I made, it was $50 in materials.

I have the G-Force pull down type, and they work very well for me. Adjusting them for different sized instructors though takes to long. For just my use they are great. Plan extra time to get a passenger or instructor squared away. Or get the cam type.

When I put my setup together I wanted it to comply with the rules from many clubs so that I would always pass tech. The shoulder straps attach to the harness bar and many clubs now require the strap to pass through the seat, not go around it. Same for the sub strap. Many clubs also require the passenger to have the same harness as the driver. So check the rules of the club you want to track with.

On mine I put the lap belts under the stock seat belts and just tuck the harness away while using the normal seat belt for street use.

I got my harnesses from saferacer.com and my seats from streetortrack.com as they had free shipping. I had the bases shaved so my head didn't hit the top anymore.

I believe Qack made the curve to show what it would do if it stayed exactly efficent as in the chart. This may or may not be true. Judging by the stewart pump flowing, what 160? I would say it's pretty close though.

To each their own with that question. To me it boils down to cost. I'd like to pay $2000 for new awesome heads but won't be affording that. I can however spend very little to port my stock parts which are already paid for and get a mild HP increase. More HP would be better but you must decide your budget.

I like to track my car and spend more money on that and having fun. Mine is 99% a track car. So I'd rather have the $1500 in head savings and enjoy tracking it. I feel kind of sad for built up cars that never see the track and wonder a bit at the point of it all.

That looks pretty good. I have been planning to do that project with mine. Any tips or pictures? The book from Vizard "How to build and mod SBC heads" has a section on the 113 head.

Their quick port with 2.00" 1.55" valves:

Intake

.200 - 129.7
.250 - 156.2
.300 - 172.8
.350 - 190.7
.400 - 201.6
.450 - 217.3
.500 - 224.4
.550 - 222.3 (stall)

Exhaust

.200 - 108.1
.250 - 122.6
.300 - 138.0
.350 - 152.6
.400 - 162.0
.450 - 169.9
.500 - 175.5
.550 - 176.5

He states that more flow can be had but it will take a lot more time. He also states that 250 cfm intake flow could be had by more work on the runner.

I looked at that too, as I did a similar test last year. I wish I could help him out more but I'm not schooled in aero. Hopefully someone experienced chimes in.

While we're on the subject I have an aero related question. Why is the later C4 radiator tipped backwards? Since I'm removing the A/C I thought of tipping the radiator forwards then venting the hood. To help with aero/drag/cooling.

I was looking at a C4 with a camber brace earlier this week at a track event. The owner said he noticed less inside wear on the front tires and thought it was helpful for that. He wouldn't say the brace helped his lap times.

My car was getting lots of wear on the front inside edge at my last event. Then in the afternoon without an instructor in the car, the accelerated wear went away. I had my father sit in the car while I had a level on the tire, the bubble moved quite a bit.

Could a camber brace make your car less sensitive to weight changes like that?

I disagree about brake ducts. They are a cheap, easy to install mod that can only help you. You can run a wider range of pad, safer. You have less heat damage and there can be less heat soak into areas around the brakes, like melting the tie rod boot. Letting the brakes get super hot then puts your fluid at a higher risk of boiling.

I've read people saying they like these for street use because the steering wheel isn't as jerky on a bump. And cowl shake is lessened. I don't notice either of these things on my car.

I'd be very curious about track testing results! Please do this. There's no way I'll add twenty pounds to my car without clear gains.

http://www.dougrippie.com/drm/brake_components.htm lists the 97 compound available Corvette Rear 1984-96.

I have no idea if this is true since the PFC site doesn't seem to have any pad listings per car.

Do you use your parking brake much? I found that I never did and ditched it as extra weight.

PFC Race 97 Compound is one of the few rear race compounds I've found, that might be worth a try.

Last year I got a set of Carbotech XP8 for track use and they were pretty worn so I decided to try and finish them off on the street. They worked very well at Road America and I didn't have fade. On the street they do squeal some but not to bad. I can feel that they need a lot more force to stop the car for the first little bit of driving. A mile or two at the most, then they work very well. I thought they were a good dual use pad. Your car may be different. Maybe there is a similar Wilwood pad.

I keep thinking that this paragraph could only be correct. I am not sure how much flow goes under that gap, but I would imagine it is significant.

And yes, that fan clicks on while sitting most of the time.

I still don't like the holes in the shroud however. Something (at first glance, and I may be wrong) just does not sit right with that idea.....in MY head.

I wouldn't suggest it for daily driver kind of use. I'll post later in the summer if there is any issue with the cuts.

I've got an oil cooler setup wishlisted at Summit but since I've only peaked oil temp to 235° I haven't bought it.

I am not sure cutting via holes in there would help......that is kinda like the old 70s fan shroud cars, you remove the shroud and then you have cooling problems. You need that fan pulling air across the fins

I would think so too but then again the whole bottom of the shroud is open. It doesn't really matter though I only care about high speed cooling and the fan is not running then on the track.

Sealing the bottom between the compressor and radiator sounds good to make your A/C colder and coolant temp warmer.

Bill, I made the same choice as my last car. Corbeau A4 seats. I really like to drive the car as much as possible so it will remain driveable on the street. I really needed a non-fixed back seat, due to my back problems more then anything. I considered the new Sparco Steel seat but it weighs more. I got the A4 shaved for more headroom, double locking sliders, and the sub belt hole.

Now I need harness and a harness bar, thinking of making one of those.

Yes there would be differences per year. The shroud on my year would hit the hood support, you can see the notch in the top picture. These mods will help with small cleaning, for major cleaning it's still best to remove the radiator. I couldn't get mine clean with it in the car. It was pretty bad:

No, he said to cut the shroud in the places that prevent you from removing the top cover of the shroud without taking off the top hose and oil cooler hose.

Remember, we had that conversation before??? You suggested that I cut the shroud in order to allow it to be lifted off without taking any of the hoses off.....for cleaning purposes.

I made those cuts on mine just Saturday after changing my radiator out for a new one.

IF I am wrong about what he is saying...sorry for that...that is how I interpreted what he suggested

I did both. Making those R&R mods really makes things go smooth. Did you notch the hood support area and remove the small cross part under the water neck? I opened up the top on each side of the fan as well. Also I didn't install every fastner. The two under the air filter seemed to be extra weight same as the engine side fasteners. Less weight and less time R&R. I think this may be my last season with A/C though.

For practice laps I get to 120 MPH at 5,000 RPM and coast to the brake markers, in D. Twice per lap there are long enough straights for that.

My track coolant temp as above is only 190° but that has been on days in the 50°'s. My next event is with the NCM in Aug, it will be anywhere from 85-95° so I am prepping to handle more heat. Since I still have the stock oil cooler/warmer on better airflow will help oil temp, that I run around low 230°'s.

I just finished the shroud mod and haven't driven the car yet. There are no seats in it! Those should be here Wed. I don't street drive the car that much. Cobra4B in his post about the Z06 shroud mentioned there wasn't a street increase in temp after the mod.

The fan doesn't EVER run at the track I go to. Is your local track super slow? If you look at the picture you'll see the whole lower part of the radiator is unshrouded.

DRM inspired unshrouded Z06 radiator to promote flow:

If mine ran that hot I'd assume something was wrong. You were on the same track right?

I made two holes in the radiator shroud hoping to improve high speed cooling. I wouldn't block the bottom gap under the radiator. If you cut a slot for the water neck and hood support it really makes it fast to clean out the radiator area. I took pix:

I am just putting in race seats hoping to avoid that beat up feeling at the end of the day and to unlimit my driving. I feel really limited in cornering now with the stock seats, I get thrown around to much.

An article on the leafs:

Odd, maybe closing off that bottom part makes a big difference? Mine is almost to cold in comparison, 190° coolant, 230° oil, 135° trans pan temp. Stock radiator, no water wetter, 50/50 mix, oil and trans coolers hooked up.

LOL I've thought of sealing with foam spray as well and thought of it being flamable. There is one bad gap on mine on the drivers side, I am thinking of running a tube from it to the power steering res.
